Mabi Tips For Users and Editors
Mabinogi is constantly growing and there are always things we can work on here.
Upon joining the team, know our policy. It is your script, guideline, they are our rules.
This is not a luxury job that most people think it is upon joining, though it can be fun!
If you enjoy volunteer work or just simply helping fellow players use this resource, then come help us make it a better place!
There should never be competition, since there is always something to work on here, and the userbase is always growing.
We welcome you here, but please don't be troublesome.
You could help out by just fixing some typos, grammar, and if you're thumbs with coding and tables, we want you!
As a player resource, people will look at the information as legitimate and fact, so when something is inaccurate or wrong, it will come down on us.
Please do not list assumptions or opinions here. Make sure your information is tested; or even try to include your friends or even strangers to test with you!
Players do look up to the work we do, and they appreciate it! It's super fun, and you can always help whenever you want, and can.
Here are some simple things to look for:
These are for items that do not have an in-game description.
If by chance you see this item floating around in housing, a personal shop, from a friend or in your inventory one day;
jot it down and add it here, because it's definitely needed.
Just edit the page, and where the two apostrophes are located around "desc here.", add in your text.
Be sure to look for capitalization and line breaks!
The easiest way for this is to take a screenshot and paste into msPaint, Gimp, or Paint.NET.
All icons must have a transparent background, so just edit it in one of the above.
You must crop your image tightly as large as the icon is itself. Then upload it to the respected page.
If you cannot clean your image, please request it to be cleaned in the Summary or notes.
If the icon has a number beside it, right click the item, and take your screenshot that way, crop, clean, etc.
Normally for this, you will need to take a new item and just click it in an NPC's shop for resale.
Make sure you do not hold your Ctrl key while clicking or you may not catch the value.
Some items may be just 0g, this isn't an error if it is~
Please do read the Image Policy before taking and uploading your images.
There are also tips all over the wiki on how to take wonderful photos.
Some quick things to remember:
- Take indoors unless the item glows in the dark, then an indoor and (night time) outdoor photo is nice to have!
- Do not take photos with black/white/flashy UNLESS there is a special version, which belongs in the Image Gallery of said item.
- When cropping, personally I try to keep the width/height ending at a 0 or a 5, just to keep it uniform and clean.
- Try to not have any other equipment on, but sometimes a hat or wig covering hair is helpful.
- Outlines and glow effects must be turned off!
- For more details, please check out this guide created by the ever so lovely Lexis!.
Also remember, if you are replacing images, please give a valid reason or it will be reverted.
- If an image is reverted by an admin/staff member or they ask you to stop, please do so out of respect.
These missing parts are easy to find. Click here for rates, depending on the item.
If you have a random item missing repair costs, or a friend does, just run around and check for it!
If your item is fully repaired, it's easiest to go with an unblessed item, and wait until it loses durability.
After the equal sign (=) in the page, type in your number and it will automatically label with a g.
To me, this is just a miscellaneous category that doesn't fit into the above.
Just random things that need to be put in.
This means that it's a super short page and could use more info or basic stuff.
This one is for items, NPCs, or content in-game that do not have existing pages.
You can find templates all over to set them up. You could always just go here: Category:Templates.
Usually, things that need pages have a link, but red text. Anything in blue already has an existing page.
Tips for New Players
Just about anyone would be willing to help you in-game with generations, quests, or just to pal around.
Don't be afraid to ask for help or open a party to get someone's attention.
However, there are people out there that will do things to make it hard for you.
By chance, anyone who comes up to you claiming you are a duper or an item you own is duped.
Do not trust them or fall for this.
Many users, old or new have been fooled by this.
Their item has been stolen, and they won't get it back.
It does not matter if the person looks "pro" or is a guild leader, do not trust them.
When trading items, and you want something new, rare, or worth a lot of money.
Do not accept a trade involving two players.
Normally, this takes a player with two computers, and two accounts, just to have you fooled,
by trading items and getting nothing in return.
Person A: Offering said item you wish to trade for, asking what all you have to trade.
You: Has items you are willing to trade and put it in the window.
Person A: Tosses in items, tells you to give these items to Person B, because Person B has the item you want.
Person B: Does not really have the item you are looking for, and is really Person A as well.
Only trade with one person, and make sure the item you want is the item they have.
If not, then bail.
There are also users who may offer to sell you Nexon points. If these users ask for your money or item first,
Then you are probably going to get ripped off or get your item stolen. Do not trust these users either.
Unfortunately, even sending tickets may not help get your item back.
Your best bet is just to try working to replace what you have lost.
I hope this made sense for you. (:
By all means, please spread awareness!
