Sitting or Standing..?

Do you have to be sitting in the pool (or very near, etc.), or can you stand? Which would make no sense at all, but I won't add anything that isn't confirmed.--Яειм 's Talk 20:57, 8 December 2009 (UTC)

You have to be seated/resting. As long as you see the glowing-effect about you (similar to equipment combination effects), then you're "in the pool" and being affected.Demaetri (Talk) 04:08, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

Title: Friend of Monkey

I got the title "friend of Monkey" feeding these guys... but I don't have the exact amounts that I fed them to get it. I don't want to leave incomplete info on the main page... --Jspillers 05:31, 11 December 2009 (UTC)

I was mass feeding monkeys then I noticed that if you feed a monkey consecutively, they will eventually run out of items. Perhaps there is a set inventory that a monkey has and can be used to predict how many of an item each monkey keeps instock? --Ragingfury 05:12, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

After gifting a monkey 10 items, you will receive a message that the monkey no longer has any items to give. They re-generate a "gift" at a rate of about 1 per minute. -- Jspillers | Talk 12:31, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Ego + springs

My ego asked to be fed like 3 times in 10 mins in the spring I think springs make your ego hungry faster! --From Ariel 20:11, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Do you remember which spring it was, so we can investigate? --Zaros 00:40, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

I think Monkeys has a "normal" level of food preference too

Because I fed it strawberries and got the items from a normal level section. But I'm not sure by what you mean by Hated foods... --Dra6o0n 23:24, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Strawberries are from the dislike list. If you feed it items from that list, you will get "Normal" items. Strawberry milk, on the other hand, supposedly gives you items from the "Like" reward list. Also, I'm really doubting the validity of liquid food items on "Like"...I fed those damn monkeys 100k worth of Apple Juices, Orange Juices, and Lemon Juices from Wanst and all I got was items from the Normal list, whereas the moment I fed them Roasted Bacon I started getting "Like" list items. I also tested all of the BnRs, Screwdrivers etc and they all gave Normal rewards. I won't change the list because I'm not sure on all of the contents, but when I get time to test them all I'll fix this atrocity if no one else has by then. --Book 20:04, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

I've been told that all store bought food was automatically considered "Normal." I tested this with about 50k worth of Apple and Orange Juices and this seems to be true.--Ragingfury 17:26, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

"Grades of foods given to the Monkeys WILL affect the reward given, but only on 2 and 3 star dishes." Some store bought food is three and four star, therefore it gives Like items. --Book 07:38, 30 December 2009 (UTC)
I made a note on the main page stating that the information posted regarding food quality is only proven on player-prepared dishes. I'll investigate further with store-purchased food versus player-produced food of the same quality and see what results I get. -- Jspillers | Talk 12:36, 31 December 2009 (UTC)

Beef Steak

Beef Steak was listed in the Disliked Food and Liked Food lists. I removed it from the Disliked Food list as I assume this was a 3 star version listed there by mistake while the Liked Food list I assume had the 4 or 5 star version correctly entered. If this is incorrect then please enter it into the list it belongs in. --ZRoc (Talk) 13:21, 23 January 2010 (UTC)

Recovery of Potion Poisoning Status Loss

I have personally experienced a lack of status recovery by the white spring, as have many of my friends. Sometimes all stats lost through Potion Poisoning are recovered, sometimes only some, and sometimes only the Potion Poisoning status itself is cured with no lost stats regained at all.

Does anyone know why the spring's recovery capability seems to vary so drastically? --Trigger 04:14, 16 March 2010 (CST)

Okay, for some reason I just tried this recently... But I was potion poisoning myself to death for about a few hours, then I went to hotspring. I went to the white one to recover my potion poisoning but apparently it only recovered my potion poison ailment and the lost stats (STR and WILL and INT) weren't regained at all. However, I tried testing something and I tried potion poisoning myself back again then sat back down in the hotspring. For some reason after a few seconds it restored my potion poisoning status and also the STR/WILL/INT. --~Sky of Ruairi~ 15:23, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Different prizes from different monkey groups

It seems that the different groups of four monkeys give different prizes. Sometimes, I get all gems, other times all potions. --Kefka 04:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Need a list revamp or organization

the liked foods and disliked foods list is getting a bit long... i think we should try and figure out if we should have it be a hidden list or have some type of table that makes it shorter on the page--chrissy of hailfire 14:30, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

tell me if you like it, or, like, the code is rather simple, you can find it on Wiki Tips for New Editors -- ladywinter ~{talk page}~ 16:38, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Weight Rate

I'm wondering what the rate is of how long it takes to loose or gain weight. Maybe 1 point per 10 minutes? Just a total guess.

