A Request

Can we meet briefly in Taillteann? I have a request.-Talvish

Talvish
You came quickly, (Character Name). Thank you. I called you here because I need your help.
As you know, the Alban Knights carry out a number of duties for the public good.
One of these duties is to investigate peculiar rumors.
We recently heard a rumor about a corpse that was brought back to life.
We thought it was just an ordinary zombie, but...
There was some sort of strange "golden aura" involved. We're not quite sure what that means...
Some of the Alban Knights have searched Taillteann Graveyard to investigate the rumor.
Unfortunately, it's gotten us nowhere.
The only witness we have from the village is too traumatized to speak.
In my experience, investigations require time and patience. If we continue searching, we might find something.
But all the Alban Knights are busy at the moment.
That's where you come in, (Character Name). You've worked with us before.
Obviously, we can't force you to help us, but I'd like to say one thing.
The Alban Knights sincerely trust you, (Character Name).

> Prompt: Accept (Enter Mission)

(You accept Talvish's request.)

Talvish
I knew you'd help us.
I often wonder if you were born with a good heart of if you're trying to cover up a dark past...
I'm only kidding!
The other knights will come to your aid as soon as they can.
The Alban Knights try to move in groups of three. We always have each other's backs.
I'll be taking my leave, then. I'm counting on you.

Shadow Mission: A request

(Head north, collecting clues as you go.)

(You don't see any corpses coming back to life or any golden aura.)

(Keep following the path to the north of the graveyard.)

(You defeat mutated animals along the path, until you reach the graveyard.)

(You discover a suspicious corpse.)

(There's definitely a golden aura floating over it, but it doesn't seem alive.)

(The prophets suddenly appear!)

Brilluen
Oh, it's you, (Character Name). What brings you to this dark and muggy place?

Pennar
Still working with the Alban Knights, are you?
They always manage to stay two steps behind.

Brilluen
Of COURSE they'd ask you to do their dirty work. And of COURSE you'd be stupid enough to agree!

Pennar
It's not surprising, really.
Even if you ARE a Milletian, you can't face us all by yourself. Those foolish knights have sent you to your doom!

Brilluen
I almost feel bad you had to go on this wild goose chase, (Character Name). ALMOST.
Tell your precious knights to come themselves if they're so interested in what we're doing.
We'd be MORE than happy to play with them.
As for you... Get lost! SCRAM!

Marcan
No! No let Milletian go! Milletian see corpse!

Brilluen
Pff. And? You'd better not be questioning my authority, you oaf.

Pennar
Relax, Brilluen. An opportunity like this doesn't come around often. I'd actually prefer fighting (Character Name) right now.

Marcan
We crush you, (Character Name).

Brilluen
Fine. Do whatever you want.

???
Talvish said this would happen.

Brilluen
Who's there...?!

(Altam and Avelin come up to you.)

Avelin
Looks like we made it just in time, (Character Name).

Altam
(Character Name)! Are you okay?!
We tried to come sooner, but I messed things up. We ran into--

Avelin
Not the time, Altam.

Altam
Y-yes, ma'am! Sorry, ma'am!

Brilluen
Hmph.
Looks like you missed your chance to fight (Character Name), Pennar.

Pennar
It looks that way. What a shame.

Marcan
...

Brilluen
Then let's take our leave. Until next time, fools!

Avelin
!!

(The prophets disappear, taking the suspicious corpse with them.)

(MISSION END)

Altam
I...
...
I missed you SO much, (Character Name)!
I really, really, REALLY wanted to see you!
But you know how Avelin can be. She wouldn't let me see you!
Oh, well! We're together now! It's like a dream come true!
And we're going to be on a mission together! We can stay up allllll night if we want!

Avelin
Altam...

Altam
Mmhmmm?

Avelin
You and (Character Name) can talk as much as you want, but don't forget. We're on a mission.
The body that was with the Prophets must be the one we were looking for.

Altam
You're right! Duty comes first!
We need to find out what the Prophets are up to.
Whatever it is, we'll stop them!
Can you help us, (Character Name)?

> Prompt: Accept

(You choose to help the Alban Knights with their mission.)

Altam
Oh, thank you, (Character Name)!
To be honest, I was afraid you'd say no.
We may not have been toghether last time...
But nothing will tear us apart this time!
When I heard we were going to ask you for help, I made sure to bring along a blank journal.
I'm going to keep a record of everything you do. Absolutely EVERYTHING.
That way, if I go a long time without seeing you again, I'll at least be able to read about our fun times together!
Let me know if you ever want to read it! I'm going to make you sound so COOL.

Avelin
...

Altam
Oh, uh, Avelin's going to tell us what to do next.
But if you have any questions about other stuff...
You can always ask me!

(Two Topics have been added to the list.)

Avelin
I'd love to sit around and catch up, but we don't have time for that.
The Prophets are constantly on the move.
Since they need an abundant supply of corpses...
We can make educated guesses about where they'll head next.
The graveyards in Uladh would probably be a good place to look.
They were already here in Taillteann Graveyard, so it would make sense for them to try other graveyards in Tir Chonaill or Belvast.
Come on. Let's try the graveyard in Tir Chonaill first.

Graveyard Night

The Prophets will most likely appear in graveyards throughout Uladh. Search the graveyard in Tir Chonaill first. -Avelin

(You rendezvous with the knights.)

Avelin
We searched the area inside out, but we still came up dry.
Let's stay in Tir Chonaill until nightfall. Tomorrow, we'll make our way to Belvast.
If something turns up tonight, then we'll stay and investigate.
... Will you help keep lookout until it gets dark?

> Prompt: Stick around (Enter Mission)

(You decide to stay until it gets dark.)

Shadow Mission: Graveyard Night

Avelin
Wait... I sense something.
It's coming from the center of the graveyard...
It feels a lot like what I sensed from that body in Taillteann.
We should proceed with caution.

(You, Avelin and Altam head further into the graveyard.)

(Strange zombies appear.)

Altam
Oh, man! I've seen zombies before... They always freak me out!

Avelin
They look like normal zombies on the outside...
But do you see those little bits of minerals on them? Those are traces of the Prophets's Unholy Light.
Given what we saw in Taillteann Graveyard, it's likely that the Prophets used their Unholy Light to revive the corpses.

Altam
Unholy Light? Is that, like, the opposite of our Divine Light?

Avelin
Most likely, but we don't know enough about it.
All we know for sure is that these are no ordinary zombies.
These zombies want us dead at all costs...
And it's happening against their will.

Altam
Th-that means...

Avelin
Yes...
Sadly, they've become nothing but puppets. Tools of the Prophets. It's a shame that they continue to suffer after death...
But there's no room for sympathy. We must eliminate them.

(You dispatch the reanimated corpses.)

(More reanimated corpses appear, surrounding you!)

Altam
There are too many of them! This has to be some kind of trap!

Avelin
Stay calm. You're right, through. The Prophets must've already known we'd come here.
But if they really wanted to stop us, they would've set better traps.
This seems like Brilluen's work...
She must be trying to humiliate us, but she's failing miserably.
She IS insane, after all...
Anyway, let's get moving.
The enemy's formation doesn't look too strong. They'll fall apart the moment we try to break through.

(You dispatch the corpses once more.)

Avelin
I can't sense the Unholy Light anymore. I think we're in the clear.
I managed to snag some minerals from the corpses during the fight.
Maybe we can find some clues by studying them.

(MISSION END)

(Topics added when talking with Altam: Divine Light)

Avelin
I'll submit a report of what we just saw. You should rest in the meantime.
Stay in Tir Chonaill for now. I won't be long.

(Avelin leaves.)

Flowing Through Time

It's boring just sitting around, doing nothing. I need to find something to do! -Altam

Altam
(Character Name)!
What should we do with our downtime?

> Prompt: Talk to Altam

(You say you<ll relax and chat with Altam.)

Altam
That sounds like fun!
You just sit back and relax!
How aboout I tell you a funny story?
Except...
I don't know any funny stories.
We Alban Knights are anything but funny...
We try our best to discipline ourselves. We never give in to temptation!
But if YOU have any stories, I'd love to hear them!
Happy stories, sad stories, scary stories... Whatever you got, I want to hear it!

> Prompt: Go for a walk.

(You say you'll go for a walk around Tir Chonaill alone.)

Altam
Um...
Okay. I'll leave you alone, then.
Just holler if you need me!

Shadow Mission: Flowing through time 1

(You go to the river. There, you spot a shiny object that catches your attention floating down with the stream, until it gets stuck in some grass.)

(That shiny object must've floated downstream.)

(It's beautiful...)

(You go in the river and pick up the object.)

(It's a necklace!)

(...)

(You've never seen it before, but it gives you a strange sensation.)

(MISSION END)

(...)

Altam
(Character Name)!

(...)

Altam
(Character Name)! Are you okay?
You're all wet! Why the heck did you go into the stream?
I called out to you a million times, but you completely ignored me!
Anyway!
You'll get sick if you stay in those wet clothes!
Let me bring you some dry clothes. Why don't you get undressed...?

(You sit by the campfire.)

Altam
What's up, (Character Name)?

(You can't stop thinking about the necklace.)

(You examine every inch of the necklace.)

(You've never seen or worn anything like this.)

(...)

(The more you stare at the necklace, the hazier your vision gets.)

(...)

(And...)

(You see a familiar place...)

(There are still many questions to be answered.)

Shadow Mission : Flowing through time 2

(You observe what appears to be a gathering of knights, somewhere in iria. They are facing robed people.)

Elved
Sir...

The Elder
...

Elved
Sir...?

The Elder
...
Forgive me. Now, where were we?

Elved
We were waiting for your orders on what to do with the Heretics.
We thought about forcing them to surrender...
But as you can see, that doesn't seem likely.

The Elder
It appears we've once again failed to find their base of operations...
...Very well. Kill them all.

Elved
Yes, sir!

Heretic 1
You are unwise to come here! Do you not dread the end of days?

Heretic 2
By Ladeca's grace, we fear no man!

The Elder
... You, who have committed countless sins against humanity... You, who have murdered the righteous and sacrificed the innocent...

(You finally take in the appearance of the Elder and what exactly he is wearing.)

(That man is wearing the necklace!)

The Elder
In the name of Aton Cimeni, you shall face divine wrath!

Heretic 1
Your god is pathetic! Mother Ladeca is the true ruler of this world!
Oh, Ladeca... Grant us your power!

Heretic 2
Oh, Ladeca... Grant us your power!

(...)

Heretic 1
I've been blessed with Ladeca's grace!

Heretic 2
Thank you, Mother Ladeca!

(The two heretics scream as their bodies disappear in smoke, only leaving their clothes behind.)

Heretics
HYAH!

(Phantoms rise from the heretics's remains.)

Elved
Sir...!

The Elder
What a shame...
But it is the will of the heavens.

(The Elder, along with the Elved general and two knights proceed to kill the heretics.)

(...)

(This must be the Elder's memory.)

(The visual information breaks off.)

(MISSION END)

(It looks like the memory faded away. Focus on the necklace again.)

(...)

(It doesn't work. You're exhausted from trying.)

(You have to spend a lot of energy to use the necklace.)

(Altam might know something. Try asking him.)

(Topic added when talking with Altam: Elder)

(You ask about the Commander.)

Altam
Ah, uh, the Elder?
Well, he's...
He's...
...
Sorry, (Character Name)!
I just don't know anything about him!
Try asking the generals about him!
Just don't ask Avelin. I asked her about him once, and she was NOT happy about it!
I doubt anyone will give you a straight answer.
Sorry if that wasn't very helpful...

(Avelin comes back.)

Grave Keeper

There's a rumor in Iria that a dead body was reborn. Head to Iria and track down the Prophets. -Avelin

Avelin
Did you rest up?
I know this is sudden, but we need to go to Iria right away.
Another case of this "golden aura" popped up near Qilla Base Camp.
We'll leave Tir Chonaill as soon as everyone's ready.

> Prompt: Ask about the Commander or Ask nothing.

(You meet up with Avelin and Altam at Qilla Camp.)

Avelin
This is definitely the place. I can still sense traces of the Prophets.
I hate that we're always playing catch-up with them.
If only we knew where they were planning to go next, we could set a trap for them...
But no. They're always one step ahead.
...How is that possible?!
They make fools out of us whenever we see them!
Always acting like they have it all together...
And that Brilluen is the WORST.
But if they're as powerful as they are cocky, then we really need to watch ourselves.
Anyway...
Qilla Base Camp seems secure.
(Character Name), stand guard with Altam while I investigate here a bit longer.
We have to figure out why the Prophets are moving into Iria.

> Prompt: Help Avelin

(You stand guard with Altam.)

Shadow Mission: Grave Keeper 1

(Reanimated corpses appear.)

Altam
Avelin!

Avelin
This is obviously Brilluen's doing. She must be pleased with herself.

Altam
There aren't even graveyards around here! Where did these corpses come from?

Avelin
Don't get so worked up, Altam.
These corpses likely came from Iria, but it's hard to say whether they're humans or something else.

Altam
Wh-what if the Prophets didn't dig these bodies up from a graveyard? What if they're killing people and turning them into these... things?

Avelin
That's a possibility...
Pennar the Wolfman, Brilluen the Succubus, and Marcan the Ogre...
They call themselves the "Prophets", but they're nothing but unruly Fomors.
Regardless, these things have no other purpose but to eliminate us.
It's us or them...
They're different than the ones we encountered in Uladh, so be careful!

(You fend off the corpses.)

(MISSION END)

Altam
I think that's it!

> Prompt: Take a break

(You decide to take a break.)

Shadow Mission: Gravekeeper 2

Avelin
They weren't that tough.

(Altam turns around and looks at Avelin, starry-eyed.)

Altam
Yeah! And it's all thanks to (Character Name)!

Avelin
...
We'll continue with the investigation. You stand guard.
I don't sense anything dangerous right now. Altam, (Character Name). Take turns standing watch.

(A tremor resonates in the area.)

Avelin Both of you! Step aside!

(A Giant monster appears!)

Avelin
What the...?! I sense the power of an Apostle, but it's unlike anything we've seen yet!
I couldn't even sense it until it appeared!
...
We'll give this thing the same treatment we've given to the other Apostles!
Both of you, stay in formation!

Avelin
(Character Name), prepare the defenses!
Altam, prepare for binding!

(The creature attacks, breaking through your shield of trust.)

Avelin
Altam! Now!

(Altam binds the creature, followed quickly enough by Avelin's Judgment blade. The Apostle seems unfazed.)

Avelin
Unbelievable...!
...
If we give up now, everyone at Qilla Base Camp will be in serioous danger.
We need to lure it away.

(You retreat quickly in the corn fields to make up a plan.)

