Talk:Potion Making

From Mabinogi World Wiki

As I understand, ego weapons are repaired by feeding them a stock item of the same kind, so ego broadswords eat broadswords to repair themselves. As I understood, the ego restore potion is just there to repair an ego that's at 0 durability and can't be spoken to. Ziv 02:15, 2 May 2008 (PDT)

Tested, and proved to be false. The only way to repair an ego is to use the "Spirit Liquer" with a weapon type that is the same as your ego. If the spirit's durability reaches 0, a special potion may be bought from Lassar at the Tir Chonaill magic school to increase the durability to 1. From there, normal procedures may be taken to repair an ego. --DeityOfSouls 18:31, 17 September 2008 (PST)

Rank A potion Making has a typo, it says to use Poison herbs instead of White Herbs --Kendoze 15:20, 15 December 2008 (NST)

Skill changed?

Hey guys, what generation does Potion Making get altered so that one gets skill experience even for making more than one potion at a time? :) Just curious. --Phunkie 18:25, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Nope. Still 1 chunk of skill exp per attempt. LAter on we get an option to make however many we want separately, but until then it'll be like this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fracture (talkcontribs) . Please always sign your comments with the Signature.png button or by typing ~~~~!

success cap?

at rank f potion making, and rank 1 production mastery, it looks like the skill is capped 75%. in theory, thunderstorm should put my percentage at 85%, but I could get only 75% on both mana potions and hp potions. -- ladywinter ~{talk page}~ 19:21, 7 April 2010 (UTC)

There are different "qualities" of rain. And the success boost is technicaly not a fixed number, its a % boost (ie 10% boost on 50% is +5% and 10% boost on 80% is +8%). The success cap for every life skill is 99%. You should review your numbers. Tellos 20:18, 16 May 2010 (UTC)

Messy Details

  • Please see the Potion Making List for items that can be created by Potion Making.
  • Creates Potions through Herbs.
    • *These two bullets can be merged.
  • Potion Making uses 2.5 Stamina, but cannot be used when Stamina is below 3. Mana is drained when making more advanced potions such as Wound Recovery or 100-Point Potions.
    • *Uhm, why is this not in the skill summary?
  • Potion making provides one of the two ways to repair Spirit Weapons.
    • *...What? Is this detail really relevant?
  • Mana use scales accordingly with how many potions are being made.
    • *Hello captain obvious!
  • It is highly recommended that one stands next to a Mana Tunnel when attempting to make many potions in one sitting. This provides accelerated Mana regeneration.
    • It is also recommended to use Meditation for a fast MP recovery. A high rank Meditation will almost prevent Potion Making from decreasing your MP. However keep in mind that Stamina regeneration is halted when Meditation is left on.
    • Playing Enduring Melody for a little while after each set of potions will both regenerate stamina, even while meditating, and further augment mana regeneration.
    • One can also use Demigod to produce unlimited mana for potions for up to 4 minutes at rank 1 Awakening of Light. This is recommended for players whose Awakening of Light is already rank one and has almost full training, and who therefore don't stand to lose much by using Demigod outside of combat.
    • *What is this irrelevancy? This should be in tips, not details.

*Asterisks are comments.

moved some things around and reworded a few. Spirit Weapon Repair is kinda relevant since it is the only way to repair spriti outside of NX items, along with the appropriate weapon of course.

Zinc/Tin/Nickel are used in Potion Making come G17S2?

Zinc/Tin/Nickel are used in Potion Making come G17S2?

I have not seen any word of this, yet the Zinc/Tin/Nickel Ore Fragment pages all have an unreleased content bar at the bottom that says they are used in Potion Making after G17 S2.

Is this an error, or is there really going to be use for them? If so, what can be made with them?

Kave Johnson (talk)09:47, 19 October 2012

Yes they are and you make Marionette Health Potions. Also, it'll be easier to get those ores now since in Emain Macha they will be adding a Metal Conversion PTJ, an alchemy shop, and a dry oven.

Pyro - (Talk)10:26, 19 October 2012

Okay, now that is cool.

Now, my question to you is where are they adding this stuff? What section of town is the alchemy (and/or puppet) shop in? Do you have a map or picture I can look at?

Kave Johnson (talk)16:27, 19 October 2012

Emain Macha#Map, it's directly west of the weapon shop and along the path to the castle. That's also where the puppet shop is, which sells puppet handles and repairs them. (To buy marionettes you go to item shop, not puppet shop. Though, you'd only want to buy them if you want a dyable version of the marionette instead of grayscale or want an item shop-only marionette. These item-form marionettes don't expire or contribute to stats/damage in any way.)

Metal heals wood? O-o

Infodude575 (talk)10:31, 19 October 2012

For a puppet maybe?. . . I personally think they should've use fine and finest firewood for those potions.

Pyro - (Talk)11:12, 19 October 2012

Fine/Finest firewood? Nonononono. That would make marionette potions expensive as FFFFF... Plus, at least it finally gives some use to these previously useless pieces of scrap metal.

They could've just used them in synthesis recipes. Like, how about 1 arat+1 HW+1 special metal+1 x=30 x or something. It'd make more sense to liquify wood to feed a puppet rather than liquify metal. . .

Production parties for Potion Making

Does anyone have any information on how high rank potion making affects production parties when you are making potions? It just seems odd. Unlike carpentry or weaving, etc, the success rate for potion making seems only influenced by production mastery. (Just talking about the party itself, not things like rain or Mondays.)

For example, my friend is r6 Potion Making. When he joined my party I only got a 1% increase (due to his production mastery rank.) Would a higher rank be more effective, maybe r1 or master title?

Frogstar10:06, 21 September 2011

It's 1% if he's lower rank than you. 5% (of normal %) if he's similar rank or higher. Been potion making for a long time. This is how it works. Also keep in mind people on pets and other etc.

AWESOME. Thank you!
