Basic Information

  • The talent system is a stat, title, and skill specialization system.
  • You may change talents upon character creation or rebirth.
    • Characters that were created before the Generation 17, Season 1 Update may choose their first talent upon logging in.
    • The talent you select will have an effect on:
      • Which skills receive double skill training and a training exp bonus when applicable
        • Some skills receive skill training benefits from multiple talents.
      • Base stat bonus – Stats gained upon selecting the talent
      • Leveling stat bonus – Stats gained upon leveling up
      • Aging stat bonus – Stats gained upon aging until the age of 20
  • Base, leveling, and aging stat bonuses stack with base character growth stats.
  • Talents themselves also provide a stat boost when ranked up. These stats are permanent regardless of which talent is selected.

Life-based Talents

For Gathering Bonus Experience, see Gathering.
  • All Life skill-based Talents receive:
    • 2x Production Experience (Experience points gained when successfully producing or gathering an item).
    • Experience for Gathering.
    • +10% Part-Time Job completion reward.
    • Information regarding the Smuggler's location and the Trade Good will scroll across the top of the screen for Commerce.
      • When the Smuggler appears, the commerce post displays how much he is willing to pay for an item.
  • The Mercantile Talent can randomly receive a Special Quest to obtain pieces of the Belmont Set.
  • Some Talents can craft Talent-only items:
  • All items created through Blacksmithing, Carpentry, and Tailoring will receive a slight stat boost when in specific talents.
    • Shields will receive an additional 1 Defense.
    • Armor will receive an additional 1 Protection.
      • Warning: Light Armors crafted through Tailoring require the Blacksmith Talent (and similarly, its Grandmaster).
    • Clothing will receive an additional 1 Defense.
    • Helmets, gauntlets, and boots will receive an additional 1 Durability.
    • Weapons will receive an additional 1 Minimum Damage and 2 Maximum Damage.

Talent Levels

  • Talents start at level 1 and max out at level 16.
  • Talents level similarly to skills (where level 1 is rank F and level 15 is rank 1) but do not require AP and are based on the ranks of the skills that talent specializes in.
  • Each skill gives a different amount of talent experience based on the player's race and the skill's rank. The accumulation of a certain amount of experience in a talent causes the talent to rank.
    • Deranking skills will cause one to lose talent experience and level if the accumulated experience goes below the acquired amount.
    • Perfect training or mastering a skill does not provide additional talent experience.
  • Level 16 (Grandmaster) cannot be reached through talent experience. Instead, the player must reach level 15 (Master) and then take several tests from Lezzaro.
    • For more information on Grandmaster status, see Grandmaster.
    • Lowering Talent level during or after the Grandmaster tests will cause the player to lose their Grandmaster standing until they re-level the Talent.
  • Talent levels affect what difficulties can be selected for non-Generation Shadow Missions and Theatre Missions.
    • Basic: One level 1 (Fledgling) talent
    • Intermediate: One level 5 (Naive) talent
    • Advanced: One level 7 (Senior) talent
    • Hard: One level 11 (Expert) talent
    • Elite: One level 1 (Fledgling) talent, requires an elite pass from the party leader
    • Lord: One level 15 (Master) talent, requires a Lord Pass from each party member
  • A level 11 (Expert) talent is required to enter Abyss Dungeons.
  • A level 15 (Master) talent is required to wield its affiliated Demonic Weapon (e.g. - Demonic Hellfire Cylinder requires Level 15 Battle Alchemy Talent).
  • Level 15 active Tailoring, Smithing, and Carpentry talents are required to make Demonic Scales, Demonic Ingots, and Demonic Wood Boards, respectively.
  • There are journal entries for reaching level 2 (Novice), level 5 (Naive), level 8 (Advanced), and level 11 (Expert) for each talent, which reward AP.
    • In order of the above levels, 30, 40, 60, and 100 AP is rewarded.

Trivia

  • The implementation of the Talent system replaced the Destiny system entirely, although some traits of the Destiny system still lie in the Talent system.
  • Some NPCs and monsters, such as those in the Grandmaster Mission, possess talent titles that are currently unavailable to players.