Avelin
Let's start wrangling it up. Qilla Base Camp is to the east, so we're going to push this thing to the west.

(Avelin and Altam go their separate ways.)

Altam
What the...?
It feels like there's an invisible wall in my way! I can't move forward!
And I'm blocked over here, too!
We better check every side!

(You go check on Avelin.)

Avelin
There's some kind of barrier in our way.
That creature might be responsible for this. The one that might be an Apostle...
Either way, that barrier isn't coming down. Even my Divine Light isn't making a dent.

(You all go back to the corn field.)

Avelin
Looks like we have to figure this out as we go along...

(You hold out for a moment, your attacks not even making a dent on the creature.)

Altam
What are we supposed to do?

Avelin
...

Altam
We can't escape. We can't even push the enemy back!

Avelin
Panicking won't get us anywhere, Altam.

(You and the knights do your best to hold.)

Avelin
Look! You can definitely bust through the part of the barrier behind the Apostle.
(Character Name).
I'll distract the Apostle while you escape with Altam.

Altam
What?! What are you saying?
You don't mean...
Avelin! There won't be a way for you to escape!

Avelin
That's a very mature way to think, Altam. It proves how much you've grown.
But sometimes thinking that way can put you in serious danger.
You have to learn when it's best to take care of yourself.

Altam
No! There HAS to be another way!

Avelin
Enough, Altam. The longer you stay here, the less time you'll have to escape.
You have to leave right now!

Altam
But Avelin...

Avelin
Are you defying my orders?

Altam
I'm not! I just think you're wrong!

Avelin
Altam!!

Altam
...

Avelin
(Character Name)...
...Keep Altam out of trouble.

(A bright light shines briefly, and the monster disappears.)

Altam
Hm?

Avelin
...?

(Talvish is seen nearby, facing Marcan.)

Talvish
Is everyone okay?

Avelin
Talvish?!

Altam
Talvish! And Avelin's okay, too!

Talvish
You probably figured this out by now, but that monster was an Apostle.
And as you also know, the Prophets control the Apostles.
Turns out Marcan was hiding behind that barrier the whole time, controlling the Apostle's every move.
It must require a great deal of concentration to do it.
Marcan here lost his focus when I attacked him. Isn't that right, Marcan?

Marcan
...

Talvish
I can't help but wonder why you came alone.
Did Pennar and Brilluen force you to do their bidding?

Marcan
...

Talvish
What's the matter? Do you need permission from your masters before you speak?

Marcan
Fools.

Talvish
Coward. You're spineless without your precious Apostles.
I'm offended by how much you underestimate us.

Altam
Yeah! You're pathetic!

(Marcan runs away.)

Talvish
He's quite the escape artist...

(MISSION END)

(Topic added when talking with Altam: Apostles)

Talvish
Is anyone hurt?

Altam
Talvish! You totally saved the day! This is why everyone says you're the strongest Alban Knight!

Talvish
Heh, you're embarrassing me, Altam.

Altam
I bet you would've messed that Apostle up!

Talvish
Well...
To be honest, it's not that easy.

Altam
But you've fought more Apostles than anyone!

Talvish
First of all, we don't know if that thing really was an Apostle or not.
We simply don't have enough information...
We learned that we can stop the Apostles by attacking the Prophets...
But the Prophets have to be nearby for that to work, and that's something we just can't predict.

Avelin
Our attacks were useless. Even our Crusader Skills did nothing...

Talvish
We've dealt with a lot lately...
This mysterious golden aura...
A creature that may be an Apostle...
And the Prophets are pulling all the strings somehow...
We have quite a bit on our plate.
We need to track down that monster, but we must also spread the word about what's been going on.

Avelin
What's all this "we" business? The Arthuan Unit doesn't need help from your unit, thank you very much.

Talvish
Most of the Elved Unit's business has been handled.
They should be fine without me.
Don't forget, Avelin. Even with (Character Name) on our side, this mission won't be an easy one.
Honestly, we had no idea what kind of a turn things would take...

Avelin
That doesn't matter! No matter what fate throws at us, we'll do our best with or without (Character Name)'s help.
It reflects poorly on the Alban Knights to keep relying on outsiders.

Talvish
You're not one to talk, Avelin. You relied on (Character Name) for plenty of help before, if I remember correctly.

Avelin
...
I-I don't know what you're talking about...

(Avelin seems flustered.)

Talvish
I'm sure you don't.

Avelin
Excuse me?!

Talvish
Nothing. Forget it.
This isn't the time to argue. We have a job to do.
I'll consult the Commander to ensure the Arthuan Unit has authorization to carry out the mission.
The Elved Unit should be fine with the orders I gave them.
And I'll be free to accompany you.

Avelin
I guess that's that, then.

(Topic added when speaking with Altam: Crusader Skills.)

Guardians

Things are getting serious. I'll join when everything seems favorable. -Talvish

Talvish
What is it, (Character Name)?

(You activate the necklace.)

(Images of the Elder flash through your mind.)

(You focus on the necklace with everything you have.)

(...)

(You slowly lose consciousness.)

Shadow Mission: Elder: Guardians 1

(The elder and the unit generals stand guard on a bridge assaulted by heretics.)

Heretic 1
We come in the name of salvation!
The end is upon us. It is our duty to rid the land of the depraved!

Heretic 2
Cleanse the wicked by delivering swift and holy death! Spare not a single unbeliever!
Destroy all you see!

Heretics
May Ladeca's grace shine upon you!

Heruin
The Heretics have returned...

Eiler
Their dogma is to spead "salvation" through violence and destruction.
They've wreaked havoc upon several villages already. We should've taken care of them sooner...

Elved
Easier said than done. Too many new Heretic groups have been appearing as of late.
Last time it was the Gairech Church. Before that, it was the Rock Rock Priests. And the World Congregation before that...
They're causing damage at a faster rate than we can repair.

Arthuan Then let's wipe them out with our Crusader Skills!
We're the Alban Knights! We must fight!

The Elder
...Yes.
We must bring light to that which casts darkness. It is the will of Aton Cimeni.

(The heretics swarm the bridge.)

The Elder
We are not destined to fall just yet... Move into defensive formations!
In the name of Avalon...
Protect the gate with your lives!
None may enter the holy land! Hold your ground!

(The elder does not allow a single Heretic to cross the bridge.)

(...)

(The memory ends here.)

(Like last time, you're completely exhausted.)

(Tell Avelin and Talvish everything you experienced.)

(MISSION END)

Avelin
...

Talvish ...

Avelin
What are you thinking, Talvish?

Talvish Hm...

Avelin
O-okay. Well, I'm sorry to ask this of you, but will you lend us the necklace, (Character Name)?

> Prompt: Reject Kindly or Reject Sharply

(Talvish looks incredibly pensive.)

Talvish
Enough, Avelin. Stop pressuring (Character Name).
To be honest, I'm quite curious about the necklace myself...
But (Character Name) is our respected ally.
Let's avoid situations that might drive a wedge between us.
Besides, we have no right to claim ownership over (Character Name)'s belongings, do we?
So let's do ouor best to be reasonable.

Avelin
...Forgive me. I was out of line.

Talvish
(Character Name), may we try using the necklace?

(You hand Avelin the necklace.)

Avelin
...

Talvish
Is it working?

Avelin
...
I don't feel anything.

Talvish
Let me try.

(You hand Talvish the necklace.)

Talvish
...
It doesn't work when we try to use it. It seems only you are able to use it, (Character Name).
It's strange, really. The necklace reveals memories of the Alban Knights, but none of us can use it...
Regardless, I must first consult the Commander.
I'll ask him what he thinks about the necklace.

> Prompt: Ask about the Commander or Do not ask

Talvish
Well, our commander is...

Avelin
...

(Avelin shoots Talvish a piercing look.)

Talvish
You must have a lot of questions, especially after what you've seen.
But I can't give you details about our Commander.
You know how confidential we are.
Having an outsider join the Alban Knights doesn't happen every day, either.
So just know this, (Character Name).
I have nothing but respect for you.

Altam
Wow, Talvish...

Talvish
But despite how much I respect and trust you, there are some things I can't reveal just yet.
And I hope that you, in turn, respect my decisions.
Please understand.

Altam
...

Talvish
Moving on, then.
You mentioned seeing an old fortress, right?
They were likely the ruins that once belong to the Alban Knights.
Avelin knows where it is, so we should all head there together.
Your Divine Light will protect you on the way.

Avelin
We don't have time for that! We have to find the Prophets!

Talvish
Relax, Avelin. Pennar and Brilluen are making their way to belvast as we speak.

Avelin
What? They are?

Talvish
Yes. I must consult the Commander now. I'll try to be back as soon as I can.

Avelin
All right, Talvish.

Talvish
Oh, (Character Name).
You said that you found the necklace completely by chance, did you not?
...
Perhaps chance had nothing to do with it...

(Talvish heads off.)

Avelin
He just left without hearing what I have to say! Ah... Oh, well.
Talvish may act selfishly, but he's always thinking about what's best for all of us.
Either way, he should've told us sooner that the Prophets were headed to Belvast.

Altam
I think Talvish gave us plenty of notice about the Prophets!

Avelin
Altam. Just be quiet.

Altam
S-sorry...

Avelin
Let's just wrap things up here and make our way to Belvast.
We need to get as much information as we can about everything that's happenned recently.

(You all head to Belvast, and travel through Scathach Beach. You discover a hidden path.)

(...?)

(An unfamiliar path leads north. It doesn't look too long.)

(Avelin and Altam look to you from a distance.)

(You ask Avelin aboout the path.)

Avelin

Altam
Avelin!

Avelin
I knew you could pull it off, even if you ARE different from us.

(...?)

(You have no idea what Avelin is talking about.)

Avelin
Allow me to fill you in on a few things.
You know those ruins Talvish mentioned before? That's what's on the other side of the path.
The reason no one knows about this path is because it's the only way to get to the ruins.
The Divine Light that flows through the path tricks anyone passing by into thinking nothing's there.
Most people never notice the path between the cliffs.
Occasionally, someone will venture down the path only to wind up back at the entrance.
This goes for the Prophets, too. They can't detect this place.
Even you've passed by and didn't notice the path.
But your Divine Light will guide you through the path without you getting lost.
So then, are you ready to go to the ruins?
They're not anything special... They're literally just ruins.
But since the Prophets weren't in Belvast, it might be worth the visit.

> Prompt: Enter the ruins

(Head to the ruins by following the path to the north.)

Shadow Mission: Guardians 2

(You follow Avelin and Altam.)

(You've arrived.)

(this is the same place you saw in the memory.)

Altam
This is the place you saw with the necklace, right? These are the Alban Knight's ruins.
That inner cliff is Avalon Gate.

Avelin
...

Altam
Y-you don't think the Prophets are here, do you? There's no way they could've made it through the path.

> Prompt: Describe the memory

(You describe what you saw in the memory.)

(Apparently these ruins DO receive frequent visitors...)

Altam
Huh? That doesn't sound right at all!

Avelin
Yeah, that does seem pretty strange. But we can't make assumptions just yet.

(You see a flash.)

Avelin
Wait a second...
It can't be...!

Altam
What is it?

Avelin
I sense traces of... Unholy Light...
But... that doesn't make sense! The Prophets CAN'T come here!

(Mutated animals appear. You defeat them on the path to the bridge.)

(Brilluen and Pennar stand close to the bridge.)

Brilluen
It's SO nice to see you, Avelin!

Avelin
How were you able to come here?!

Brilluen
HAH! You wouldn't believe me even if I told you!

Avelin
Oh, yeah? Then how about I hurt you until you tell me?

Brilluen
Oooh, I just LOVE threats! Especially violent ones!
Honestly, you try too hard, dear.
You'd be SO much happier if you just followed your heart instead of your precious rules.
But who are we kidding? In the end, you're just a PATHETIC human with no purpose.

Avelin
...
I'll make you eat those words...

Pennar
Brilluen!
That's enough. Let's go.

(You fight the two of them, but they run away.)

Altam
They got away...

Avelin
...

Altam
Avelin...

Avelin
*Sigh*
I'm a little confused right now, Altam. Let's just keep moving, okay?

(MISSION END)

(Topic added when speaking to Altam: Avalon Gate.)

Budding Beginning

The Prophets have infiltrated Avalon Gate. What I saw there... was just... -Avelin

(Avelin examines her surroundings.)

Avelin
What were the Prophets doing at Avalon Gate?
And how in the world did they get there?! They barely left any traces behind...

Altam
Everything's getting so crazy.
A monster we can't beat...
A necklace that sees the Elder's memories...
And now, the Prophets made it to Avalon Gate...
It's too much!

Avelin
We'll talk more when Talvish shows up. He should be here soon.
Things are a little out of control right now. There's no way the Arthuan Unit can handle this alone...

(As if on cue, Talvish comes by.)

(Altam fills Talvish in on what happenned.)

Talvish
...I see. The Prophets are making things quite complicated for us.
It's possible that they came here even before you encoountered them, Avelin.

Avelin
That's... unsettling.

Talvish
It certainly is. I'll report this to the Commander.
I brought up the joint operation with the Arthuan Unit to him.
He agrees that recent events have been quite serious.
He suggested that the other two generals jooin the Arthuan Unit as well.

Avelin
So the Eiler and Heruin Units are joining us, too? Don't they have their own missions to handle?

Talvish
Not their units. Only the generals.

Avelin
Doesn't that seem a little desperate?

Talvish
Well...
Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Avelin
That doesn't mean we should just act without thinking!

Talvish
Just listen, Avelin. We've already seen these monsters in several locations, including Qilla Base Camp and Iria.
We don't know for sure if they're Apostles or something else.
We do know that our Crusader Skills don't work on them...

Avelin
...

Talvish
Don't be discouraged. Remember our foes from before? We thought they were unbeatable at first, too.
But we eventually learned that linking all three skills was the solution.
Although much was sacrificed to accomplish this...

Altam ...

(Altam's face grows more solemn as he listens.)

Avelin
All right...
Enough with the depressing memories. I get why the generals are coming.

Talvish
Then let's head to the Emain Macha Assembly Area. Caswyn and Pihne should be there soon.

Avelin
We can't just leave! We need to station some knights here to protect the people!

Talvish
...The people of Baltane must take care of themselves.

Avelin
What are you saying...?

Talvish
I'm saying that we can't spare a single resource. We need our knights to watch over Avalon Gate.

Avelin
Damn it... If only we weren't so short-handed...

Talvish
We'll remedy this situation later. There's no point in worrying about it at the moment.
If you have no more questions, then I'll consult the Commander.

Altam
Sooo... what now? Are we splitting up or something?

Talvish
Hm.

