Partners

From Mabinogi World Wiki
(Redirected from Partner)
For a list of Partners, see Partners List.
A Butler and a Maid as they appear in-game.
A Commerce Partner as it appears in-game.

Partners are a special type of pet that have some similar attributes to a NPC. Partner creation cards are sold in the Web Shop, but are rarely available via time limited Shop sales.

Partner Creation

Partner Creation is similar to Character Creation; it allows players to name and choose the hair, eye, face, and mouth of their partner as well as permanently decide their height, weight, lower body muscles, and upper body muscles. Names are still restricted by availability and currently cannot be changed. Partners can access a Dressing Room similar to the player's by being right-clicked on for the "Change Partner Appearance" option.

Gender and race are fixed to the type of partner. Currently, the only partner race is Human (partners currently summoned by Giant will be slightly taller).

Additionally, the Maid and Butler have three personalities to chose from. This will determine their pose, attitude, NPC music, and likability mechanic.

Partner Likability and Stress

Partners have 2 extra stats along with the usual ones. These stats can be viewed by selecting the "Additional Info" tab upon right clicking the partner and selecting "View Status." These stats affect the actions that can be performed with the partner.

  • Likability, also known as Favor, is the affection level between the partner and master, how much he/she likes the master (Max. 247 Min. -247). Higher likability increases success rate on repairs, alters their poses and entrances, gathers an additional item, allows the master to receive gifts from the partner, perform more "actions" with them, and provides the option to marry them. On a technical level, likability starts at 120, but is reduced to zero upon first conversation.
  • Stress shows how stressed the partner is (Max. 255 Min. 0).
    • High stress can reduce Likability.
    • Stress reduction cannot decrease past 0. Anything that reduces your partner's stress will only reduce if the stress is equal to or greater than the amount it would reduce. (i.e. "-50 Stress" will only reduce the stress by 50 if the stress is equal to or greater than 50).
  • Likability and Stress will vary from character to character.
    • The partner keeps track of individual Likability and Stress for each character on the same account.

Partner Features

Mounts

Example of a Partner's Long Boat

Partners have purchasable carriage, broom, and boat mounts that both the player and the partner can ride in while the latter is summoned. The mounts were purchasable in the Web Shop for a limited time. All mounts may be given to one partner or split between two partners.

The type of mount that is used can be chosen by right-clicking on the Partner and selecting "Ride Wagon", "Ride Broom", or "?". Unlike traditional mounts, the mount starts at the player character, allowing the master to board the mount no matter the distance between the master and the Partner. Attempting to "mount" the Partner with hotkeys will automatically summon the last mount chosen.

You may not enter a closed Dungeon or Shadow Mission area while mounted; unlike pets, you are forced off your mount and do not enter the room.

Skills

  • Starting at 80 Likability, partners are able to gather materials as the master gathers, allowing double the output from a single source (e.g. 10 herbs will be gathered from a normally 5-herb pile, 5 from the player and 5 from the partner).
    • The Commerce Partner does not begin gathering until 241 Likability.
    • The effect does not occur with sieving, bottling, gathering specimens in Shyllien, or gathering ores in Hillwen.
    • If a Lucky Gather occurs, instead of quadrupling, only the player's gathering is doubled (e.g. a normal Lucky Gather results 3 items, 2 from the player and 1 from the partner).
    • Past 241 Likability, the gathering of a third material not caused by a Lucky Gather or Gathering Skills randomly occurs.
    • Gathering while the partner is watching over a Personal Shop will forcibly close it if the owner is too far, since the action will cause them to teleport regardless of their current action.
  • Partners have unique skills in their skill list:

Chat

Partners can be spoken with similar to an NPC. Upon speaking with them, several choices listing their various services are displayed. The first option on the list engages them in the standard Keyword-based conversation, with the dialogue for the Private Story Keyword changing after reaching certain thresholds of disposition. Every keyword will end the conversation and exit Chat Mode after they speak.

Laighlinne provides their master the Laighlinne's Transformation Keyword if spoken with the Private Story Keyword at 184(?) disposition.

Partners will not interact with other players; only their masters.

Cooking

Partners can cook meals for their master once per real-time day. This is done by selecting "Order a Dish" in Chat Mode. Players must still provide the ingredients and ratios, and the ingredient bar's stability is determined by the master's Dexterity. Maids and Butlers have Rank 1 Cooking, enabling them to cook any dish available in the game. Commerce Partner and William only have Rank A, and Laighlinne Partners can not cook.

