Basic Information

• Possesses Teleportation, and can only move through that method.
• All of its attacks are independent skills capable of causing a Drain Debuff.
  • A ghastly aura appears when hit by its attacks.
  • The Drain Debuff slowly depletes Health, Mana, and Stamina when hit.
    • Depletion speed is proportional to the remaining Life, Mana, and Stamina.
• All of its attacks also bypass invulnerability frames.

[show]Notes & Advice Notes If the player is hit by any of the above attacks, small skulls will float around the player. During this period, the player's HP, Mana, and Stamina will be rapidly drained. May not be targeted by Ice Spear. Advanced magic such as Thunder's charges will miss if it uses Grim Reaper Windmill. It may be difficult for melee users due to its Grim Reaper Windmill. The G13 version has a slower AI than the normal one. It may instantly retaliate with Grim Reaper Windmill for every time it is hit by Shock. If it is defeated while it is still using Grim Reaper Windmill it will automaticly use it before it drops dead. Capable of being stunned, being unable to retaliate. Advice Powerful single-hit skills are effective due to its high defense. Using Windmill or Smash is not recommended due to large animation delays that may cause you to get hit. If a large amount of damage is done, the Grim Reaper may become stunned. When a white ghastly aura appears around the Reaper, it is stunned. Using ranged attacks with a spirited or upgraded Leather Long Bow is fairly effective, since it allows you to keep your distance. Stick near the Grim Reaper's sides and, preferably, back, as they are safe from its horizontal and vertical attacks. However, it still moves around frequently, so focus on its movements. When it uses Grim Reaper Windmill (signified by raising its scythe in the air and spinning around), run away in a straight line to get away from it. Using pets that have a melee-only AI is very effective, but be sure to stock up on Phoenix Feathers. Giants are capable of using Knuckles and a pet with a melee-only AI set to do a no-skill wail. Due to the rapid hits landing so frequently on the Grim Reaper, he will most likely be unable to use skills or teleport away. The character should avoid using skills, as this could break the combo. Keeping the Elsinore Ghosts alive by luring the Grim Reaper away with Ranged Attack or magic allows the player to use Charge on one of the ghosts to evade Grim Reaper Windmill. An easy way for melee characters to defeat the Grim Reaper is to dual-wield Daggers and hit it repeatedly with normal attacks. When it begins to execute its horizontal or vertical attack, run behind his back. This particularly works well on the Generation 13 boss. Hitting the Grim Reaper with Spear of Light will prevent him from attacking momentarily. By rotating pets and having them spam basic attack until the Grim Reaper drills down to use Grim Reaper Windmill it is possible to spam Smash and Magnum Shot on it without it ever aggro-ing the player. Grim Reaper Windmill will cancel when the pet is desummoned though the animation for it will still play. Using a hit and run strategy with lance charge while mounted is another way of defeating the Grim Reaper.

[show]Notes & Advice Notes Tagar is invulnerable to damage until two pillars fall on her. She must be lured into striking the pillar while avoiding being hit. Only pillars that have a red circle highlighted on the ground will take damage. It may take a couple of hits to collapse the pillar. Tagar must be inside the circle to make it work. She will teleport up to 3x, consecutively, if the player is near her. Afterwards Tagar will once again pause. She can teleport up to the distance of 3 pillars. Tagar's range of detection is less than 4 pillars. If the player goes beyond her detection, she will likely use her teleport attack to move to the player. She can be lured out of the ruins. Her breath attack will affect you if any of the knights are targeted by it. Her Grim Reaper Windmill is about as wide as 2 pillars. Advice It is best to move out of the way just after she fully disappears underground. Tagar will appear a couple of seconds later and a few meters off where the player was once before she teleported. Her attack animation is within range of where the player was once standing. There is a chance she will appear directly on top of the player and get a guaranteed hit (potential bug?). If this occurs, you WILL be downed at least a few times during the mission, so bring plenty of soul stones. A mount is not necessary, but are very useful to distract her aggro from the player and to make quicker exits. This is a Shadow Mission, take advantage of the features and skills useful within one.

Trivia

• Grim Reaper made a minor appearance in the Puzzlemaster Riddle Events, where he releases Paul Albert's soul from the Puzzlemaster's body.
• Grim Reaper is the only Guardian of Avon who does not have a running animation.