(Talvish seems to have a lot on his mind.)

Talvish
We assign duties to the rest of the knights based on the capabilities of each. Unfortunately, only the generals can handle a mission this dangerous.

Altam
...

> Prompt: Keep quiet or Have Altam come

> Prompt: Have Altam Come

(You suggest that Altam tags along.)

Avelin
No.

Talvish
I know that you're quite fond of Altam, (Character Name). I am, too, but this mission is far too dangerous for him.

> Prompt: Forget it or Persuade Talvish

> Prompt: Persuade Talvish

(You attempt to persuade Talvish.)

Talvish
...
Well...
I know you'll keep an eye on Altam...
All right.
If you stay with us until we complete this mission...
Then Altam can come.

Altam
R-really?!

Talvish
Honestly, you might complicate things for us, Altam.
But with (Character Name) keeping an eye on you, we shouldn't worry.
After all, you ARE a Milletian.
Don't you agree, Avelin?

Avelin
Hmph...
I KNEW this would happen. I never should've let Altam and (Character Name) get so close.

Altam
...

(Altam looks really discouraged.)

Talvish
...We'll consider Avelin neutral on the matter.
Let's discuss this at greater length when we meet up with Caswyn and Pihne.
If you're all ready, then let's head to the Emain Macha Assembly Area.

(Topic added when speaking with altam: Four Units)

> Speak with Altam: Four Units

(You ask about the four units.)

Altam
The Alban Knights are broken up into four different units.
There's the Arthuan Unit, the Eiler Unit, the Heruin Unit, and the Elved Unit.
Each unit is made up of a general and two companion knights.
Avelin and I are part of the Arthuan Unit.
It's just the two of us right now, but we'll be getting a third soon!
Pihne is the general of the Eiler Unit.
She has the kindest heart of any of the Alban Knights!
Caswyn is the general of the Heruin Unit.
We've met before, but he didn't say much.
He was... um... hard to talk to.
Last is the Elved Unit. Their general is Talvish.
Talvish is so strong and awesome and nice... He's the greatest knight who ever lived!
I REALLY wanted to join the Elved Unit, but I'm just not good enough yet...

Avelin
Pihne should be here any minute...

> Prompt: Wait for Pihne

(You wait for Pihne with the group.)

Shadow Mission: Budding Beginning

(You wait next to the emblem in the assembly area with the knights.)

Pihne
Sorry to keep you waiting! Have you been here long?

(You see an armored knight approaching and waving at your party.)

Avelin
Pihne!

Pihne
Avelin! I missed you!

Avelin
You're looking healthy as usual, Pihne.

Pihne
Really? I've been overwhelmed by all these missions! I feel like I need ten people to help me! Oh, I also heard that the Prophets invaded Avalon Gate! At least that's what I heard. It's hard to believe, though. And there's an Apostle that's immune to Crusader Skills? That must've been tough for the Arthuan Unit.

Talvish
This is why all the generals have gathered here. And I also want you all to know that (Character Name) will be joining us this time.

(They all give you a look.)

Pihne
Oh! You must be... I'm sorry! I didn't even introduce myself! I'm Pihne, general of the Eiler Unit. Sorry if I seem a little nervous. This is my first time being close to you and everything.

Avelin
Pihne, please don't turn into another Altam. Altam is a little TOO fond of (Character Name)... He always runs off to (Character Name) without my permission!

Pihne
Oh, Altam! I'm sure that must be frustrating for you, Avelin. But don't be too hard on him!

Avelin
You don't even know the half of it...

(A corrupted zombie appears right behind Altam.)

Pihne
Altam!

(Pihne quickly dispatches the corpse with a magic spell.)

Pihne
Are you hurt, Altam?

Altam
Thank you, Pihne!

Talvish
There are no graveyards nearby. Where could it have come from? And that report from Iria is suspicious...
I thought we'd have time to relax, but I guess not.

(More zombies appear in the Assembly area.)

Pihne
There's a whole bunch of them now!
Maybe they followed me all the way here!

(You dispatch all the zombies.)

Pihne
It's not so bad when we all work together! You helped make that battle go really smoothly, (Character Name). Thank you so much!

Talvish
...Caswyn hasn't arrived yet.

Pihne
Hey, you're right! I wonder if everything's okay. Why don't we wait for him a little longer?

(MISSION END)

Eye of an Eagle Owl

Caswyn's late. Something must be up... -Pihne

Pihne
Caswyn's a little late...

Talvish
...

Avelin
...

Altam
...

Avelin
He's more than a little late.

> Prompt: ...

> On-screen Text: (It should've...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've...)

Pihne
...!

Avelin
Pihne?

Pihne
E-excuse me...

(Pihne leave the party for a moment, moving behind a tree nearby.)

(You go check on her.)

> On-screen Text: (It should've...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've...)

Pihne
...!
N-no...
Why... Why can I hear it again?

(Pihne is talking to herself. She seems distraught.)

Pihne
Why are the voices back? Why now?!

(She doesn't even notice that you're standing right by her.)

Pihne
I-I can't... I won't...

(She finally notices you.)

Pihne
...!
W-wait...
Y-you're...
...
Please promise me you won't say anything, (Character Name). We'll just keep this between you and me, okay?

(Pihne goes back to the others. You follow suit. Pihne is smiling just like moments before.)

Pihne
...

(What just happenned?)

(She suddenly seems completely fine.)

Talvish
Pihne, do you have any idea what's taking Caswyn so long?
You were both in the same unit, weren't you? You should know him better than any of us.

Pihne
Yeah, we were in the same unit for quite some time...
But we didn't have time to see each other as much when we became generals of our own units.

(Pihne is acting like her episode never happenned.)

(She's playing it off very nicely.)

Pihne
Those really were the good old days...
Caswyn would always go off somewhere all by himself whenever he had something important to think about.
He'd always go to the same place, and I was always the one who brought him back.

Avelin
So Caswyn thinks it's okay to be late just because he needs to think?

Pihne
Caswyn's never late! He's always so punctual.

Talvish
He is quite fastidious. The Heruin Unit undertakes their missions with extreme efficiency.
Caswyn is not the type to miss a single detail.

Pihne
That's Caswyn for you! He's always such a perfectionist.

Avelin
I hate to break it to you, but your perfectionist is not on time. And when you're not on time, you're late. Simple as that.

Pihne
I guess you're right...
But if Caswyn is late, he must have a very good reason!

Talvish
...
So then, where does Caswyn go to think?

Pihne
He'd always go to a hill to the west of Taillteann where no one would bother him.
I'd be willing to be that he's there right now!

Talvish
The west of Taillteann?
In that case, I think we've all had plenty of rest. Shall we head out and find Caswyn?

Avelin
We?

Talvish
Yes, WE.

Avelin
*Sigh*
You guys are out of your minds.

(You and the knigts travel to a hill in west Taillteann.)

Pihne
This is the place! But... Where's Caswyn?

Talvish
We could ask the Heruin Unit if they know where Caswyn is.
But that might make him look bad in front of his unit...
The best we can do for now is continue searching around Taillteann.
We'll come up with a new plan if we can't find him.

Avelin
Do we really NEED Caswyn?

Talvish
That's a very negative line of thinking, Avelin. We are a team, and function as a whole.
Like Pihne said, Caswyn might have a good reason for not being on time.

Avelin
I'm not going to argue abuot this anymore...

Talvish
Good. I'll head north while Avelin and Altam head east. Pihne, you go west.
(Character Name), you take the south.
We'll spread out our search so we overlap with one another.
If no one has any questions, then let's get moving!

> Prompt: Head South

(You've agreed to head south to look for Caswyn.)

Shadow Mission: Eye of an Eagle Owl 1

(You borrow Pihne's Gem.)

(You look for traces of Caswyn with the Gem's help.)

(There are faint traces of Caswyn here. He probably left a while ago.)

(Caswyn's trail leads to Taillteann. Keep tracking him down.)

(The clues are helping you narrow your search down.)

(You might find Caswyn at this rate!)

(Look for more traces of Caswyn.)

(Caswyn HAS to be somewhere in Taillteann.)

(Continue searching for Caswyn.)

(It looks like Cawsyn went even further northwest.)

(Caswyn can't be far from here. Don't stop now!)

(The gem directs you much further west, into the western mountains of Taillteann. There, behind a tree, you find a person.)

(Character Name)
(Caswyn seems to be asleep...)
(...)
(...)
(You should wake him up.)

Caswyn
....I wasn't sleeping.

(Caswyn stands up.)

Caswyn
I knew you'd come.
That's why I hid in a place even Pihne wouldn't find me.

(Caswyn crosses his arms.)

Caswyn
I wanted it to be just you and me.

(MISSION END)

Caswyn
... I take it you were looking for me.
My name is Caswyn, general of the Heruin Unit.
I know this is our first time meeting, but I've heard about all you've done.
...
(Character Name).
I understand you're still aiding the Alban Knights.
I'm sorry if this offends you, but I can't trust you so easily.
The Alban Knights normally don't accept outsiders.
Most people spend many years of their lives preparing to join the Alban Knights...
But that wasn't the case for you.
...
Whether it's keeping an eye on Altam or helping them search for corpses...
Talvish always manages to get you to do the bidding of the Alban Knights.
I wonder why...
What does Talvish want from you...?
Forgive me if this is abrupt...
But I must fight you.
Right here...
Right now...

> Prompt: Do not fight or Fight

> Prompt: Fight

(You agree to fight him.)

Caswyn
...

Shadow Mission: Eye of an Eagle Owl 2

(You and caswyn exchange blows.)

(Caswyn attacks with minor effort.)

(While your guard is up, look for a weak point in Caswyn's defense.)

Caswyn
That necklace...

(...?)

Caswyn
That's the necklace that allows you to see the Elder's memories...
You found this necklace in a stream, correct?
Before you discovered it was a necklace, what did you think it could've been?

> Prompt: A gem or jewel, A dead animal or A sharp sword.

(No matter what answer is chosen:)

Caswyn
...

(The spar continues. Caswyn effortlessly blocks your attacks.)

(He can't be defeated like this.)

Caswyn
There must be a reason that a Milletian would choose to live in this world...
(Character Name).
What is it that you live for?

(This question is way more serious than the last one.)

(He might be trying to distract you.)

Caswyn
I must know why you're here.

> Prompt: To become stronger, To seek truth and justice or To make friends

(No matter what answer is chosen:)

Caswyn
... Very well.

(This fight seems like it will go on forever.)

Caswyn
They say Milletians can change their appearance, age, and genders freely.
If that's true...
What aspect would you keep the same?

> Prompt: My clothes, My habits and mannerisms or My personality and memories

(No matter what answer is chosen:)

Caswyn
...

(The fight has been going on for a while, but Caswyn doesn't look tired at all.)

(He might be going easy on you.)

(You can't beat him like this...)

Caswyn
Some believe you're a god.
Do you agree?

> Prompt: I am a god, I am not a god or I am a partial god

Caswyn
...
...

(MISSION END)

Caswyn
...
On second thought...
It's not worth it.
Fate already knows the outcome, so there's no point in fighting.

(...?)

Caswyn
This was just my way of testing you before I returned to Talvish and the others.
We must know who can be trusted and who cannot.
I admit it wasn't the best method, but...
...
I choose to trust you... for now.

Any Way the Wind Blows

If you've found Caswyn, then we'll head your way immediately. -Talvish

Talvish
Thank you for finding Caswyn, (Character Name). Please take some time to rest up.

Avelin
Do you have any idea how serious the situation is, Caswyn?
We looked high and low for you! Where in the world were you?

Talvish
Don't get angry, Avelin.

Caswyn
...

Avelin
Hey! Are you even listening?!

Caswyn
Yes.

Avelin
If you were a part of my unit, you would NOT be getting off easy. Consider yourself lucky.

Talvish
You're being a bit hard on him, Avelin.
Caswyn, can you tell us why you weren't at the Emain Macha Assembly Area?

Caswyn
Well...

Avelin
You try getting through to him, Pihne.

Pihne
...Okay. I'll give it a try.
Caswyn!

Avelin
...

Talvish
...

Altam
...

(All eyes are on Pihne.)

Pihne
You've totally been acting selfish and rude! You need to be more responsible with your actions!

Caswyn
I...

Pihne
I'm not messing around!

Avelin
That's it? THAT'S all you have to say?

Caswyn
Please, forgive me.

Avelin
Say what?

(Avelin is taken aback by Caswyn's response.)

Pihne
You really haven't changed at all, Caswyn. You talk the same, you act the same... your hair's the same...
And you STILL wear your armor all wrong!

Caswyn
...

Pihne
If you're going to go around fighting, the least you could do is put your armor on correctly!

Altam
You're, like, the nicest person ever, Pihne.

Talvish
So, all four generals are finally together.
The time has come to track down and defeat the Prophets.
But first, I'd like to discuss Altam's role in the Alban Knights.

Altam
...!

Talvish
I assume Caswyn and Pihne know the details.
Since (Character Name) will be with us until we complete our mission, I think it's only fair that Altam be included as well.
Avelin is still undecided, so I'd like to hear Caswyn and Pihne's thoughts.

Pihne
Altam should be able to do what HE wants!
He may be young, but he's bursting with potential! Plus, (Character Name) will keep an eye on him!

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Caswyn, what do you think?

Caswyn
Do what you feel is right.

Talvish
...We need a more direct answer.

Altam
C-Caswyn...!

Caswyn
...Very well. In that case, I have no objections.

Talvish
Good. All that remains is your vote, Avelin.

Avelin
...Fine. He can come.
BUT if you slow us down or put any of us in danger, you're out. Got it?

Altam
YAY! I promise I won't disappoint you! And I'll carry my own weight, too!

Avelin
Just don't try to take on more than you can handle, and keep the mistakes to a minimum.

Pihne
And if you ever feel like you're in trouble, just tell us!

Altam
I-I definitely will!

Talvish
I wish all of our decisions could be this easy. (Character Name), I leave Altam in your hands.

Altam
Um...
Um...!

(Altam looks like he wants to say something.)

> Prompt: Watch silently or Urge Altam to speak

Talvish
If you have nothing to say...

Altam
WAIT! I do have something I want to say! Talvish, I have a suggestion.

Talvish
And what would that be?

Altam
This groups isn't really the Arthuan Unit anymore, is it? I mean, look at us! Even (Character Name) is here!

Talvish
Correct. This is just a temporary unit.

Altam
Well, since this kind of thing never happens...
I wanted to give our group a special name!

Talvish
I was wondering where you were going with this. Your enthusiasm sure is infectious, Altam.
And that's not a bad idea, either. Did you have a name in mind?

Altam
Yeah! I have the PERFECT name! We can be the Celestial Six!

