After the Black Dragon, Bhafel, overwhelms the defending forces of the Shyllien Nature Reserve, Maike appears to the Milletian, who was part of the defending force, and requests them to leave, stating the elves are preparing to reclaim it. The Milletian tries to explain a similar event occurred with the giants of Vales attempting to recapture the Hillwen Mine from Languhiris, but Maike immediately brushes it off and angrily declares that the elves will not fall like the "oafish Giants" and states they were crushed because they were weak, they always were weak, and they will always be weak. Disgusted with the Milletian, he states ever say such a thing again, he will gladly cut the tongue from their mouth, then orders them to get out of his sight.
When Millia attempts to prepare the real charm, Lelach suggests to request aid from the elves to drive back the Cessair's ambush. Upon the Milletian's arrival, Maike orders them to be removed from Filia, but allows them to speak up. He then states that what they are doing does not concern the elves, and orders the Milletian to be removed forcefully.
However, Maike appears at the last second before the battle starts. After the fight, Maike says that he helped because people return favors; the Milletian helped fight off the attackers against the Shyllien Nature Reserve and in return the elves devised an escape plan when they failed. Now, because Maike helped the Milletian recover their powers, they have to help the elves reclaim the Shyllien Nature Reserve.
Maike leads the Milletian to Shyllien Nature Reserve, where he smiles for the very first time upon greeting Castanea. After Shyllien Nature Reserve is successfully recaptured, Millia has the Milletian request aid from Maike again to help defeat the Cessair in Zardine. Maike agrees, on the condition they lead the entire elven forces and the elves receive all the spoils from battle; if any giant objects, they will be dealt with harshly.
However, upon arrival at Zardine, Maike bickers with the giant captain Dowra about searching territory. The Milletian eventually stops the two and Maike grudgingly agrees to scout elsewhere. Unfortunately, Maike's forces soon stumble upon the Unknown Men, and after a battle their leader Black Mask instantly subdues the other Milletians, who transforms into demons and attack Maike and his forces.
Maike orders a retreat from the onslaught and regroups near Raspa Volcano. After Dowra suggests to launch a counterattack, Maike insults her by stating she only cares about killing and disagrees, reasoning that his and her soldiers are either parents, children, or finaces and asks if she had ever lost a loved one, but Dowra counters by stating that if they do not attack, Vales will fall and then so will Filia. Millia approaches and states that their soldiers can hear them bickering, then agrees with Dowra that attacking would be the best option, as retreating would leave them at a disadvantage.
Sometime later, Maike receives the false report that the elves "discovered" in Shyllien Nature Reserve about the Milletians becoming monsters. Maike orders the Milletians, now unconscious and reverted to normal, restrained and bound until they confirm that they are not the enemy.
After the Milletian returns, Maike notices that they lost the charm and is skeptical about their demon transformation. Maike then dismisses their pleas of innocence, stating that the Cessair can simply turn the Milletian against their allies again as they please due to no longer being immune to their magic, and tries to detain them, with Dowra agreeing with him, but an owl helps them escape.
Later, after the Milletian saves Krug from being assassinated by Cessair's Heart, Kirine returns the favor by clearing up the misunderstanding between them and the elves.
In the drama commentary, Maike is asked about his angry personality, yet he smiled back in Episode 5 for Castanea. Maike explains that he simply respects his chief and they are like-minded in that they both despise giants. He then grows ill about the tiresome questions as well as the presence of Dowra, and leaves the set. Dowra says he has been on the edge lately.
Maike discusses with Odran and Dowra on dealing with the Cessair. Maike disagrees with their plans of using full force, considering that the Cessair have too many numbers. Shamala shortly arrives and warns them of the Cessair's plan to use Millia as a sacrifice; Dowra suggests immediately rallying and full force, but Maike once again disagrees stating their weapons will tear them apart. After Akule refuses to use his charms as weapon, Maike suggests using the unstable properties of Hillwen and Shyllien, but Akule states destroying Renes will result disastrous consequences. Ordan then suggests using decoys; Maike refuses wondering how to draw their enemies out, but finally agrees to the plan when Odran suggests using convincing targets.
Maike and his forces pretend to build a camp along the beach to the east of Pera Volcano while engaging enemy forces.
Maike, Dowra, and Odran regroup. As Dowra and Odran muse on how they almost died in the battle, Maike reminds them of the injured. The three leaders stare at each other for a moment and then turn to their subordinates as if nothing had happened.
