Golem (Family)

Basic Information

• Golems are artificially created monsters composed of rocks and boulders and then given life through magic or alchemy.
• Golems possess Windmill and Stomp and can inflict high damage. Knocking it down will usually provoke it to use Windmill/Stomp.
• When someone comes into visual range of a golem, they will use Rest and lie on the floor, cleverly disguising themselves as mere piles of rocks.
• All golems have very fast Movement Speed and are very difficult to outrun.
• All golems, except for Tabhartas and the Small Golem, have level 2 Mana Deflector and Natural Shield.
• All golems have a very large aggro radius (roughly 1/4th of a dungeon boss room or a full normal room), and may aggro if the player tries to run past them without a mount.
• When defeated, the player earns "the Golem Slayer" title. If defeated in one hit, "the Golem Slayer with a Single Blow" title is earned.
• Golems may sometimes try to Smash, only to stop in front of its target and execute Stomp instead.
• Golems have no significant weakness. Smashmill, Fire Counter or Fire Wall are typical strategies used against Golems.
  • A problem with Fire Counter is that when the Golem gets knocked back, you may still be in Stomp range or you may run out of retreat space to escape the Stomp.
  • A problem with Fire Wall is that Firebolt is usually weak against certain Golems due to their Mana Deflector.

Notes & Advice Notes Generation 2: Paladin (Spoilers) This part of the current article contains spoilers. According to Seumas, these Fire Golems were originally controlled by the Partholons and were used to combat the Fomors in the battle of Sen Mag. However, the mana infused in their bodies were eventually very difficult to remove, and as a result the golems spun out of control and wreaked havoc on the mainland. Instead of eliminating their creations, the golems were teleported to the remote Ceo Island and sealed there. In present day, however, the Fire Golems were reawakened. Seumas theorizes that their reawakening is caused by a dangerous existence or a practice for creating something else. It is later revealed that Esras used a Fire Golem body in her plan to create Tabhartas. Usually spawns in groups of 3~8. Stomps excessively if opponent is using Counterattack. Its Smash can deal a critical hit of over 700 damage. It comes in three colors: dark red, bright red, and maroon. With low damage, Windmilling huge mobs may be suicidal and will most often lead to death. Advice If you are close to the golem, you can load Counterattack, cancel it, and normal attack it.

Notes & Advice Notes It is possible to Mine the sulfur golem for Sulfur Ore and Fossils; Fossils are produced more often than by Mining regular Sulfur Deposits. They produce four items before being exhausted. Ancient-titled Sulfur Golems have more Mana and can provide twice as many items before being exhausted. Golems cannot be attacked while they are using Rest. You must provoke them before you can start attacking them. Golems seen from afar can be targeted, allowing you to attack them even if they are using Rest. You cannot Mine a dead Golem. Advice Mining the Golem decreases its Protection. Once you have removed all of its collectibles, its Protection will be decreased to its minimum value, which seems to be 10%. An Elf can safely use Hide after each attempt at Mining to prevent getting hit. You can have a flying Pet out, mount it, and take off after each Mining attempt, nullifying any aggro you picked up. This is a dangerous method if you aren't quick enough to fly off if any of the golems in the vicinity notices you. You may also prematurely aggro a Golem by using Windmill and trap it by a rock to Mine it. They may occasionally Stomp through small rocks. You can summon a Pet mount, prematurely aggro the golem using Windmill, mount the Pet and place the Pet behind a big rock; demount and you may Mine the Golem. Be cautious as the Golem can switch aggro to you.