Talvish
The Celestial Six...
Hmm... What does everyone think?

Avelin
Not bad, actually. Sounds pretty fierce.

Altam
Th-thanks, Avelin!

Avelin
Yeah, yeah. Just don't let it get to your head.

Altam
Yes, Ma'am! I won't go too crazy!

Pihne
Altam, you can be SO adorable!

Talvish
If we're all in agreement, then we shall henceforth call ourselves the Celestial Six!
Let's make our way over to Cor Village. Word is the Prophets have been spotted there.

(You return the gem to Pihne.)

(You search Cor Village's environs with the knights.)

Pihne
I guess that's all we'll find out in Cor Village.
If we piece the clues together...
The Apostles are likely coming back here tonight.

Talvish
You're so friendly, Pihne. Everyone is always so willing to tell you what they know.
I never imagined the residents of Cor Village would be this friendly to outsiders.
Anyway, let's wait here until dark.

Caswyn
How strange...

Avelin
Come again?

Caswyn
It's very strange.

Avelin
What the hell is wrong with you? How can you be so pessimistic all the time?

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Please don't take what he says the wrong way, Avelin!
Caswyn may seem cold, but he's one of the most reliable people you'll ever meet!

Avelin
I wouldn't count on it.

> Prompt: Wait until midnight

(You wait around Cor Village until midnight.)

Shadow Mission: Any Way the Wind Blows

Talvish
I imagine there'll be a barrier surrounding the Apostle again.
Altam and I will look for the Prophets. The rest of you shoulud engage the Apostle.

Caswyn
...

Talvish
However, I doubt the Prophets will be controlling the Apostle from a nearby vantage point again.
Regardless, we must defeat it at all costs.
If we need to make an emergency escape, we can create a temporary hole in the barrier.

Avelin
I really hope it doesn't come down to that...

Talvish
We just have to try our best. Good luck, everyone.

> On-screen text: After Talvish and Altam take off...

Avelin
...
It seems dark enough, but there's still no sign of the Apostle.
I hope this isn't like what happened at Qilla Base Camp. If it is, we have to be REALLY close to sense them.

Pihne
Avelin! Over there...!

(An apostle appears.)

Avelin
...!

(You fight the Apostle, without much success.)

Avelin
Put some effort into it, Caswyn!

Caswyn
Not yet.

Avelin
You're unbelievable!

(You all, minus Caswyn, try to make a dent into the apostle.)

Caswyn
It's useless.

Avelin
...?

Caswyn
It's somehow negating the damage from our attacks.
But our Divine Light isn't being affected.
We must combine our Divine Light with our attacks if we're going to make any progress.

Avelin
...

Pihne
I think I get it! Let's give it a shot!

Caswyn
... I'll do it myself.

(You follow Caswyn's advice, and effectively manage to damage it. It eventually falls in combat.)

(A Black Wizard watches from above the battle unfold.)

Black Wizard
...

(MISSION END)

Avelin
How did you know what to do, Caswyn?

Caswyn
...
I just... observed the enemy.

Avelin
Is that why you refused to fight in the beginning?

Caswyn
I don't see the point in wasting energy when we don't have a proper plan.

Avelin
...

(Avelin looks a little offended.)

Talvish
I would never have had that idea...
Who would've thought that combining our Divine Light with our normal attacks would be effective?
Gathering Divine Light in a place like that is risky in itself.
Plus, doing it consumes a great deal of our energy.
Hm...
Perhaps this is something only the generals can do.

Caswyn
...

Talvish
We could use a break.

Forgotten Land

... -Caswyn

(You take the opportunity to check on the necklace.)

(...)

(You completely focus on the necklace.)

Shadow Mission: Forgotten Land 1

(You see a vision of Avalon Gate.)

The Elder
This land has belonged to the Alban Knights since the very beginning.
We have been faithful to our duty and have protected Avalon Gate.
None have entered the holy land under our watch.
Our Divine Light distorts the path to Avalon Gate and keeps it hidden from outsiders.
Our fortress has helped us defend against invaders.

(You watch as the focus shifts to the Round Table, with all its seats seats filled with various unit members and leaders. A strange object floats in the middle of the table, emitting a blue light.)

The Elder
And we've kept the Sacred Mark from falling into the hands of the enemy.
However...
Our efforts may not hold up much longer.
The Heretics have been showing up more frequently and in much greater numbers.
They are drawn to the Divine Light that flows from the Sacred Mark.
The invasions have been getting out of control...
Therefore, I have divided the Sacred Mark into four shards and shall bestow each shard upon the four generals.
Arthuan, Eiler, Heruin, and Elved... Defend these shards with your life.
When the time is right, the four generals and I will seal the shards.
We shall keep intruders from disturbing Avalon Gate once and for all.
All who sacrificed themselves to defend Avalon Gate will not have died in vain.
In the name of Aton Cimeni!

Alban Knights
In the name of Aton Cimeni!

(The atmosphere is very serious.)

(This Sacred Mark appears to be very important.)

(Your focus shifts on the Elder, who speaks with Arthuan after the meeting.)

Arthuan
Commander! I've been waiting for you.

The Elder
The time to seal your shard has come.
Are you ready, Arthuan?

Arthuan
Of course I am!
I'm ready when you are, Commander.
I've kept the shard safe for this day!

The Elder
Your confidence is truly admirable.
Let's make our way to the site where we shall seal your shard.

(Your focus shifts to some area in Physis. There, a giant altar modeled after the Alban Knights stands tall.)

Arthuan
I never thought the altar would be in a place like this!
I sense Divine Light everywhere...

The Elder
This altar now belongs to you, Arthuan. It will only react to your power.
You did not know about this place because your destiny had not yet brought you here.

Arthuan
Even after chasing the Heretics all over, I still never saw this place...

The Elder
We don't have much time. Let's begin.
Arthuan, seal your shard within the altar.

Arthuan
Yes, sir!

(...)

(The memory ends here.)

(MISSION END)

Talvish
Do you have something you wish to tell me, (Character Name)?

(Should you tell Talvish about the memory you saw?)

> Prompt: Keep Quiet or Tell Talvish

> Prompt: Tell Talvish

(You quietly tell him about the memory.)

Talvish
...
Really...?
Hmm... That's...
...
Quite confusing! I need some time to digest this.
I'll talk to the other generals about it.

(You allow talvish to do so while moving westward.)

Talvish
(Character Name).
Let's talk about the memories you saw.

Avelin
...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
...

Talvish
The memories you've seen are not memories of the present-day Alban Knights.
The Elder, the generals, and all of the knights...
They're from the distant past.
I'm sure you know all this already.
Altam, Avelin, Pihne, Caswyn, and myself do not appear in any of the memories.
You've also mentioned that the armor you saw in the memories was different from ours.
This is because the armor of the past was very minimal. Our armor is a significant step up from past knights.
To be honest, much of the Alban Knights's history...
...is missing.
We once believed Avalon Gate had never been invaded.
But the memories say otherwise. Avalon Gate has apparently been invaded multiple times.
And your necklace... It once belonged to the Elder...
Sadly, we know nothing else about it.
We know so little about the Elder, much like the rest of our history.
The only way to learn more about the Elder is to keep using the necklace.
You must keep searching his memories for answers.
I only know a few things about the Elder.
He formed the Alban Knights and was the very first Commander.
And his body...
... Rests beyond Avalon Gate.
(Character Name).
We only ever saw Avalon Gate as ruins.
None of us thought it was possible to actually open the gate.
Even the very thought of it was absurd...
But if the Sacred Mark, the key to Avalon Gate, really exists...
And if the four shards really are sealed away somewhere...
Then anyone can open Avalon Gate.
The Prophets came to Avalon Gate for that very reason.
Their purpose isn't entirely clear...
However, we do know one thing for sure.
All four shards are required to open the gate.
If we have at least one of the pieces, the Prophets can't open Avalon Gate.
That said, let's head to Lunae Valley.
We must find the altar where the Arthuan Shard is sealed.

(You travel to Physis, at the mentioned location.)

Pihne
It SHOULD be here, but I don't see any altar.

Caswyn
There must be more to it.

Pihne
More to it?
Oh! We have to make the altar appear somehow, right?

Caswyn
That's what (Character Name) said.
The Arthuan general emitted a blue light after trying to seal the shard.

Avelin
That's what happens when someone uses up all of their Divine Light.

Caswyn
Avelin.
You're the current leader of the Arthuan Unit. You should give it a try.

Pihne
But wait! If she uses all of her Divine Light, it might take her a while to recover!
Are you going to be okay, Avelin?

Avelin
Well, just because the Arthuan general from the past pulled it off doesn't mean I will.
I AM feeling a bit pressured, though...

Caswyn
...

Avelin
But I guess we don't have time to worry about that kind of stuff, do we?
Whatever. I'll do it.

Altam
Avelin!
I'll keep you safe after you use up all of your Divine Light!

Avelin
Don't worry about me, Altam.
I'll be back on my feet in no time!

Altam
Okay...

Talvish
Then we're counting on you, Avelin.
I hope this memory will give us some answers.
But remember, (Character Name) can't use the necklace on a whim.
So this might be the best time.

> Prompt: Observe or Concern for Avelin

> Prompt: Observe

(You just observe for now.)

Shadow Mission: Forgotten Land 2

Avelin
HYAAAH!

(Avelin musters up all of the Divine Light within her, and then smashes it to the ground. The altar from the vision appears in front of her.)

Talvish
I-it was right here the whole time?
There was nothing a moment ago.

(Avelin wobbles where she stands. Pihne walks up to her immediately.)

Avelin
Ugh...

Pihne
Are you okay, Avelin? Do you need help?

Avelin
Just a little disoriented, but I can move.
I'm not going to lie... Having all your Divine Light drained sucks.

Caswyn
Wait...
Someone's here.

(Brilluen and Marcan are there, next to an opened chest.)

Avelin
The Prophets?! How did they get here?!

Altam
T-Talvish! Look at that thing in front of Brilluen!

Talvish
It looks like the chest that houses the Arthuan Shard...

Marcan
Brilluen!

Brilluen
WHAT?!

Marcan
Knights. Here. Must leave.

Brilluen
How cute! You managed to find this place all on your own!

Avelin
Shut your mouth! How did YOU find this place?

Brilluen
You know, that attitude is going to make you age, sweetheart. I think I already see some wrinkles on your forehead!

Talvish
We must recover that shard, Avelin...

Brilluen
Well, I guess playtime's over for now.

Marcan
Brilluen smart. Brilluen no fail.

Brilluen
Oh, Marcan. Even when you sing my praises, you find a way to get on my nerves.
It's such a shame to let them just walk away... Oh, well! Until next time, my lovelies!

(The prophets disappear, leaving reanimated corpses and two Zebachs behind them. You defeat them, and then...)

Pihne
Guys! Is... Is this... ?

(The body of a knight is unveiled.)

Talvish
From the look of the armor, this could be the Arthuan general from the past...

Pihne
I think he's unconscious. Should I try healing him?

Talvish
I don't think he's a human. He seems more like a spirit.

Pihne
Hm...

Talvish
What should we make of all this?

Caswyn
The spirit was here with the Arthuan Shard.
Perhaps the spirit was trying to defend it from the Prophets.
The Prophets seemed a little more on edge...
If this spirit hadn't been here to help, we may not have run into the Prophets.

(MISSION END)

A Knight's Musings

...? -Caswyn

Pihne
I searched all around the altar, but I couldn<t find the Arthuan Shard anywhere.
My guess is that the Prophets have it.

Altam
I'm still so confused...
How did the Prophets find Arthuan's Altar?
How did they get here before we did?
Only the Alban Knights know about it!

Avelin
We're all thinking the same thing, Altam.

Pihne
Where did we go wrong?!

Altam
Maybe they got their hands on our plans somehow!

Avelin
Come on...
We aren't that careless. We would never leave sensitive information just lying around for the enemy to see.

Talvish
That's right.

Pihne
Yep!

Altam
I-I see...

Caswyn
...

Talvish
The Prophets made it clear that they won't rest until they breach Avalon Gate.
We can't let that happen.
But what could they possibly be hoping to accomplish?

Avelin
It's not like there's anything beyond Avalon Gate except the Elder's body.
Wait... You don' think...

Caswyn
They're going after the Elder's body...

Altam
The Elder's body?! That's insane!

Talvish
...

Caswyn
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense.
We know that the Prophets are able to revive and control the dead.
We also know that the Elder's body rests beyond Avalon Gate.
If the Prophets know about Avalon Gate and are trying to pass through it, it only makes sense that they're going after the Elder's body.

Pihne
Why the Elder? Why not just revive a bunch of really strong monsters, like elves and giants, and control them?

Altam
Y-yeah!

Pihne
But what you're saying does make a lot of sense, Caswyn...

Altam
But like Pihne said, why the Elder?
Why are the Prophets going through all this trouble just to revive him?

Avelin
Well, the Elder received his Divine Light directly from Aton Cimeni himself.
That must be very valuable to the Prophets somehow.

Altam
C-could they be trying to turn the Elder into some kind of weapon?!

Pihne
...

Talvish
It seems we're all on the same page.
We must reexamine our plan of attack.
There are two things we need to do.
First, we must find the Prophets and reclaim the Arthuan Shard.
Second, we must find the remaining three shards.
However, Avelin and (Character Name) have used up quite a bit of energy...
Hm... All right. Change of plans.
Avelin, you and (Character Name) rest up while we continue hunting the Prophets.

Caswyn
...I'd also like to rest.

Avelin
What do YOU need to rest for?

Caswyn
It's a secret.

Avelin
...?

Caswyn
I'm kidding. I'm just exhausted.
I consumed a lot of Divine Light during the fight.

Avelin
Did you just try to crack a joke? That was terrible.

Talvish
It's fine, Caswyn. You can rest. Pihne, Altam, and I will go.
You should try relaxing in the hot springs. If you take the Mana Tunnel, you'll be there in no time.
Please take care of each other.

Avelin
Don't worry about me.
You just keep an eye on Altam.

Talvish
Heh. We'll do our best.

Altam
All right, time to move out!
Try not to miss me too much, guys!

(The trio leaves.)

Avelin
Should we get going?

Caswyn
...

(You head to the springs.)

Caswyn
We should prepare camp.
How irritating...

> Prompt: Set up Camp

(You help Caswyn set up camp.)

Shadow Mission: A Knight's Musings

(Caswyn has something to say.)

(You two step away from the camp to talk.)

