They are now B (Purple) grade [maybe with the implementation of the Fynni Gem System?], so if I'm correct; 1) They'd need a new grade 2) All the 'Applies To' would become italicized, yes?
Have r1 Taming, and have used 200 Courcle Taming Bait with an Ancient Taming Cane, and haven't been able to tame one of the Barri Basic Boss variants. They have significantly mroe health than the other variant I've encountered in Fiodh, so I wonder if they're immune/very resistant to taming. I used <20 bait on Alby Advanced's Cobweb Mummy, Spider Goblin, and the Stone Horse Keeper Boss of Longa Normal.
Seem to have the same problem with Small Argus of Rundal Advanced. It should be noted that I'm trying ~50 bait per enemy -not all on one-, and that I am not given the 'Some animals just can't be tamed' message; it gives the normal fail message.
Success is (at least) combat power based so you could simply be facing rates which are significantly < 1%. Lowering health like pokemon might help but I don't think we know for sure. Of course, the dungeon update messed with a lot of stuff for taming that was never addressed...
I had a lot of trouble with getting the quest done that requires 90 tamed monsters with 5 Stars I have edited a bunch so that others dont have the trouble I did digging through the monsters to find out which one is the 5 Star or even tamable since due to the revamp many of the original monsters are no longer tamable unless you use an alternative source. Though I am still left with the issue of a few monsters that I just could not figure out. So if anyone has done the work to tame these monsters let me know please or just edit the wiki. Banshee and Cyclops I cannot even find low enough CP to tame at all the rest I simply can't find 5 Star options. Cloaker, White, Grendel, Troll, Ghoul, Grumbill, Gremlin, Wolf, Kobold, and Bat. If you know the location of any of these monsters that are good alternatives to the original taming options and will provide 5 stars please edit the page.
So I've started taming after the Uladh dungeon revamp and I'm wondering if it made any changes to the stars of monsters tamed. For instance, I can tame a ghost cloaker in peaca basic and still only get 1 star instead of 5 for the bolded monster. Also I noticed the CPs of monsters are different than listed on wiki, likely due to the revamp, and most of them are surprisingly lower than they're listed on the wiki even though the monsters actually got stronger from the revamp. Also curious if taming a lich or banshee is impossible now because their CP has gone up quite a bit, because I've used hundreds of bait with Taming Wild Animals master title, MMO Junkie: Pokotaro's Partner second title, and taming success rate 8 echo stone, or are they just really that hard to tame?
Er, I can't really confirm this, but I think any monsters that are the "Giant" version can't be tamed. Only tested this on the giant boars and giant jackals. Also, the golemns at Scathach Beach aren't tame-able. They gave off the message that they can't be tamed. Just a note to any one that's looking to tame.
- Where do you see the stars in-game?
- Can stars be overwritten? Like taming a 5-star overwrites a 4-star and vise versa?
Stars show up when you tame every monster. Taming a 5 star overwrites a 4 star, but a 4 star does not overwrite a 5 star. A better 5 star may overwrite a 5 star though.
I only have a White Spider in my journal, but I don't see any stars in the journal, assuming the spider has any. Also what are "better" 5 stars? What I'm really wondering is how are there two same type of star ratings but with different qualities?
It's something that requires "excess tools" to see them as I recall. I'm using them for research's sake and in hopes to clean up this page.
It doesn't really require tools. If you get a better 5 star monster you'll get a popup saying you tamed a 5 star monster. That doesn't happen if you tame a lower 5 star monster. Infodude you have to have every single type of monster in the journal tamed before you can see stars. A hard mode skeleton is 5 stars, but a hard mode metal skeleton is a better 5 star, and you will get a popup after taming it if you got the normal hard mode skeleton as your first 5 star. *Has max stars in every category*
They are in the journal. http://i.imgur.com/smXZd8k.png
I know there's Bold = 5, but what about the rest...?
I am aware that you can't go down in stars, but I have noticed a few things and made separate notes.
I'm not sure if it's really needed besides for full complete information, which may be nice, and some monsters don't really have other star levels, and it'll be really hard to get the info, but if you really want to we could maybe cut up the "applies to" column into 5 columns for stars. Only the 5 stars and collection counts for the quests and achievements, though. As a side note, I see a monster on the peaca abyss list as white and black horned horses, but I haven't gotten any to appear for myself yet, but maybe they might be 5 star horses? Any one try it yet?
Well, I wanted it to be simplifed a bit using the JP wiki's style of format, leaving stars next to the monster name.
Anyways If anyone wants to see the info: Mabinogi JP Wiki's Taming Collection Journal
A separate column or total redesign of this page might be necessary to change it up though. I'll fiddle around with it tonight.
There are two missing taming entries in this guide. One is for the Iguana, and the other is for the Blue-footed Booby. The one for "Iguana" is directly after the "Lost Dog" entry, and the one for the "Blue-footed Booby" is directly after the "Ostrich" entry.
I would've added these to the table myself, but I wasn't exactly sure how to do so. So if somebody could add those to the page it'd be greatly appreciated.
I see the spiders list has a lot of question marks so I'm gonna test those very soon. But I can tell you that Giant Spider and Giant White Spiders are tamable. I'll post here when I get any more information. o:
I'd like to clear this up for anyone wondering.
Hardmode dungeons DO affect taming journal star rating. Try taming a Goblin in standard Ciar, then the same Goblin in Ciar HM. The Hardmode Goblin will give you a 5-star entry while the normal Goblin will not.
By contrast, the difficulty of Shadow Missions and Theater Missions does NOT affect star rating.