Rush1996 (talk)15:52, 29 September 2014

Shrinking & Giants.

I had my giant sit in the spring that shrinks muscles for a solid half hour. He came out looking no different.

Likalaruku (talk)20:50, 4 April 2014

Your appearance will only reset to the default value. To go even lower, you will need to eat foods. For starters Berries will work for overall apperence. If you want to focus on the upper/lower body, try Tomato Basil Salad for lower body, Vegetable Canape for upper body. Both of these can be made through rank F Cooking. You can also try Corn Tea for overall appearance.

Do note that even if Weight is below the threshold, no changes will occur until the upper/lower body is affected in some way.

Feeding monkey with new dishes

So... I suppose the dishes that come out on later updates are like unstarred foods? Because I just fed a 3-star and 4-star Shrimp Bruschetta and got the rewards from the same list

Yuugen15:58, 3 February 2012

Im testing the friendship shrimp fried rice and such on them due to the doki doki update.

VIP/Style Tab/Equipment affecting hot spring function?

Okay so, training cooking and my character got fat. I go to the hot spring, strip down to underwear to be able to see when a good time to leave is. About 30 minutes later, I'm skinny again.

Fast forward to the next day: I have on mana reduc/nuadha set items, and clothes (including wings) in my style tab. I was there for over an hour and never lost any weight. I also spent an entire day eating berries every 20 minutes or so, got the weight loss message but my character only got fatter?

Can anyone contribute to this? I might try it on a character I don't care about later.

Linxindao (talk)10:34, 2 February 2014

Either that, or this time I ate so much the second day of training cooking that my character slowly became perma fat.

Linxindao (talk)10:36, 2 February 2014

Maybe you sat on the wrong hotspring?

Warning!!! Consuming food when your Hunger is full will result in weight gain. Stats from food will never change if full. (There are some exceptions)

— -Appearance

Nise Panda (talk)10:38, 2 February 2014

No, I did not, I went to both the muscle loss AND the weight loss hotsprings.

Linxindao (talk)14:58, 3 February 2014

Update: My character somehow got glitched fat. I sat naked in the weight loss hotspring for around four hours and didn't lose any weight.

Here are a few circumstances surrounding the instance: A.) I was using a dreamcatcher to change into NPCs and various mobs frequently right after eating. B.) I ate the food in my homestead, and I didn't get fat until I left the homestead. C.) I almost always have equips in every available slot, including cupid wings in my style tab.

Linxindao (talk)15:02, 3 February 2014

I'm not sure what would be affecting it then. I have never really ran into either of those problems.

レキシス・ミカヤ (talk)15:29, 3 February 2014

Were you in your homestead a full tick after eating the food? Weight changes are applied every five minutes since the server restart, sometime before a server goes off maint.

Kapra - (Talk)15:36, 3 February 2014

Do note that You will never lose past the default appearance values unless you eat something that loses weight. Items may also alter your appearance to make you appear thinner/fatter, which would make it appear that you didn't lose/gain weight.

レキシス・ミカヤ (talk)15:02, 3 February 2014

I may have gotten the book "A Campfire Story" from the monkeys

Tranquility Spring Recovery Rate

I entered the spring and sat down with a severe case of potion poisoning, seconds later my stats were fully recovered. Does the spring now do a full recovery or only a faster recovery? I had negative will, and it went back to my normal 438, ~250int, went to 653int, and lastly ~100Str went to 306 Str. The entire recovery was done when one of those blue recovery circles appeared.

Willi096 (talk)16:53, 23 December 2013

Extremely high recovery.

ベリサ・マイルスター (talk)17:08, 23 December 2013

Willi096 (talk)17:18, 23 December 2013

I thought it was a full recovery?

Ikkisuki (talk)22:49, 23 December 2013

I don't know, I don't go often o-o;

ベリサ・マイルスター (talk)22:54, 23 December 2013

How about we three get severely injured and try healing there a few times?

Willi096 (talk)23:24, 23 December 2013

Only two loved foods?

No one's found anymore than two? what distinguishes them from liked? the message when given o-o?

Excitedly takes the food rather than happily. I'm fairly sure if there were more than just two, someone (also counting other servers) would've found it by now.

Zugon (Talk | contribs)08:20, 7 June 2013

Potential 3-5 star food difference

So I've been feeding monkeys a bit, and I seem to be unable to recieve Dungeon Pass Boxes from 3-star liked foods, though I recieve them fairly often from 4-star liked foods. Any possibility that there's a difference?