Caswyn
(Character Name)...
...
What do you make of recent events?
The Prophets invaded Avalon Gate not too long ago.
Then, we faced them at Arthuan's Altar.
...How is this happening?
How are we supposed to find the Prophets if it's always like this?
They're always one step ahead of us...
...
It just doesn't make sense. Unless...
...There is a traitor among us.
I don't wish to discuss this with anyone else but you for now.
If we start mistrusting each other, then we're doing exactly what the Prophets want.
I don't want to believe there is a traitor among us, but it would be foolish to rule out the possibility.
...
(Character Name)...
(Character Name), what do you think about Talvish?

>Prompt: He is righteous, He is unruly, He is untrustworthy

Caswyn
As for me, I just don't know...
I don't know what Talvish is truly like.
He is an exemplary knight. he is highly respected. But I just don't know...
Some of his decisions simply don't make sense.
Sometimes I investigate his dubious decisions, but they all mysteriously solve themsleves as if someone were covering them up.
...If one were to assume that Talvish was a traitor, then his actions would make more sense.
...
(Character Name)...
I don't trust Talvish.
I don't want to believe that he's a traitor.
And I have no desire to bring down a person whom everyone respects.

(Reanimated corpses appear.)

Caswyn
...
That's all I have to say.

(Enemies have appeared! A fight is unavoidable.)

(You protect the camp.)

(MISSION END)

Altam
Hey, everyone! We're back!

Avelin
Any luck finding the Prophets?

Altam
We searched a few places, but we couldn't find anything...

Pihne
It was SO exhausting! Why does Iria have to be so huge?
They weren't near any villages. That would've been too easy.

Talvish
It appears we have no choice but to have (Character Name) use the necklace again.
Have you gotten enough rest?

Avelin
A little more rest couldn't hurt.
Caswyn and (Character Name) managed to handle the mess outside without me.
I just wish I wasn't so useless right now...

Talvish
Don't be hard on yourself, Avelin. You can't do much without your Divine Light.

Avelin
Thanks, Talvish...

Altam
Yeah! Chin up, Avelin!

Avelin
That's a really grown-up way to act, Altam. Thank you.

Altam
Heh, thank YOU!

Talvish
Let's give (Character Name) some more time to recover before using the necklace again.

Circle of Damnation

Let's rest first. We can chat about the gold old days with Caswyn! -Pihne

(Pihne and Caswyn are deep in conversation.)

Pihne
It's been a while since we've been on the same mission together, hasn't it?

Caswyn
It certainly has.

Pihne
I always think about the days we spent in the same unit together. I hope I'm not being too sentimental...
It's just... No matter hat you do, you've always been yourself. You never change for anyone, Caswyn.
It feels like no time has passed at all when I'm with you.
You still go off on your own when you need to think...
You always help even when it burdens you...
You always put others before yourself...
That's how you've always been, Caswyn!

Caswyn
I don't know what you're talking about...

Pihne
Of course you'd say that! You really haven't changed a bit. The only thing that's different is that emblem.

Caswyn
What emblem?

Pihne
The green shield emblem on your clothes! It looks like it's pretty important.

Caswyn
Oh, this.
...
I don't even remember what it's for.

Pihne
SURE you don't...
Honestly, Caswyn. You could really use a decent set of armor.
You never know when we'll run into the Prophets!

> Prompt: ...

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

Pihne
...!
Caswyn... wait...

Caswyn
What is it?

Pihne
GET AWAY!

(Pihne runs and hides behind a rock. You follow her.)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me...)

Pihne
The voice... The stupid voice...
Why?! Why did it come back?!

(Pihne is having an episode.)

Pihne
Oh, (Character Name)...
...
I know you're right next to me... I just... I can't even see you...
...
...
There's no point in keeping this a secret anymore...
I've wanted to tell you about this for a while now.
...
Caswyn says he trusts you.
So please, don't say anything to anyone.
ESPECIALLY Caswyn. He can't know about this.

> Prompt: Ask why not or Listen to Pihne

Pihne
...
I don't know why any of this is happening...
But after we fought the undead that the Prophets revived...
I've been... hearing things...
I keep hearing a voice...
It's so loud... and I can't control it! I'm always jumpy and anxious now, even when I don't hear it.
I've been pretending like nothing's wrong because I didn't want anyone to worry...
But I'm afraid someone will find out soon!
*Sigh* I feel a lot better now that I've told you. Thank you so much for listening to me.
Just promise you won't say anything, okay?

(Pihne returns by Caswyn's side. You check on the necklace.)

(...)

(You completely focus on the necklace.)

(You've rested long enough to see more of the Elder's memories.)

Shadow Mission: Circle of Damnation

(Your view shifts to that of the Elder in port Ceann.)

The Elder
Today is the day.
Today is YOUR day, Heruin.
I bestow this shard of the Sacred Mark to you.
It is in your hands now.

Heruin
Thank you, Commander. Before we begin...
There's something I'd like to do.

The Elder
What is that?

Heruin
I want to set up extra security around the altar.

The Elder
Extra security?
This place shall be guarded by knights are all times. Do we really have the need for extra security?

Heruin
You never know what the future holds. It's best to prepare for the worst.

The Elder
You always find the words to persuade me. Very well. You may do as you see fit.

Heruin
Thank you.
May I begin?

The Elder
Go right ahead.

(Heruin invokes her Divine Light, and emblems appear on the ground around the altar.)

Heruin
It's ready, Commander.
Avoid the security devices and stand upon my emblems.
If you stand still on all of them, the devices will disappear.

(As the elder does so, your vision fades back to your own location.)

(MISSION END)

Talvish
Were you able to see anything about the shards in the memory?

Caswyn
...

(Caswyn shoots Talvish a suspicious glance.)

(Should you share what you saw in the memory with Talvish?)

> Prompt: Keep quiet or Look at Caswyn

(You clear your throat. All eyes are on you.)

Talvish
...?

(You share what you saw in the memory.)

Talvish
So, the Heruin Shard is in Uladh...

Avelin
Then let's move out as soon as we can.
We can't let the Prophets get there before we do!

Talvish
My thoughts exactly.
According to the memory, there are some security devices guarding Heruin's Altar.

Caswyn
...

Blue Flame

... -Caswyn

(You travel to Port Ceann.)

Talvish
Wait a minute... Where's Caswyn?

Avelin
What the?! Where did he go? We can't waste any time right now!

Pihne
He said he wanted to get there before everyone else did...

Avelin
To Heruin's Altar?

Pihne
Yes...

Talvish
Then we'd better hurry!

(You hurry to the location.)

Avelin
He's not here.
I knew it... I knew he wouldn't be.
How can the Heruin Unit even function with someone so unreliable as their leader?
Doesn't Caswyn know that his poor choices put all of us in danger? Why do we even have rules if he just continues to ignore them?!

Altam
Avelin...

Avelin
...I'm done trying to understand him.

Talvish
Forget it, Avelin. Let's secure the perimeter for now.
We'll just wait for Caswyn to return.

Pihne
Avelin...
Call it a hunch, but I don't think Caswyn is too far from here.

> Prompt: Wait for Caswyn

(You wait for Caswyn to return.)

Shadow Mission: Blue Flame

(You check up on the surroundings.)

Avelin (Chat Bubble):
Where'd Caswyn go?

(Caswyn appears behind the you, as does the Heruin Altar. Everyone turns around.)

Altam (Chat Bubble):
!

Talvish
...?

Avelin
Caswyn?!

(Caswyn is holding a strange object, looking at it.)

Pihne
Caswyn! When did you get here?

Caswyn
Not long ago.
Take a look...

(He gestures at Brilluen and Pennar, each of them standing in a light pillar.)

Caswyn
I modified the security device into a trap.
It worked quite well on those two.

Pennar
...

Brilluen
Well, I didn't expect THAT!
I just LOVE surprises!
It's SO precious seeing what you humans can accomplish when you put your minds to it.

Pennar
Where in the world is Marcan?

Brilluen
Oh, PLEASE. Don't tell me you're scared, Pennar!

Caswyn
You two.
Maybe I'll hand over the Heruin Shard if you can step over here and get it.

Pennar
...
Don't toy with us.

Brilluen
He's taunting us! Is THIS what it feels like to be treated like an idiot?
Marcan must HATE me! Oh, well. That idiot deserves it.

(Marcan appears, an armored Zebach in tow.)

Marcan
We go now.

(Marcan frees Brilluen and Pennar.)

Brilluen
Speak of the devil! Good timing, you oaf!
I just might go a bit easier on you!

(You battle the Zebach.)

Talvish
This Apostle is a more powerful version of the one from before.
Even with all of us together, this was still a difficult battle.
I imagine they'll only get stronger from here...

Pihne
The Prophets keep showing up with new kinds of Apostles...
Maybe they're getting desperate!
They're doing whatever they can to get their hands on those shards.

Altam
This is so crazy!
The Prophets should just leave the Elder alone!

Caswyn
...

Talvish
How are you holding up, Caswyn?

Caswyn
I'm fine.

Talvish
I can't tell if you're being sincere...

Pihne
Caswyn never feels how he says he feels.
You can be honest with us, Caswyn! The Prophets are gone now.

Avelin
Caswyn...
You acted completely on your own without saying a word to any of us.
Do you even take us into consideration when you act? What do you have to say for yourself?

Caswyn
...

Talvish
I shouldn't get in the middle of this. I'll just make everything worse.

Pihne
Don't worry! I'll see if I can help.

(MISSION END)

(Avelin calmed down after Pihne talked to her.)

Talvish
We can all thank Caswyn for securing the Heruin Shard for us. I think we've earned ourselves a little rest.
This probably gave the Prophets a serious wake-up call.
If Marcan hadn't intervened, we could've captured Pennar and Brilluen.
We could've forced them to tell us everything they knew...

Altam
F-forced?

Pihne
Talvish! Don't even suggest things like that!
Caswyn, did you notice anything peculiar at Heruin's Altar?

Caswyn
Yes, there was something...
Or rather, someone...
I couldn't tell who it was because its face was covered.
It didn't say a word when I tried speaking to it.
However... it helped me lure the Prophets into the trap.
I believe it's there to protect the altar.

Pihne
Oh, wow!
I wonder if it's lonely here all by itself...

Avelin
That's not important...
What IS important is how the Prophets even made it to Heruin's Altar.

Talvish
Hm...

Avelin
Let's take some time to think about it. Besides, we have the Heruin Shard now.
We just have to find out how they made it here.

Talvish
We shouldn't bother the Commander with this until we have more details.
We have some investigating to do.

Altam
Um...
I've been thinking about this for a while now...
But do you guys get the feeling that one of us might be working with the Prophets?

Avelin
Altam! Stop spouting nonsense!

Talvish
Do you have any evidence, Altam?

Avelin
Don't entertain him, Talvish!

Caswyn
...

Altam
I don't, but...

Pihne
Altam.
We Alban Knights are very different from one another.
But one thing we all have in common is our fierce devotion to Aton Cimeni and our divine duty.
Not one of us would dare collaborate with those wretched Prophets!

Altam
But how is this all happenning?!
It all makes sense if it's a spy!

Avelin
Enough, Altam.

Caswyn
Hold on. Does no one have anything else to say?

Pihne
...

Talvish
...

Avelin
...

Caswyn
Nobody?

Avelin
Are you trying to start an argument?

Caswyn
Of course not. I just wanted to see if anyone had a more reasonable idea.
But if nothing comes to mind, then we should investigate Altam's theory.

Avelin
That's crazy! You really think there's a traitor among us? There has to be some other explanation!

Caswyn
Such as?

Avelin
...

Pihne
To be honest...
I'm not sure myself.

Avelin
What do you mean, Pihne?

Pihne
Well, it might be a bad idea to be chasing the Prophets if one of us is a traitor.
They haven't been able to get the better of us yet...
But now that we have the Heruin Shard, they might try anything to get it from us.

Avelin
You can't be serious...
Talvish, you must be thinking something about this.

Talvish
...We have to approach this rationally.
We have to keep pursuing the Prophets if we want answers.
They hold vital information that we need.
However, it is true that it would be stupid to chase the Prophets if there is a spy.
On top of that, the Prophets have extended their reach to Iria.
We already have the Heruin Shard, so it might be best to stay put for now.

Avelin
So now YOU'RE entertaining the idea?

Talvish
I'm merely considering the possibilities. We should be trusting each other, not accusing.
It could tear us apart if we suspect one another.

Caswyn
...

Talvish
What are your thoughts, (Character Name)?
Your opininon matters, as well.

> Prompt: There is no traitor, There is a traitor or I am the traitor

> Prompt: I am the traitor

(You claim that YOU are the traitor.)

Talvish
Hm?!

Avelin
Wh-what?!

Altam
(Character Name)?!

Pihne
What are you saying?!

Caswyn
...?

Talvish
Well...
I appreciate what you're trying to do.
You want to pin the blame on yourself to keep us from suspecting each other.
That's very noble of you.
Unfortunately, we know that's not true.
Do you recall what I said when we first met?
I told you that the Alban Knights had a very close watch on you.
We have eyes and ears everywhere. We always know what you're doing, even when you're not with us.
We know you're not the traitor.

Altam
(Character Name)...
I know you want to protect us...
But you don't have to drag your own name through the mud to do it!
I just don't want any of us to actually accuse you...

Talvish
(Character Name).
I must make a suggestion.
Perhaps you shouldn't share the memories you see with the necklace for now.

Pihne
Yeah, it'd be best not to talk about them if there really is a spy...
So... Should we just hang out like Talvish suggested earlier?

Down Time

Let's take a break from chasing after those bloody Prophets. -Talvish

(You spot Talvish moving to where Caswyn went.)

Caswyn
What are you doing here?

Talvish
We were worried about you. Are you recovering well, Caswyn?

Caswyn
I told you already. I'm fine.

Talvish
Well, Pihne doesn't seem to think so.
Is she wrong?

Caswyn
...

Talvish
You really are an interesting person. Your face is impossible to read.
But a person's face only hides so much. I sense a tormented soul behind your iron exterior.
Now that I think about it...
You remind me of someone...

Caswyn
If I'm going to rest, I'll need some peace and quiet. I'd appreciate it if you left me alone. Thanks.

Talvish
Why do you wish to isolate yourself at a time like this?

Caswyn
...

Talvish
If you'll allow me, I can share my Divine Light with you.
It'll help you recover faster.

Caswyn
I'm fine.

Talvish
You really should just let me help you. There's nothing to worry about.

Caswyn
I said I'm fine. I don't need your help.

Talvish
Why are you acting hostile? You need to recover not only for your own sake, but for the sake of the Alban Knights.

Caswyn
How many times must I say it? I don't need or want your help.

Talvish
If you're going to be this difficult...
Then I have no choice but to use force to help you. (Character Name), restrain Caswyn.

> Prompt: Restrain Caswyn or Stop Talvish

Caswyn
...
...
Talvish...

