Claimh Solas

Description

Claimh Solas (also written as Claíomh Solais and known as Sword of Light and Sword of Fire) is a legendary sword wielded by the God Nuadha. It is also the final boss of Generation 9, and appears again as the final boss of a substory in Generation 11.

Mainstream Story

Generation 9: Alchemy (Spoilers)

According to Andras, it was known as the "Sword of Light" or "Sword of Fire". It was destroyed in the 2nd Battle of Mag Tuireadh. However, Fomors used Alchemy to revive it.

According to Berched, Claimh Solas could start what was called "Noitar Arat" or "The World of Darkness." Claimh Solas was claimed to be a "Spirit Weapon" to Nuadha as well. He states that Cromm Cruaich swallowed Claimh Solas as well.

Fallon later reveals that he is working with Fomorians to support the Transmutation of Claimh Solas, and tells Cai that Claimh Solas will not "destroy" Erinn, but "reshape" it.

In the finale, Cai and the Milletian attempts to stop the resurrection of the sword by all means, though it fails as the beast appears out of the void and kills Fallon, absorbs him, and attacks Cai. Cichol appears afterward, saying that Claimh Solas' transmutation was only halfway complete, but enough to let it arise in the world.

With the help of Cai, Leymore, and Adniel, the sword falls. However, it had begun to initiate "self destruct" which could mean disaster. Leymore absorbs the shadow particles, at the cost of his own life, and succeeds.

Generation 11: Sword of the Gods (Spoilers)

It is revealed that Corrupt Alchemists are ressurecting Claimh Solas, however they could not control it and it began to rampage.

Cai later states that the sword, along with its master, Nuadha had valiantly fought in the Second Battle of Mag Tuireadh, only to be killed by Cromm Cruaich. Cai states that he wants to eliminate Claimh Solas to "honor" the fallen God.

Generation 12: Return of the Hero (Spoilers)

Yet again, Corrupt Alchemists are reviving Claimh Solas. Before it could rampage, it, and the Alchemists, suddenly fell. Nuadha, Master of Claimh Solas, appears in front of the sword.

The God King reveals that Claimh Solas' roar (followed by the three interferences with the Fomorians/Corrupt Alchemists) had summoned its master to Erinn.

Notes & Advice Notes Claimh Solas is the final boss of the G9 mainstream. It transforms into a stronger form once it has been weakened to about half HP. Light Sword skill is only available after its transformation. You can use Adniel's Hornpipe on it after the roof of the boss room collapses (when his HP is about 1/3 a cutscene will appear). After the roof is gone, you might want to use Adniel's Horn to break his shield. Unlike other fomors, its Life Drain only effects enemies in front of it. Advice After the player brings Claimh Solas down to half of its HP, Claimh Solas will transform into a stronger form revealing swords. A roar, or shriek is an indication that it is about to use the Light Sword skill. It is possible to dodge or avoid this attack by conducting Windmill several seconds after. Using knockdown attacks is more effective than repeated spam of multiple attacks. Multiple people spamming high-ranked windmill (with timing)can be used to dispatch Claimh Solas quickly without it attacking.

Notes & Advice Notes About the same as the G9 version, but uses Light of Sword from the start (not dependent on form). Life Drain does not affect Cai but can damage you from across the chamber. Be careful not to get hit by Light of Sword as it might knock you back and let it charge up Life Drain. Advice You have the Brionac by now. Transform into a Demigod and equip the Brionac, and click Spear of God icon in the Brionac Interface. Shock is not an alternative for Demigod. This will not work if you are sided with Morrighan for your Demigod Support. Alternatively, a powerful enough Golem can kill him very quickly without the need to resort to using Brionac.

• Claimh Solas has displayed Self-Destruct in a cutscene.
• In the Generation 12 Credits, Claimh Solas is written as "ClaimhSolas."
• Claíomh Solais means "Sword of Light" in Irish Gaelic. The nickname is also stated in-game.
• In the Irish Mythology, Claíomh Solais is one of the four treasures (or jewels) of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the other three being Lia Fáil, the Spear of Lugh (Brionac) and the Magic Cauldron. It is said that no one ever escaped from Claíomh Solais once it was drawn from its sheath, and no one could resist it.