Item Repair

Players can request for their Partners to repair equipment, paying them to do so like regular NPCs, however there are no discounts. This is done by selecting "Repair" in Chat Mode. Success rate increases with higher Likability. Beware that repair rates scale with the repair cost formula and therefore increases the repair price.

Gifts

  • Gifts can be given to Partners 5 times every real-time day by selecting the "Gift" and "Give a Present" options.
    • Despite the dialog stating that you can only give a gift once per in-game day, it is possible to give all five gifts in one in-game day, and to request a gift.
    • The types of items allowed to be given are limited to equipment they are capable of wearing and food.
  • Gifted equipment will be wearable by the partner.
    • Once given an equipable item, it becomes Personalized for the Partner and can only be held by them; this is also true for the clothing they come with upon creation.
      • In order to depersonalize the item, a Partner Trade Unlock Potion must be used on the item. De-personalizing the item also removes it from their inventory.
      • The only other way to get rid of Partner-only items is to have them destroyed. This is done by right-clicking the item and selecting "Destroy".
    • Equipment wearable by partners are restricted by race and gender. Since all partners are human, they may only wear equipment available to humans.
      • Similar to how they work for players, the hood of a Robe or Helmet will be determined by the last state (up or down) that it was in.
        • Note: Partners cannot change this once equipped. Double check to make sure the item is in the state (hood/visor up or down) you want before gifting it to a partner.
    • Any Partner-only item is equipped or unequipped when clicked on.
    • If the partner doesn't have the inventory space to put the equipment, it will refuse the gift.
    • Partners are unable to wear and/or receive the following:
    • While they can be gifted Bows, Crossbows, and Dual Guns, partners cannot attack with them as they lack the necessary skills that allow normal attacks with them.
    • They can Dual Wield One-Handed Swords; both swords must be given to the "Right Hand" option, rather than one on the right and one on the left.
  • Stacked foods will result in the entire stack being given.
    • The food will not increase fullness.
    • Fish that can be fed to Seal pets can be given as food.
  • Partners themselves can also give their master an item once every day real-time. This is done by selecting "Gift" and "Request a Present" when their likability level is above 70 (50+ with Clumsy Maid).
    • The master can reply "I like it," "No thanks," or "I hate it!" when they receive it, which may affect the Partner's Likability and Stress. If "No thanks" is chosen, a second Gift Box may be given. If "I hate it!" is chosen, there is a 50% chance to receive a Special Gift Box.
  • When they are above 180 likability, they may randomly give a surprise gift box once every day real-time when spoken to. This is separate from requested gifts. The surprise gift has a small chance of being a Special Gift. Simply starting a conversion and ending it repeatedly can be used to achieve this gift every day.

Shop

Partners have their own shop that sells items to their master. This is accessed by selecting "Trade" in Chat Mode. The items sold at the Partner's shops are not free, but like any other NPC shops, the 5% discount to all the stores applies on Alban Heruin (Wednesday).

Shop content is listed on the Partner Type's individual page.

Quests

  • Partners can provide random daily quests to their master, rewarding likability and combat experience. The player may receive quests by selecting "Grant Favor" in Chat Mode.
  • Each player character on an account may start one quest for one type of Partner a day (e.g. it is not possible to clear a daily quest for two Maids, but it is possible for a Maid and a Butler).
  • De-summoning the partner will automatically remove the quest from the player's quest log, regardless of whether it has been completed or not.
    • The player must manually complete the quest.
    • The player will not be able to receive another quest until after 11:00pm PST100.
      • If the length of time completing the quest spans past the reset time, the quest will be counted for both days.
  • Partner quests can be divided into several types:
    • Cooking Quests: The player must create a dish via Cooking skill. The partner can prepare base dishes/ingredients (ex. Steamed Potato in Tomato Basil Salad), but the player must make the main dish themselves.
    • Dungeon Quests: The player must complete a dungeon and then exit using the dungeon statue. A dungeon pass is not provided to the player.
    • Shadow Mission Quests: The player must complete a Shadow Mission. The difficulty does not matter. You must be the leader of the Shadow Mission in order to qualify. Passes for Secret Shadow Missions are not provided. If your Partner's Shadow Mission quest is identical to the current Daily AP Shadow Mission Quest, completing the Shadow Mission will only count for the Partner's quest.
    • Hunting Quests: The player must defeat a certain number of field monsters. Some quests that list the base/generic type of monster to hunt (e.g. Skeletons, Zombies, etc.) allow the player to hunt for several varieties of that monster type, and not just the specific one that is listed (e.g. Zombie Soldier will count for Zombie), unless stated otherwise.
    • Gathering Quests: The player must gather a certain amount of items, then talk to the Partner with the item. The partner may then request either the same amount or more of the same item. Taking the items from other players will not count toward the completion of the objective; although the delivery objective allows the player to gather items before the quest, even from other players. You are not obligated to gather these items, they must simply be delivered.