Talvish
Yes?

Caswyn
I don't trust you.
The spy among us... I know it's you!

Talvish
...
Do you really believe that I'm capable of such a thing?

Caswyn
It certainly appears so.

Talvish
Your judgment is normally strong, Caswyn. There must be something compelling you to feel this way.
But tell me this. If you truly do suspect me as a traitor, why would you tell me this to my face?
Wouldn't you be worried that I'd destroy any evidence of my betrayal?

Caswyn
I already have all the evidence I need.
I told you because... I wanted to see the look on your face.
...

Talvish
...

Caswyn
But now that I have... I'm not so sure...

Talvish
?

Caswyn
I know you're the traitor, but I can't figure out what kind of a person you are.
Until I do, you're guilty until proven innocent!

Talvish
For someone who's certain that I'm a spy, I find it peculiar that you're concerned about my character.
That said, I'm quite curious about your "evidence." Would you be willing to show me?

Caswyn
...

Talvish
Is that asking too much?
Let's just forget it, then.
Oh, and Caswyn...
...
I want you to know that I don't hold this against you. I still have nothing but respect for you.

Caswyn
...

(Caswyn and Talvish reconvene with the others.)

Talvish
We must all do our part in keeping the Heruin Shard out of the hands of the Prophets.
It's the responsibility of every memeber of the Celestial Six.

Caswyn
...
Celestial Six?

Pihne
Altam came up with it!
It's the name you, me Avelin, Talvish, Altam, and (Character Name) will go by while we're all together!
You really need to pay more attention!

Talvish
Hm...
That's enough of this. Let's move on to more... serious matters.
(Character Name)...
I have a request.
You are a person of many talents, and that makes you stand out from any other Milletian.

(...?)

Talvish
Most importantly, I hear you're a phenomenal cook!

(...?)

Talvish
It just so happens that the Alban Knights aren't too familiar with the finer points of dining.

Avelin
Talvish, you can't be suggesting...

Talvish
It would be an honor if you cooked for us, (Character Name).

Altam
Wow!
Wow! Wow! Wow!
I loooooove Talvish's idea!

Avelin
No way!

Pihne
I like Talvish's idea, too! It'd be wonderful if we all had a nice meal together.
(Character Name), I would also be honored if you cooked for us!

Avelin
No! No! No!

Altam
Woooooooooooow!

Avelin
ALTAM!
The Alban Knights have a strict diet! We can't just eat any old thing!

Talvish
I think we can make an exception this time, Avelin. We have (Character Name) with us, after all.

Avelin
We can't keep making exceptions like this!

Pihne
We're not breaking any rules! I bet it'll be a lot of fun!

Talvish
Besides, when will we ever have an opportunity like this again?
Plus, this place is abundant with fresh ingredients.

Pihne
What do you think, Caswyn?

Caswyn
I don't care either way.

Pihne
Come on! Doesn't a nice, hot, delicious, home-cooked meal sound nice to you?

Caswyn
...I suppose.

Talvish
Are you okay with all of this, (Character Name)?

> Prompt: I would love to cook

(You agree to cook for the Alban Knights.)

Talvish
Excellent! Then let's start gathering ingredients.
We'll go in pairs.

(The knights all scatter, with the exception of Avelin.)

Avelin
Everyone left! Even Altam!
He probably went to just be with Pihne...
...
...
All right, fine. I'll make an exception just this once.

> Prompt: Gather ingredients

(You start gathering ingredients with Avelin.)

Shadow Mission: Down Time 1

Avelin
There are lots of crabs here.
Why don't you try catching some of those crabs?

(Avelin points at some crabs.)

Avelin
Try those crabs over there.

(You and avelin manage to catch enough crabs.)

Avelin
I think we're good on crabs.
Let's see how the others are doing.

(You check on Pihne.)

Pihne
There you two are!
Altam and I have been scouring the beach for fresh ingredients.
I'm glad to see you changed your mind, Avelin! Are you excited to try (Character Name)'s cooking?

Avelin
Yes...
But just this once!

Pihne
Oh, Avelin! You WOULD say that!
You know, Avelin. You and (Character Name) make a really good team! You both look so cute together!

Avelin
Pihne. Stop being stupid.

(You check on Altam, busy hoeing away in the sand.)

Altam
Look at all the shellfish!
I feel like a real fisherman!
...
Wait... Do fishermen catch fish with hoes?
Aw, who cares! I'm a fisherman!

(You check on Talvish, who is currently fishing.)

Talvish
Are you searching for ingredients with Avelin?
So, Avelin finally embraced change after all.

Avelin
No way! This is the first and last time I eat food prepared by an outsider.
I figured changing things up a bit might ease some tension around here.
Doing this once in a while doesn't hurt.

Talvish
That's the spirit, Avelin!
You shouldn't have to limit the best parts of life.
I'm glad you decided to be a part of this.

Avelin
Yeah, yeah. Knock it off, Talvish.

(You spot Caswyn, who is just laying down.)

Caswyn
...
...

Avelin
...?

Caswyn
...

Avelin
Talvish is really into fishing. Hey... What are you doing, Caswyn?

Caswyn
...Away...

Avelin
Huh?

Caswyn
...Away...

Avelin
Why the heck are you mumbling? What are you trying to say?

(Pihne yells from afar.)

Pihne
Avelin!
He's trying to say "Go away!"

Avelin
...
Seriously, Caswyn?! You're UNBELIEVABLE!

(...)

Avelin
Everyone's gathered plenty of ingredients.

(The knights all circle you with their haul.)

Avelin
All right. Time to get cooking!

(MISSION END)

Talvish
These ingredients should be plenty.

Pihne
We'll be here, so let us know if you need anything, (Character Name)!

Altam
Can I watch?

>Prompt: Start Cooking

(You begin cooking the meal.)

Shadow Mission: Down Time 2

Talvish
If you need more ingredients, let us know. We'll get you whatever you need.

(You ask the knights for more ingredients.)

Talvish
You look like you need some of this.

Altam
Do you need any of this?

Avelin
Is this okay?

Talvish
You look like you need some of this.

Pihne
Is this what you wanted?

Caswyn
...Here. Don't worry if it's not perfect.

(You cook all the necessary dishes.)

(You announce that food is ready!)

(The knights settle down, the catered food in the center.) Talvish
This... is incredible...

Pihne
WOW! Have you ever thought about opening a restaurent, (Character Name)?

Altam
Yeah! You should totally open a restaurant! Then we could eat for free all the time!
If I could eat (Character Name)'s cooking every day, I wouldn't care about getting fat at all!

Pihne
Oh, stop it, Altam! If (Character Name) had a restaurant, we would pay just like everyone else!
Would we...?

Avelin
What are you guys talking about?
You certainly have wild imaginations.

Talvish
(Character Name), you turned these simple ingredients into a fantastic meal.

Altam
It tastes like a dream...

Pihne
It SMELLS like a dream!

Talvish
It's safe to say that I'm incapable of truly understanding the intricacies of cooking.

Caswyn
...

Talvish
I think we've said enough. Let's dig in, everyone!

Pihne
Thank you for the meal, (Character Name)!

Altam
I... I don't want to eat it.

Pihne
What are you saying, Altam?! You'll offend (Character Name)!

Altam
It's just... It's so perfect!
If I eat it, I'll ruin the masterpiece!

Avelin
Oh, Altam...

(MISSION END)

Rugged Waters

That was fun! And just for a moment, I felt... happy. -Pihne

(You check on Caswyn, who went away from the group.)

Caswyn
This atmosphere is... uncomfortable.
How am I supposed to relax?

> Prompt: It brings good energy or You should be alone

Caswyn
Perhaps, this tension is necessary...
...
They all believe there is a traitor.
But no one wants to admit it.
...
You seem exhausted.
It's because you keep using that necklace.
It is a strange necklace, indeed...
None of the Alban Knights can use it, but somehow you can.
And even stranger...
It provides vital information about the Alban Knights. it shows the location of each altar...
It shows us where every shard is...
But you don't have control over the necklace.
You're only able to see what is necessary. I wonder why that is...
...
You say you accidentally found the necklace in the Adelia Stream...
But was it really an accident?

> Prompt: Ask what he means

(You ask what he's getting at.)

Caswyn
...?
I mean exactly what I say.
It all seems a little too planned to have happened by chance.
I haven't thought about it that much...
But I know Talvish has...
For now, all we can do is wait and see.
Personally, I'd like to know more about your necklace.
I hope you don't think we're in any way suspicious of you, (Character Name).
The Alban Knights completely trust you.
And you can thank Talvish for that.
We were a very tight-knit group before he joined the Alban Knights.
Now, we deal with all sorts of people.
It's not like how it used to be...

(Pihne walks up to the both of you.)

Pihne
You've been taking to Caswyn a lot lately.
I think he's really starting to like you!
Not many people can get close to him.

Caswyn
That's not true.

Pihne
Yes, it is!

Caswyn
No, it's not...

Pihne
Psh. Caswyn NEVER talks to people he doesn't like.
He doesn't give any other the other Alban Knights this much attention.
But it'd be pretty weird if Caswyn was suddenly friendly and cheerful, wouldn't it?

Caswyn
Pihne... The more you talk, the more I get the feeling you're hiding something.

Pihne
Hiding? Wh-what do you mean?

Caswyn
(Character Name)...
Tell me what's going on with Pihne.

> Prompt: No idea

(You say you don't know what he's talking about.)

Caswyn
Very well...
...

Pihne
...

Caswyn
I knew you'd say that.
Pihne.
Talk to me when you're ready.

Pihne
I'm fine! Really!

> Prompt: ...

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

Pihne
Ugh!

Caswyn
Pihne!

Pihne
I told you not to worry...

Caswyn
...

(Pihne takes once again a moment away from everyone, and you check on her.)

Pihne
It's over for now...
I can't... do this anymore...
(Character Name)...
I don't know what to do anymore...
I feel like my soul is being ripped apart!

> Prompt: ...

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

> On-screen Text: (It should've... been me who...)

Pihne
IT'S SO LOUD! WHY WON'T IT STOP?!

> Prompt: Can I help?

(You ask if there's anything you can do to help.)

Pihne
...
What... did you say...?

> Prompt: Ask again

(You ask her again if she needs help.)

Pihne
...
(Character Name)...
...
What do I do...?
The voices won't stop...
They're too loud...
I can't hear you... I can't even see you...
...
I have to go back right now.
If I don't, everyone will get suspicious...

(You watch her rejoin the others.)

Altam
Hm...
Why don't we hide the Heruin Shard some place where the Prophets won't be able to find it?

Talvish
And where do you suppose we hide it?
No place is safe from the Prophets...

???
Haaaahahaha!

Avelin
That voice...

Altam
It's the Prophets! They have to be close!
B-but we don't have a plan!

Talvish
Let's scope out the situation before we act.

> Prompt: Observe

(You observe the situation.)

Shadow Mission: Rugged Waters

(Pennar growls.)

Pennar
There's no escape this time.

(You spot the prophets on top of a hill nearby.)

Brilluen
You guys were all here this whole time? We had a HECK of a time looking for you!

Marcan
...

Avelin
What's going on? It doesn't seem like they want to fight.

Talvish
Don't let your guard down for one second...

Caswyn
...

(You battle the Prophets. After a moment, they flee.)

Avelin
They're gone already...

Altam
Should we chase after them?

Avelin
...

Talvish
They didn't even try to take the Heruin Shard...
That went a little too smoothly, if you ask me.

(Suddenly, crystals appear, trapping you and the other knights!)

Altam
Hey! What the heck?!

Avelin
Hyrk!

(You spot a Black Wizard. He has the Heruin Shard in his hand.)

Black Wizard
All is futile before the supreme wisdom of Ladeca.

Caswyn
...?!

(The Black Wizard disappears, taking the shard with him.)

Avelin
The Heruin Shard! NO!

Talvish
...!

Pihne
!!

(MISSION END)

Talvish
Bastards! I can't believe they took the Heruin Shard from us...

Avelin
Talvish...

Talvish
It's our fault for thinking there were only three Prophets...

Caswyn
Do you think the Black Wizard could also be a Prophet?

Talvish
...
That doesn't matter right now. As it stands, we're all the way back to square one.
(Character Name), can you use the necklace to look at another memory?
It's the only choice we have right now.

Collapse

The voices have gotten louder... If it gets worse, I don't know what'll happen. -Pihne

(You use the necklace once again.)

(...)

(You completely focus on the necklace.)

Shadow Mission: Collapse 1

(Your vision comes to the Elder standing next to an altar in Blago Prairie.)

Eiler
There really is an altar here...

The Elder
And it belongs to you, Eiler. Let us begin sealing your shard.

Eiler
Yes, sir! Leave it to me!
...
It's a shame that dividing the Sacred Mark wasn't enough to keep it safe from the enemy.
We.... scatter them... across Erinn... seal...

(...?)

The Elder
We must... respect... wishes of... Cimeni.

Eiler
After we seal this shard...
...Elved's Shard... final piece?

(Parts of the memory are broken up.)

The Elder
Correct.

Eiler
When all... sealed... will... Avalon Gate... peace?
Heretics... gone forever?

(It's hard to make out what they're saying.)

(...)

(The memory ends here.)

(MISSION END)

(Topic added when speaking to Altam: Heretics.)

(You tell everyone about the memory you just saw.)

Talvish
A fuzzy memory, hm? That can't be good.
We should make our way to Blago Prairie.

Avelin
Okay. We need to find out more about this Black Wizard.

(You travel to Blago Prairie.)

Pihne
Hngh...

Avelin
Are you okay, Pihne?

Pihne
Yeah! I'm totally fine!

(Pihne's trying hard to keep it together.)

Talvish
Are you feeling well enough to use your Divine Light to open the altar?

Pihne
...

Talvish
Pihne?

Pihne
Yes... I'm fine, really...

Caswyn
...
Do we have to use Divine Light to open the altar? Isn't there some other way?

Talvish
Hm...

Pihne
I can do it... I'm... I'm fine...

> Prompt: Observe or Stop Pihne

> Prompt: Observe

(You stand back and watch.)

Shadow Mission: Collapse 2

(Pihne uses her Divine Light. The altar appears, but she looks in pain.)

Pihne
...
I think... Maybe I do need to... rest...

Avelin
Pihne... Are you SURE you're okay?

Pihne
Yes, I'm fine... I'll be fine...

(The chest is empty!)

Avelin
...The Prophets were here.
They must've taken the Eiler Shard just before we arrived...

Altam
Then doesn't that mean...
The Prophets are still nearby?!

Caswyn
Hold it!

(A zebach appears.)

Altam
WHOA!
It's that thing again!

