Shamala claims to be purging evil demon spirits within aggressive animals around Cor that frequently attack it every night. However, due to her ability to transform into such animals, the villagers accuse her of creating the bad omen.
The Milletian, pursuing the creatures by the request of Kousai, eventually comes across and fights Shamala in her King Black Panther form. After defeating her, Shamala reveals her true self and states her mission, but warns them not to interfere. When the Milletian ignores her and continues pursuing the demons and her, Shamala reluctantly accepts their help and later gives them a potion that allows them to transform into a Giant Lion. However, at one point, Shamala is found severely injured by a large horde of demons, forcing the Milletian to draw on the powers of the Giant Lion to fend them off, then make a potion to heal her.
Shamala, after recovering from her injuries, has mysteriously vanished from Cor, leaving the village to be under siege by frequent demon attacks. It is later discovered by the Milletian that the Unknown Man was responsible for the disappearance of Shamala as well as the attacks on Cor. Shamala awakes in Solea's underground caves and makes her way out of it. However, she encounters Millia, who casts a spell on Shamala and knocks her unconscious.
Shamala, imprisoned in the Mysterious Karu Forest Ruins, is interrogated by the Black Dragon Knight who informs her that her mentor Akule is dead. He later insults her that her efforts to save Cor Village are in vain as they have rejected her, but Shamala responds that the Black Dragon Knight is no different.
Sometime later, the Milletian, having been sent to the Mysterious Karu Forest Ruins by the Black Dragon, meets up with Shamala and gives her their charm to escape. Shamala transforms into a snake to slither out of the cage, then transforms into a black panther to escape and carry the Milletian out of the ruins.
After escaping the Mysterious Karu Forest Ruins, Shamala and the Milletian agree to stick together to help ward off possession. After the Milletian foresees Millia and an aged Ruairi heading to Hillwen Mines, they go there. However, instead they find the White Dragon Languhiris and its Fomor goons raiding it. They agree to help root out the problem and join forces with the citizens of Vales, but Languhiris still proves too powerful. As the Milletian attempts to challenge it, an Unknown Man, labeled as "Cessair," appears and stops them, but Shamala appears to the Milletian's side just in time. She then warns that the Cessair's magic, the Red Eye, is what possesses them and prevents them from utilizing their full potential, including the Brionac.
The Milletian foresees Millia and Ruairi at the Connous Oasis, prompting the Milletian and Shamala to head to Shyllien Nature Reserve. As they arrive, Bhafel appears and attacks, forcing them to flee back to Filia. Just as they arrive Maike orders them to leave as the elves are preparing to retake Shyllien. The duo head to the Connous Oasis where the Milletian confronts Shamala about their foresights. Shamala explains that shamans possess this ability and this may be the work of the Gold Dragon Adniel due to their status as the Dragon Conductor, telling them of future events that they can prevent. She also believes that the Fomor attacks on Hillwen Mine and Shyllien Nature Reserve are no coincidence. Shamala then makes the Milletian drink a potion that forces them to sleep, letting them tap into their foresight once more: Millia and Ruairi are heading back to the Connous Oasis.
The Milletian learns from their dreams that Millia is just about to leave Ant Hell, but when Shamala tries to confront her, Millia angrily accuses Shamala of abandoning Akule and tries to fight her, but the Cessairs and their demon forces ambush them. After fending them off, Shamala tells Millia that the Cessairs were responsible for the disappearance of their teacher and tells Millia about a place where shamans train, possibly holding the whereabouts of their teacher, and even if they did not, they would at least train her, so long as she still holds Akule's Eagle Mask. Millia reluctantly and begrudgingly accepts the offer.
At The Holy Land of Shamans, Shamala has Demote agree to train Millia, who then hand her over to Lelach after she passes the rite of initiation. The insane shaman states that their mentor was wrong and the charm did not require a Black-Tailed Mongoose's White Tail, but their Big Beautiful Black Tail. Shamala then helps the Milletian acquire that ingredient helps fend off the Cessairs as Millia creates the charm. After the charm is completed, Shamala then temporarily decides to remain in the shaman land for safety, but assures she will catch up with the Milletian and Millia later.
Shamala and Lelach defend The Holy Land of Shamans from Bhafel, but are seemingly cornered by the Korsek Raptors.
During the fight with Bhafel, Lelach reveals to have been Akule all along, though Shamala knew this from the very beginning. Akule then binds Bhafel and orders Shamala to destroy all the Guardian Pillars in the area, which will seal the Black Dragon in The Holy Land of Shamans. Shamala successfully breaks all the pillars, causing Bhafel to fade and disappear, but before completely vanishing it roars in anger and swears to return.
In the drama commentary, Shamala admits that her growling is a habit, as she was raised by Black Leopards. She also admits that it is difficult to understand the human language, and some do not like her for that reason.
Shamala quietly observes Akule and the Milletian as they discuss the current events.
Shamala assists Akule in gathering ingredients needed to create a spell to locate Millia. While doing so, she laments over the past, wondering if leaving her family to help the humans was the right thing for her to do. She also feels something odd about the Black Dragon Knight, Ruairi.
After discovering that the base of operations of the Cessair organization is located in Renes, Shamala is instructed to scout. She transforms into a Dungeon Rat and eavesdrops on the Cessair members, but Ruairi senses her presence, forcing her to flee.
Taking the form of a Rat, Wasp, Turtle, and Black Panther, Shamala eventually manages to escape from the Cessair in Renes. Ruairi orders them to let her go.
Returning to Akule, the Milletian, Odran, Dowra, Maike, and their forces, Shamala reveals that the true plans of the Cessair are to use Millia as a sacrifice.
After successfully infiltrating Renes yet again, Shamala uses a spell to heal the Milletian after being injured by Ruairi's attack.
After the Milletian fails to destroy Lia Fail due to an erected barrier and Macha appears, Ruairi requests her to heal him so he could destroy the barrier. Shamala kisses him and Ruairi gets back on his feet and fractures the barrier. However, Macha uses her magic to push Ruairi off a ledge and into the lava, causing Shamala to jump in after him.
After the event, Shamala refuses to talk about Ruairi's condition before her and the Milletian part ways.