Salary

All Partners except Commerce Partner can be paid a salary on Samhain (Saturday). This is done by selecting "Pay Salary" in Chat Mode. Players must already have enough gold in their inventory to properly pay them. Payment cannot be taken directly from the bank.

Their wage are of three values: 50,000 ("Pay Bonus"), 30,000 ("Pay Base Salary"), or 20,000 ("Underpay") gold. Paying the Partner lowers their stress and increases their likability, depending on the type of payment. Paying a salary is not necessary; neglecting to pay yields no consequences.

Partner Actions

Various actions (not to be confused with player Actions) may be performed together with the master using the "Actions" selection in Chat Mode.

General Actions

Commerce Partners need an extra 100 disposition for each of the actions, while Laighlinne Partners need an extra 50 disposition. For example, Pose needs 181 disposition for a Commerce Partner and 131 for a Laighlinne Partner, not 81.

  • Salute = 0 Likability
  • Sit Down and Play = 2 Likability
  • Dance = 21 Likability
  • Cheer = 41 Likability
  • Pray = 61 Likability
  • Pose = 81 Likability
  • Laugh with Me = 101 Likability
  • Copy Nao = 121 Likability

Partner Laighlinne-Exclusive Actions

Along with the above partner actions, the Laighlinne Partner has access to additional, unique actions.

  • Stretch = 181 Likability
  • Link Arms = 191 Likability
  • Act Cute = 201 Likability
  • Kiss = 211 Likability

Homestead Partner Motion

  • Partners can be placed as decorations on Homesteads using Partner Placement Mode.
    • Static Placement allows for Partners to use Partner Motions and Gestures. For more information, see Partner/Homestead Partner Motion.
    • Interactive Placement allows the player to place their Partner on Homestead props, such as seats.
    • Note: Partners need to be removed from the Homestead before they can be interacted with again.

Miscellaneous Features

  • Partner mounts can be used within a homestead, however it is not possible to enter one while mounted. It is also possible to "transport" other players from their location to the user's by having them mount a Partner's Noble Carriage and then exiting the homestead.
  • Partners often speak at random, performing a standing action while doing so.
    • What they say is based on their stress and/or likability level.
    • The standing action occurs regardless of whatever they are doing (e.g. using a skill), but will still be registered by monsters and that partner as continuing what they are originally doing.
  • Partners can wear equipment.
  • An option to "Propose" in the Chat Mode menu appears when Disposition is over 240.
    • The partner will reject the proposal.
    • The option still exists if the player is already married.
    • The option will only appear to members of the opposite sex, despite this not being a requirement of the actual Marriage system.
  • Commerce Partner and William may accompany the player during Commerce if they are summoned beforehand.
    • Commerce Partner increases the player's Trading Inventory by 1 and maximum Weight Capacity by 100.
    • William increases the player's Trading Inventory by 1 and maximum Weight Capacity by 200.
  • William increases Ducat profits when trading by 0~3% (rate depends on Likeability):
    • 000 ~ 079: 0%
    • 080 ~ 129: 1%
    • 130 ~ 239: 2%
    • 240 ~ 247: 3%
    • William must be summoned when completing Commerce for the bonus to be applied.
    • Stacks additively with Commerce Mastery, Letters of Guarantee, and Event bonuses.
  • Laighlinne has two different NPC portraits when spoken to. Her Meryl portrait is used by default, although certain keywords switches to the Laighlinne portrait.

Miscellaneous Limitations

  • Partners cannot be affected by Divine Link, because they are not pets.
  • Partners cannot be summoned in tandem with a Pet or another Partner.
  • They do not age every Samhain (Saturday) nor do they grow taller.
  • They do not gain stats upon leveling up.
  • They do not gain or lose weight, regardless of food given.
  • Players are unable to log-in as Partners and control them directly.