Talvish
It was a trap. The Prophets are trying whatever they can to slow us down.

Caswyn
...
It looks like we have no choice but to fight.

(The Zebach summons corpses. you defeat them all the same.)

(MISSION END)

Talvish
If only we had come sooner...
Perhaps there is no traitor among us.
It seems the Prophets came here long before we did.
They may have come even before we learned of Eiler's Altar.

Altam
This is all so confusing...
I just want to know how the Prophets were able to find this place!

Talvish
We shouldn't make any assumptions...
But they may already have the Elved Shard, too.
How could they possibly be a step ahead of us every time?

Pihne
...
Um... (Character Name)?

Talvish
Pihne?

Caswyn
...
I heard that Milletians never get sick or die.
Does that mean you're just super happy about life all the time?

Avelin
...?
What's the point of this, Pihne?
I just... I want to know what life is like for (Character Name)!

> Prompt: It is a happy life, It is a tragic life, or Do not answer

Pihne
...

Avelin
Okay, you don't seem right at all, Pihne. I think we should all take a rest for Pihne's sake.

Pihne
Thanks, Avelin. Thank you, everyone...
But now... I'm...

Caswyn
Pihne...

The Budding Queen

Pihne doesn't look too good. We should let her rest. -Avelin

Avelin
Pihne...? Wait, where'd she go?! She was just here!

Caswyn
...!

(Caswyn disappears.)

Avelin
Caswyn?
And now HE'S gone again...
*Sigh*
I guess we know who Pihne learned to disappear from...

Talvish
Stay focused, Avelin.
Our priority now is to find both of them.
If only the Eiler and Heruin Units could help us...
But they've got their hands full as it is.
We have to find them ourselves.

(You move to the closest Moon Gate.)

Talvish
(Character Name).
I'm sorry about this sudden shift of plans...
But you must search for Caswyn and Pihne.
The Prophets have made it to Belvast...
And they may already have the Elved Shard.
The people of Baltane can't defend themselves. I was cruel before... That's why we must stay and protect them while you find the others.
So please, bring them back in one piece.
We received word that a man resembling Caswyn was spotted near Lake Calida.
They say he seemed like he was desperately searching for something...

Avelin
Desperately searching? That doesn't sound like Caswyn at all.

Talvish
I agree. He's typically very level-headed, especially under pressure.
But they say he has wild blue hair...

Avelin
I mean, it sounds like Caswyn, but there's no way to know for sure. I suppose we don't really have any other choice.

Talvish
(Character Name), can we trust you with this task?

> Prompt: Search for Pihne and Caswyn

(You agree to search for Pihne and Caswyn.)

Shadow Mission: The Budding Queen

(You travel to the Calida Exploration Camp.)

(Gather all the rumors in the area.)

(You ask Arenen about Caswyn.)

Arenen
He had a really... unique look.
Not many people pass through here, so I remember him pretty clearly.
He looked like he was in a hurry. I wonder where he was going...

(You ask Belita about Caswyn.)

Belita
Blue hair? Kinda trim? Yeah, I saw him.
He was talking to Kelpie about something, then he bolted toward the Mana Tunnel.

(You ask Kelpie about Caswyn.)

Kelpie
Oh, HIM.
It looked like he was trying to go to Pera Volcano or Raspa Volcano using the Mana Tunnel.
I think he was looking for someone. It's hard to say. He was so frantic.

(It's clear that someone who might be Caswyn is headed to the Volcano.)

(You use the Mana Tunnel and travel to Pera Volcano.)

(It's a Crystal Boar!)

(You look for clues while defeating the boars.)

???
...Pihne!

(Someone is yelling nearby.)

(...)

Caswyn
...Pihne!

(It's Caswyn!)

(Led by his voice, you catch up with Caswyn, you finally find Pihne standing on the edge of a precipice.)

Caswyn
PIHNE!

Pihne
...

Caswyn
(Character Name)...

(Was Caswyn looking for Pihne this whole time?)

Caswyn
(Character Name), stay back! Don't go near Pihne.
She's.... She's...
Damn it!
There must be a way to save her...
The voices in her head have gotten so bad that they've completely removed her from reality.
(Character Name)...
I think... Pihne is trying to commit suicide by throwing herself into the lava.

(So, Caswyn knew about Pihne's hallucinations, too.)

> Prompt: Ask about the voices

(You ask Caswyn when he first noticed something was wrong with Pihne.)

Caswyn
Well...
I knew from the very beginning... But there was nothing I could do.
The best I could do was to keep a close watch over her...

(Caswyn walks closer to Pihne.)

Pihne
...
I...
I'm such a fool...
I've always tried to be this beacon of happiness for everyone.
I thought that would help me fit in and just be normal...
But...
None of it helped! I still hear these stupid voices!

Caswyn
Pihne...
What can I possibly say... to get through to her...?

Pihne
Caswyn.

Caswyn
?!

Pihne
Don't I look like... such an idiot?
I guess... that doesn't matter. I'm turning into an Apostle...
I just don't want to hurt the people I love!
I came here because everything I feared is coming true.

Caswyn
That's not true, Pihne! None of it will happen if you let me help you!

Pihne
Caswyn... I'm so sorry, but I can't hear you... I can barely see you...
The voices won't stop... I... give up...

Caswyn
NO! Pihne, listen to my voice! We can take you to the Cave of Remorse!
You might be able to save yourself from becoming an Apostle!

Pihne
...

Caswyn
Can't you hear me...? Pihne...

Pihne
The Cave... of Remorse?
It's no use...
I guess this is the price I pay for being different.

Caswyn
You are no different than the rest of us! You're a member of the Alban Knights!
You're the general of the Eiler Unit!

Pihne
I know who I am, and I know who I'm not...

> On-screen Text, with red : (It should've been me who died...)

> On-screen Text, with red : (It should've been me who died...)

> On-screen Text, with red : (It should've been me who died...)

Pihne
(Character Name).
To tell you the truth, I always envied Milletians like you.
You guys never get sick or die.
If only I could live forever...

Pihne
If I kill myself right here and now, then I won't become an Apostle...
But... I'm too afraid to die.
From the very beginning...
I was always a coward.
I've been pretending the whole time... Pretending to be a holy knight...
But none of that matters anymore.
I'll turn into an Apostle soon enough...

Caswyn
Enough, Pihne! You are not turning into an Apostle!
Now let's head back. Everyone's waiting for you...

(Pihne shakes and cries, her hands over her face.)

Pihne
I'm so sorry... I can't hear anything you're saying...
The voices in my head are so full of hate... They're getting louder... They won't stop...
I can't hear anything but the voices!

(A golden light emerges from Pihne's body.)

Caswyn
Pihne!

(Pihne looks up at Caswyn, lowering her hands.)

Pihne
Caswyn...
It's meaningless now... But I've been wanting to tell you this.
Caswyn, I... I've always...

(The light from Pihne's body brightens, and a shockwave knocks Caswyn back. When the light fades, an Apostle is standing in Pihne's place.)

Caswyn
...?
No...
There's no way... Pihne...
I won't let this happen to you!

(Caswyn unsheathes his weapons.)

Caswyn
I know there's a way to save you, Pihne. Everything will be fine..
...
(Character Name.)
I need you to distract Pihne while I prepare the Arthuan Emblems.

(You follow Caswyn's directions.)

Caswyn
All Pihne needs to do is touch the emblems.
But first, we must completely cleanse Pihne of her contamination.

(You lure her. The emblem disappears, but... nothing changes.)

Caswyn
...What?
This shouldn't be happenning...
Let's try the Eiler Emblem this time. Same as before, (Character Name).

(Still, nothing changed.)

Caswyn
...
It can't be...
I don't believe it.
What am I doing wrong?!
Let's try one last time.

(You lure the weakened apostle to the Heruin Emblem. Yet nothing changed.)

Caswyn
Why won't it work...?
Why can't I save Pihne? WHY?!
...
...
What other choice do I have...?

(Caswyn picks up his blades and attacks Pihne. The Apostle is stronger.)

???
HAHAHA!

Caswyn
...?!

(Brilluen appears.)

Brilluen
Well now, it looks like you did all the hard work for us!

Caswyn
...Brilluen!

Brilluen
Oh, come now. Don't look at me like that. I can't even take credit for this!
We have YOU to thank for this!
You must feel like a REAL hero!

Caswyn
When I get my hands on you...

(He runs at Brilluen, but she disappears.)

(MISSION END)

Caswyn
...

> Prompt: Ask what happened

(You ask what happened.)

Caswyn
...
...
It's just as you saw.
Pihne is an Apostle. Now she's gone...
...

> Prompt: We should go back

(You report that the Prophets are in Belvast and suggest going back.)

Caswyn
Hm...
Could they have gathered all four shards?
We must deal with them as soon as possible.
As for Talvish...

(Caswyn leaves without saying more.)

Clashing Blades

I don't know what to do. I don't know what I CAN do... - Caswyn

(You catch up to Caswyn, only to see him and Talvish stand on the log bridge in Scathach Beach.)

(Caswyn and Talvish are talking.)

Caswyn
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
I know you're the spy, Talvish.

Talvish
(Character Name). Good timing.
The Prophets haven't come to Avalon Gate. They must still be somewhere in Belvast.
They must have the Elved Shard...

Caswyn
...

Talvish
Is there something you wish to share, Caswyn?

Caswyn
...Not anything I haven't said before.

Talvish
Good, because we still have a fair amount of investigating to do. I'm more concerned about Pihne than anything else.
You may be right about the Cave of Remorse. Perhaps it can purify her Divine Light.

Caswyn
I don't trust your good intentions.
I'm watching everything you do, Talvish.

(Topic added when speaking with Altam: Corrupted Divine Light)

Talvish
...
I don't know what to say...
(Character Name)...
...
I'm not sure how to reason with Caswyn.
He is absolutely convinced that I'm the traitor.
And nothing will change his mind...
What am I supposed to do?
I trust Caswyn with every fiber of my being, but he refuses to give me that same trust.
How are we supposed to function when we are divided like this?
I'm... I'm worried.
I'm worried that without solidarity, we won't be able to defeat the Prophets.
Caswyn needs to be reasonable about this.
It will only cause more harm if we fight each other.
But I don't know what else to do...
...
...
Very well, Caswyn.
If you'll continue to accuse me as a traitor, then I must defend my honor.
I won't allow you to disgrace the Alban Knights anymore!

Caswyn
It's YOU who brings disgrace to the Alban Knights, Talvish.
Your treachery ends here!

> Prompt: Observe

(You stand back and watch.)

Shadow Mission: Clashing Blades

(Both knights draw their weapons.)

Caswyn
Will you try to stop me, (Character Name)?

(You must stop the fight between Caswyn and Talvish.)

(You can't allow either of them to get severely hurt in the fight. You surmise that to stop them, you must create a tie.)

Talvish
...
I suppose i have no choice but to take my leave for now.
If word of this gets out, it will reflect poorly on the alban knights.
I'll find a way to save Pihne myself.
And I will prove my innocence. Just you wait.
Oh...
Tell Avelin not to worry about anything, will you?

(MISSION END)

(You meet with Avelin and Altam near Avalon Gate entrance.)

Avelin
Did you find Pihne?
Caswyn isn't being very helpful.

> Prompt: Pihne escaped or I could not find Pihne

> Prompt: I could not find Pihne

(You lie and say you could not find Pihne.)

Avelin
Really? Then where the heck is she?
We haven't heard back from the Eiler Unit, either...
Are you going to open your mouth, Caswyn?
And where's Talvish? You should know. You called him here!

Caswyn
...

Avelin
You better not say "I don't know."

Caswyn
...
I don't know.
I really don't have any idea. Sorry.

Avelin
...You're the worst.
This is why NO Alban Knight should go off on their own!
See what you started, Caswyn? This all happened because of YOU.

Caswyn
You're right...

Avelin
...

Caswyn
I'll take my leave, then...

Avelin
Where are you going?

Caswyn
...
Away from here.

(You go by Caswyn's side.)

Caswyn
I knew Pihne was going through a lot, but...
I didn't expect it to be like this...
Pihne never wanted anyone to see the weak side of her.
I acted like nothing was wrong to make her happy.
I didn't want to burden her any further...
But Pihne only shows her bright and cheerful side to others. She never cries, she never gets angry...
She has a fear of opening up.
But...
...
If only she knew how much she's done for me...
If it wasn't for her, I'd be nothing.
Without Pihne, I wouldn't have a single friend in the world.
Without Pihne, I wouldn't be the general of the Heruin Unit.
Without Pihne, I would be the shadow of the man I am today.
...
...
I don't know...
Maybe everything I'm saying is meaningless.
It's not like I can save her now.
She's already become an Apostle...

>Prompt: Cheer Caswyn up There might be hope or Leave quietly

>Prompt:Leave quietly

(You get ready to leave.)

Caswyn
Wait...
...
Don't leave yet...
...
...
Never mind.
Forget what I said.

(You use the necklace once more.)

(...)

(You completely focus on the necklace.)

Shadow Mission: ???

(Your view comes to The Elder and the other generals standing at Avalon Bridge.)

The Elder
Are you prepared to seal your shard, Elved?

Elved
Yes, Commander. We'll be one step closer to keeping the Sacred Mark out of the enemy's hands forever!
Aton Cimeni will guide us to victory!

The Elder
...

(The knights repel another onslaught of Heretics. Afterwards, The Elder walks up to Elved at the waterfall.)

The Elder
Are you prepared to head to the altar?

Elved
Of course.
It's an honor to be trusted with a piece of the Sacred Mark.
I'll never forget the grueling days I spend training to become an Alban Knight.
I've chosen the sword and honor over friends and family.
I remember when I first started training...

The Elder
...

Elved
F-forgive me, Commander! I was rambling.
Let's head out!

The Elder
Very well.

(Elved walks out. The Elder then turns around.)

The Elder
...
Who goes there?

(The Elder walks toward your own range of view.)

The Elder
That's enough of your eavesdropping.

(MISSION END)

(Your vision goes white. Somehow, you got disconnected from the memory. You attempt to use the necklace again.)

(...)

(The necklace turns to dust and disappears!)

(The Elder's identity remains a mystery...)

Eternal Memories

I'm just doing whatever I can at this point. -Avelin

(You tell Avelin what happened to the necklace.)

Avelin
Damn! What do we do without the necklace? And just before we found out where Elved'd Altar was, too...
Well, we can't chase the Prophets if we don't kno where the Elved Shard is.
We won't be able to hold off the enemy at this rate...

Altam
Avelin...
I could go to the training grounds if you want!
Then I'll be stronger! I can help you fight!

Avelin
Nice try.
You're staying here. There's no telling what could happen.