Zugon (Talk | contribs)15:01, 21 January 2013

Wood Board

Either Glutton Monkey doesn't give wood board as rewards, or they've been taken out of rewards list.. :l havent gotten one after many tries. :C

Just wondering if ANYONE has actually gotten a Wood Board from the Glutton Monkey by feeding it Disliked Food... Because 150+ Basils and Peppers haven't gotten me a single one so far x_X

Elide (talk)15:52, 9 October 2012

I think it's only the regular monkeys.

Glutton Monkey

As of the Bard update, there is now a Glutton monkey sitting in every hot spring. Talking to him brings up a window similar to the Ego feeding window, and you can give him food. I think he has replaced feeding normal monkeys, and the reward list has been updates, because attempting to feed the normal monkeys with a hazelnut mushroom brings up untranslated text The first time you feed a glutton monkey gives you an event giftbox.

I've been stuffing him with hazelnut mushrooms (disliked food) So far, I have gotten

  • 1 firewood
  • 1 mp30
  • Reshaping Your Body (book) (how dare you, you...monkey!)
  • 1 shrimp
  • 1 monkey fur
  • 1 hp30
  • Cooking on your Own Vol 2

and from the box I have gotten 3 cookies of dexterity

Oneris13:31, 26 July 2012

That box is from the hot springs event. it is NOT a reward from the monkeys. So thank you for not adding it on the list of rewards.

Aubog00723:35, 26 July 2012

Btw, I found out that a cheap 'liked' food that monkeys like is 500 gold 1x2 apple juice. You can buy a huge amount of that, and go to the glutton monkey, and feed it to death to get your dungeon pass boxes, firework boxes, statue jars, etc.

But over time when I feed these glutton monkeys the same food over and over again, the 'quality' of rewards started dropping...

Dra6o0n (talk)00:09, 9 September 2012

Statue jars? Come again?

Ah. I see. Are those supposed to be on the list too?

Yep, they're potential rewards.

--Aramet (Talk)00:39, 9 September 2012

I can do a single run with 50k gold rather easily, since I can make the gold from rafting to get 4000 gold per 11 stars. After I get large stacks of dungeon pass boxes I'll sell them for a hefty sum! XD

Granted, I probably already wasted 100k on food items to trade it with... But at least I gained stuff that's not trash and maybe usable (tons of potions).

Also, is the loved food REALLY just those 2? Meaning you must have r9 cooking to attain loved food rewards...

Dra6o0n (talk)00:12, 9 September 2012

Yes. Just those two.

Aubog007 (talk)05:11, 9 September 2012

Shades of special colors?

I've been getting yellow and purple hatchets from the hot spring spirit, but their colors are not identical to the ones on the special hatchet page. Are they still the same items, or can there be varying shades of special colors?

Oneris17:27, 28 July 2012

Varying shades of special colors are present on some other equipment pages. They're referred to as types. (Type 1, Type 2, etc.)

Zugon (Talk | contribs)21:03, 28 July 2012

Not sure how Mabi wiki works the way contributors place information on the site but i would like to add an update regarding the spirit box.

S•A•R•I•A20:36, 30 June 2012

Ehh...I can ask my friends if there was one...I'm pretty sure one of them went wyvern hunting then afked in the hotspring for healing...where is it located?

S•A•R•I•A20:20, 30 June 2012

It was apparently there for reasons unknown. The most likely cause was the Bard Update being partially added.

S•A•R•I•A20:29, 30 June 2012

[1] And no, this has nothing to do with the bard update.

Pyro - (Talk)20:33, 30 June 2012

I didn't say the bard update was implemented...I said parts of it.

S•A•R•I•A20:39, 30 June 2012

Well it's there now...might as make use of it.

S•A•R•I•A20:35, 30 June 2012

Except you can't. I found it at 11:00 AM and it was closed.

Infodude57520:36, 30 June 2012

It's broken? well in that case...*adds to bugs page*

S•A•R•I•A20:37, 30 June 2012

As of Cooking revamp

I don't know when it was last tested, but I assume the change occured during the cooking revamp that made higher quality dishes harder to make. It seems that 3 star foods now stay in their normal category. Ie. Baked Potatoes (Liked Food) 3 star still give liked food rewards. More testing should probably be done, but this seems to be the case.

tl:dr - I think the Monkeys are more lenient with the quality of food now.
Ebrithil of Ruari00:16, 2 May 2012

Healing spring

So, the recovery effect happens every 10 seconds, and it restores 7 wound points, 20 HP, 20 MP, and 20 stamina, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't heal stamina past the hunger point. It's also separate from your rest/meditation rate, I believe... Not sure where/if I should put it into the article, so leaving it here. xD
