Doppelganger (Family)
- For the skill, see Doppelganger.
Basic Information
- Doppelgangers are unique monsters that are able to mimic their enemies in various ways.
- They first appear as Shadow Alchemists, but eventually will change their appearance to match their opponent's Equipment, In-Game Name, Guild, and Title.
- The Doppelganger normally copies the party leader, but may copy anyone else if aggroed.
- If the party leader is too far from the Doppelganger, it will remain in its original form.
- The Doppelganger will say whatever the copied player is saying at exactly the same time.
- Copied players as well as their pets are considered enemies to other players and are subject to attack.
- It may be advised that the player that has been copied stay out of the fight if party members happen to use multi-hitting skills (e.g. Windmill, Smash Splash Damage, etc.).
- There are several ways to tell the Doppelganger apart from the person it copied:
- The Doppelganger does not copy Prefix Titles, Talent Titles, or equipped Wings.
- The Doppelganger will always have angry emotion on its face and does not have a mouth or lips.
- The Doppelganger's undergarments is darker than a regular player's.
- The Doppelganger always has the same weapon: a Cylinder, Dual Wielded Longswords (Human), Great Mallet (Giant), and Long Bow (Elf).
- The player who is copied can summon a pet in "healing" AI mode or any AI that has it follow the master to avoid confusion as well.
- If the player is using "the Married" title, the Doppelganger will not have the player's partner in its title.
- If the Doppelganger is copying someone who is using a guild title, the guild name is in place of the title.
- Other things to note:
- Doppelgangers never resort to Normal Attacks. However, their Reserve Attack will still activate.
- If you make any changes to your appearance after the Doppelganger has copied you (e.g. put on or take off a robe), after some time the doppelganger will "update" its appearance to copy your changes.
- Sometimes the Doppelganger will take the form of another player in the mission in the middle of fighting. This has been observed to happen when someone is knocked back by it or a clone. It also always happens when the Doppelganger uses Teleportation.
- If an uncopied Doppelganger is too far away from the target it intends to mimic, it will teleport to him/her regardless of distance.
- There is a rare possibility that the Doppelganger will be cloned out of two people: one person's appearance and another's clothing.
- However, if the other person's clothing cannot be worn due to race restrictions, the Doppelganger's body will turn invisible, with only its head, hands, and feet showing.
- If you successfully tame the Doppelganger, it will revert back to its original form, but still carry a weapon.
- If a person in the party has at least rank F (if not higher) Shock, the Doppelganger can be safely stunned during the skill's duration.
- It can be snared by Puppet's Snare, allowing an opening for attacks.
- Doppelgangers can be shut down using Somersault Kick, which prevents it from attacking entirely.