Notes & Advice Notes AI similiar to Rat Men. Moves much faster in comparison to other Golems, it can easily outrun the radius of Kunai Storm at rank 1 without reforges. It has a relatively small hitbox for its size. In Ciar Advanced for Two, it will summon Poison Skeleton Soldiers. Ciar Advanced (Unlimited), it will summon either Metal Skeletons (Light Armor) or Bard Skeletons. This version of the golem can also use Teleport. After being attacked in any way, it will teleport. The exception is Windmill, in which case it will retreat and use Defense or Windmill. After hitting twice with a normal attack, it will likely load a skill rather than attack a third time. He has level 2 Passive defenses on Intermediate(?)/Advanced, and Level 3 Passive Defenses on Hard/Heroic, only to be changed by Night Change. On Advanced/Hard/Heroic, his passive defenses will have been set in place before his plume changes color. Has a Unique version of Night Change, which dictates not only its Passive Defenses, but also what type of skills it uses. Grey (All), Green (Archery), Red (Melee), and Blue (Magic). Its Night Change state also dictates its AI, Grey only means it has not picked a state yet for its AI, but has all Defenses enabled, Green causes its AI to become similar to most Archers, passive and attempting to constantly pelt arrows, however it will not use defense, and it rarely will only walk. Red will make it hyper aggressive, extremely quick to react to any attack ranged or otherwise, and it has a tendency to attempt to use Smash. Magic will cause it to strafe and use its varied magic, very similar to Ghosts. It can use any of the skills outside of its three major areas with impunity, but it cannot inter-use its skills. Teleports only when knocked down, and often teleports half the map away. Sometimes, it'll run back from where it teleports depending on if you had hit it during its teleport prompt, often with intent to retaliate. Advice Take advantage of its weaker AI in ranged/magic, it will have a higher tendency to summon monsters, but it wont react as well as melee. Occasionally, his AI will bug and he won't switch. This causes it to be impossible to deal any damage to him on Hard/Heroic aside from using shock damage from Mirage Missile, the drain portion of Life Drain, Devil's Cry, Hydra Transmutation, Wings of Rage after effects, and the sustained damage from Dischord, or Shadow Spirit. Seldom, he will switch to another skillset, but his helmet's plume will not change color. Avoid knocking him down if at all possible, or keeping him stunned fully, as he will summon monsters and teleport if he has the chance, but knocking him back will not trigger teleporting. Recommended to use Final Hit if he's Melee-only, Way of the Gun if he's ranged, and Firebolt spam if he is magic. Using Pummel to hold him in place is also advised. Occasionally, he will repeatedly spam Alban Golem Ambush. In higher difficulties, it is near impossible without a mounted pet or exceedingly high run speed to dodge it. Using an attack immediately upon him coming up is the easiest way, a quick Shuriken Charge will also work. Bash will almost always cause him to use Rage Impact without cooldown, making the skill extremely difficult to use.

Notes & Advice Notes Spoiler Summoned by the necromancer Esras. She uses the Golem as a plot to make herself the "Goddess of Wisdom", and overpower many. However, her plan failed. Tabhartas was created by several materials: -A Sacrifice (Rian) for a mind. -A Ceo Island Golem for a body. -A massive sum of Gold for stabilization. -A Marionette's Potion for control (though not necessary a creation item. Instead, Esras used it to control Rian and offered him to the Golem, and therefore can control Tabhartas). After defeat, both Tabhartas and Rian disappeared after an unknown explosion. Besides the relation with Lia Fail as a the Guardian of Ancient Wisdom, Tabhartas does no longer appear in the rest of the Generations. The creature is described in the book Tabhartas: the Guardian of Ancient Wisdom. Despite being an original form of every Golems in Erinn, this one is merely a replica of original Tabhartas. Fights just like a Golem, with a bit more speed. It also has 100% wound rate. Has a very wide Stomp Range. Unlike other Golem, this type of Golem has it's own unique dark wave effect for Smash, walking/running, and stomp. Some people refer to this monster as the Molten Golem because of its fiery appearance. However, it does not possess the fire element. That's gold you're seeing, acquired from the beginning of G2 to stabilize its form, not magma. Unlike all the HS monsters, this one has its activation rate at 10%, no matter what. Info in parentheses apply to statistics after you acquire the transformation (the weakening is still in effect once you revert to normal). Sometimes attacks a player's pet if it has attacked Tabhartas and is resummoned multiple times. Advice SmashMill is an effective method to defeat Tabhartas if it is cornered. Because you're fighting Tabhartas alone, it is suggested that you must know how to fight Golems strategically. If you have any pets, its a good idea to use them to battle Tabhartas rather than yourself, so no risks are taken. Paladin Dogs are advised due to their increase in stats. The use of Mana Shield will prevent you from getting wounded.