(Topic added when speaking with Altam: Alban Knights Training Grounds)

(You check on Caswyn.)

Caswyn
...
What is it?

> Prompt: How do you feel?, About the necklace or About the Training Grounds

> Prompt: About the Training Grounds

(You ask about the Alban Knights Training Grounds.)

Caswyn
Training?
At a time like this?
Why do you ask that now?
Besides...
I don't have the fondest memories of that place.
I still have nightmares from it...
...?
...
...
...
(Character Name), wait!
...
I have an idea...
What if we used Pihne's Gem...
To save Pihne?!
(Character Name)!
You have to do this!
You have a special link with the Elder. You're the only one who an help her!
...
Let's make haste.
We must save Pihne before she's lost forever.
Will you accept this burden?

> Prompt: Of course or Not sure

> Prompt: Of course

(You say that you're happy to help.)

Caswyn
...
...
All right...
First, you'll need this. This is Pihne's Gem.
You should be able to use it the same way you used the necklace.
It'll break after a single use, so just keep that in mind.

(You use Pihne's Gem.)

(You can use it the same way you used the necklace.)

(...)

Shadow Mission: Eternal Memories

(Your vision whitens, and then you find Pihne kneeling in the center of a room. Caswyn is by your side.)

Caswyn
...
We've prepared the cleansing ritual for Pihne.
It seems this place has become stable.
But I feel a weight on my body, almost as though someone were trying to push me.
It's as if I'm being rejected from this place...
It seems that only those who hold Pihne's Gem are unaffected.
Regardless...
You've done enough for me, (Character Name).
...
This is something I must do alone...

(Caswyn dons his armor and mask. You look at Pihne.)

Pihne
Mother... Father...
I'll never forget...
I've locked this painful memory away deep in my heart...
The time you spent praying for me... I won't ever forget it.

Caswyn
Pihne...
Who are you talking to?
I don't think she knows we're here...
It's almost as if she's become a ghost.
...
(Character Name)...
We need your help if we're going to enter Pihne's memories.
The passage has opened near Pihne. I'm counting on you...

(You move to the opened passage. You are both warped to a single room, in which a woman and a man are praying by a bedded child's side.)

Father of Pihne
Oh, Aton Cimeni. Please grant us a miracle to rid Pihne from her misery.

Mother of Pihne
Please, let me be sick in my daughter's place.
Please, Aton Cimeni...

Pihne
Mommy... Daddy... It hurts...

Caswyn
Pihne...

(The screen flashes red.)

Pihne
Ahhhh!
Ugh... Ack...

Caswyn
Pihne! Pihne!

Mother of Pihne
Oh, Pihne!

Father of Pihne
Please, Aton Cimeni! Bring this young child comfort!

> On-screen text, with red: It should've been me who died...

> On-screen text, with red: It should've been me who died...

> On-screen text, with red: It should've been me who died...

(You come back to the main room. Corrupted spirits prowl the place.)

Caswyn
Is this the suffering humans endure when they become Apostles?
It shouldn't be like this...

(You and Caswyn clear out the corrupted spirits.)

Caswyn
Am I...
Am I making things worse?
I can't just leave everything to (Character Name)...

(You check on Pihne once again.)

Pihne
My dear, beloved parents...
I-I... remember everything.
I remember all you did to help me...
You had no choice but to rely on Aton Cimeni.
Thank you, Mom... Thank you, Dad...
...
If only that day at the lighthouse never happened...

Caswyn
...
All the things Pihne wanted to hide are here in her subconscious.
...
It must be agonizing...
But this is the only way to save her.
Another passage has opened. Let's go.

(The new passage leads you to the lighthouse. Young Pihne is there, alone, as her parents watch from below.)

Pihne
Wow! So THIS is how our village looks from way up here!
Mom and Dad look like ants!
There's so many pretty things in the world...
I don't want to die yet!
I'm really scared of dying... I hate being in pain!

Caswyn
...

(You descend the lighthouse.)

Father of Pihne
This is Pihne's first time on top of the lighthouse, right?
Who knew she'd love it this much? We should've brought her sooner!

Mother of Pihne
Just knowing how little time she has left...
*Sniff*
Oh, Pihne...!

(Someone appeared at the top of the lighthouse. You go back up.)

Stranger
Hello, young lady.

Pihne
Hi, mister.

Stranger
...

Pihne
Are you here to see the lighthouse, too?

Stranger
...
Tell me, have you heard of the god who freed the world of pain?

Pihne
Yeah! Aton Cimeni is great!

Stranger
Bah! Absolutely not! I speak of the eternal mother, Ladeca.
Ladeca puts Aton Cimeni to shame.

Caswyn
No... Don't listen to him, Pihne!
...
She can't hear me...

Stranger
You sweet, innocent child. You look as if you're in a great deal of pain.
There is one way for you to save yourself... You must offer your loved ones as a sacrifice.

Pihne
Sacrifice? No way!

Stranger
You misunderstand me, my dear.
Ladeca will take your loved ones to a much better place, free from the evils of this world.

Pihne
So... there's a better god than Aton Cimeni?

Stranger
Precisely.

Caswyn
Pihne!

Stranger
Now, repeat exactly as I say. Do not skip a single word. Tu furtum eam cumulabitur animalis et exclamatio eius.

Pihne
Tu... furtum... ...

Stranger
Why are you hesitating?

Pihne
...
I don't know... I just don't feel right...

Stranger
You have nothing to worry about.
Once you're better, you can go anywhere you'd like! Other lighthouses, forests, and much more.

Pihne
Am I... really going to get better?

Stranger
You have my word.

Pihne
And your god will really send the people I love to a better place?

Stranger
Absolutely. Ladeca is perfection. Now, finish reciting.

Pihne
...Tu furtum eam cumulabitur animalis et exclamatio eius.

Stranger
...
Excellent. Obedience will get you far.

> Prompt: ...

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

Pihne
What the... I just heard a weird voice!

Stranger
Silence! That is the voice of your saving grace!
You are now free from your shackles of pain.
The incomparable power of Mother Ladeca now dwells within you. Embrace it!
Take a look, my dear.
Your parents' spirits have departed to paradise with the eternal mother.
All that remains are the empty shells that once housed their souls.

(You go to Pihne's parents, only for the Stranger's words to ring true. They are both fallen.)

(You get no response.)

Pihne
Mommy... Daddy...!
*Sob*

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

> On-screen text: (It should've...)

Pihne
No! Why won't the voices stop?

Caswyn
Pihne...
...
So that's when it all started...
That was the moment when she became corrupted...
Perhaps facing the undead is what reawakened the corruption and turned her into an Apostle.
I imagine that's what happened.

(You return the the main room.)

Caswyn
The past is the past.
I've never been held down by the past, and I won't start now.
...
I'll do whatever I can to save Pihne.

(You defeat the corrupted spirits, but the contagion spreads in the area.)

Caswyn
We must hurry!
The contamination is spreading through Pihne's subconscious!

(You go to Pihne again, who is talking to herself.)

Pihne
Why didn't I just die like I was supposed to... Why did I kill my parents...
That voice... It's always resented me...
And it will go on always and forever...
Always and forever... Always and forever... Always and forever... Always and forever...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
And now I hear my parents' voices, too...
Always and forever...
...
That's when I started praying to Aton Cimeni again.
I prayed for him to forgive me...
I prayed every day...
...
Mom... Dad... I'm sorry...
The day I received Aton Cimeni's blessing...
That was the day I joined the Alban Knights.
After that, the voices stopped.
I felt like I was forgiven.
...
But it was a lie...
The Divine Light could only mask my dark past for so long.

(You take the third pathway. It's the Cave of Remorse.)

Companion 1
Way to go, Pihne! Now you can use Crusader Skills, too!

Pihne
Heh... Thank you..

Companion 1
What kind of Crusader Skill will it be?

Pihne
I think it will be a defensive one.

Companion 2
Which unit do you think you'll be assigned to? Arthuan? Eiler? Probably Eiler. That's my guess.

Pihne
Uh, I'm not sure. I haven't thought that far ahead.
Thanks, everyone. Really...

(The squires depart, leaving a Pihne who breaks down in tears.)

Pihne
I didn't think my childhood memories would come back to haunt me in the Cave of Remorse...
My Crusader Skill got all screwed up...
...
...
The corruption inside me will never fade...
...
I have to try harder...
I have to try harder than everyone.
That's the only way to convince them nothing's wrong with me.
*Sob*

Caswyn
Pihne...

(You are warped back to the main room.)

Caswyn
...

(You dispatch the corrupted spirits while watching your step. The corruption still spreads.)

Caswyn
Is it almost over?!
*Huff huff*

(You look at Pihne.)

Pihne
The truth is...
I was in terrible pain the entire time I was with the Alban Knights.
I couldn't reveal my past...
They're all so good and pure. They couldn't possibly understand where I came from.
I was forced to hide my darkness.
I figured that if everyone saw me as a kind, friendly person, then that would be enough.
The things I loved... The things I hated...
What made me happy... What made me sad...
I couldn't remember any of it... And I didn't care at all.
My time as an Alban Knight is just a blurred memory.
And I still didn't care.
...
Mother... Father...
Despite everything, there was still one person I remembered very clearly...
Caswyn...
Caswyn was different from the others.
I was able to be myself when I was with him.
I felt like I didn't have to hide anything.
No one treated me the way Caswyn did...

Caswyn
...
...Let's move on. This should be the last passage.

(The last passage leads you to Avalon Gate. Caswyn and Pihne stand by, in their squire uniforms.)

Pihne
So, the two of us are on guard duty again...
Why do we even need to be here? It's not like outsiders can come here anyway.

Caswyn
...

Pihne
This is SO boring!
I just want to be promoted to a knight already!

Caswyn
...

Pihne
What about you, Caswyn? What do you want to do?

Caswyn
I'm not sure...

Pihne
I think you'd be a great general! You should make that your goal!

Caswyn
That sounds like a lot of work...

Pihne
Well, yeah...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Caswyn.

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Caswyn?

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Um...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
...

Caswyn
Why aren't you saying anything?

Pihne
You're the one who wasn't saying anything!

(The squires disappear, replaced by corrupted spirits.)

Caswyn
...

(You defeat all the spirits.)

Caswyn
*Huff huff*
I think that was the last of them...
There has to be an Apostle around here.
But where...?
The sooner we find it, the sooner we can destroy it.
...
...
What if the Apostle is...

(You return to the main room.)

Pihne
Caswyn was my complete opposite.
I spent all my time pretending to be someone else. But Caswyn... He never his who he was.
He always confidently spoke his mind, even if it meant pushing others away.
Caswyn genuinely made me comfortable...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
But it was that comfort that urged me to keep secrets from him.
I worried that he'd judge me for my past.
I was afraid...
Afraid... and nervous.
I feared more than anything that...
Caswyn would turn his back on me when he found out what I was... What I had done...
Mom, Dad... What do I do?
I can't go back to how I used to be. I can't return to the past...
...
Look at what I've become... I'm... an Apostle...

(The Apostle from before at the volcano appears in Pihne's place.)

Caswyn
...It's just as I feared. The Apostle has fused with Pihne!
Everything will return to normal if we can just destroy it...
But... I'm too exhausted to fight anymore...

> Prompt: I will fight with you

(You tell Caswyn you'll fight by his side.)

Caswyn
...
(Character Name)...

(You both defeat the apostle.)

(MISSION END)

The Return

Everything's fine now... Let's head back. -Caswyn

(Pihne lies next to Caswyn.)

Caswyn
She's still breathing...
I think she's going to be okay.
...
...
I didn't think it was possible.
I didn't think souls could connect like that...
(Character Name)...
I knew you had special abilities, but I didn't know to what degree.
We couldn't have done this without you...
So...
(Character Name)...
...
Um...
How should I put it...
I....
...

Pihne
He's trying to say "Thanks!"

Caswyn
Pihne!

(Pihne stands up.)

Pihne
(Character Name)...
I don't remember much of what happened at Pera Volcano.
But I do remember one thing...
...You saved me, (Character Name).

> Prompt: No Problem, Thank Caswyn or I do not remember

Caswyn
I didn't really do much...
(Character Name) did all the work.

Pihne
I know you're just trying to be humble.
You're always humble...

Caswyn
...

Pihne
...
Caswyn... About all the things you saw...
I...

Caswyn
It doesn't change a thing.
It doesn't change the way I look at you.
The voices are gone forever, so you don't need to hide who you are anymore.
It's okay to be angry.
It's okay to be happy.
It's okay to be sad.

Pihne
Y-you're right...
...
If I'm going to be honest about how I feel...
Then... I want you to know...

Caswyn
...!

Pihne
Huh? What's wrong?

Caswyn
Maybe this isn't the best time...

Pihne
...Oh, I get it!
You're afraid I'll say something that might embarass you in front of (Character Name)!
I understand. We should be heading back to Avalon Gate, anyway.
I'm sure everyone's wondering if we're okay.
I have some... important information to share. Things I learned while I was an Apostle...
But I'll wait till we're all together to talk about it.

Avelin
Something urgent came up, and we need to move out.
Remember Lunae Valley, where Arthuan's Altar was?
That's where we're going.
Just you and me.

> Prompt: Ask Why or Do not ask

> Prompt: Do not ask

(You don't bother asking why.)

Avelin
Let's go!

(You go to Lunae Valley.)

Avelin
It's cold, isn't it?
Now that we're alone, no one can bother us.
I'm glad you came...
I've been... waiting for this moment.
Come closer, (Character Name).
Come keep me warm...
...
I think Brilluen was right about me.
I need to be more honest about what I want.
I've been thinking about this for a while now.
I've been... Thinking about you... About how I want to spend my life with you...
I don't need to worship any gods as long as I have you in my life.
I just want to start over from scratch.
I just... I don't want anything but you.
Yes, that's it! I want you to accept my love, (Character Name)!

Brilluen
Accept my love... And accept your fate!

(It was Brilluen disguised as Avelin!)

Brilluen
HAH!
Just so you know, I wasn't being TOTALLY dishonest about my feelings! *Wink*

> Prompt: No escape

(...)

Shadow Mission: The Return

Pennar
Stand back, Brilluen. (Character Name) is mine.

Brilluen
Do whatever you want! You just better not let the Milletian escape!
At least no one can intervene.
And don't forget to seal the Milletian's soul so it can never revive again!

Pennar
The stage is set, and there's nowhere to run.
The only way out is through me!

Brilluen
Well, SOMEONE'S fired up!
Marcan and I have to take care of a few things. DO NOT screw this up, Pennar.

(Brilluen leaves.)

Pennar
...
I feel... ALIVE!
I can feel the energy coursing through my veins.
This will be the first and last time we face each other.
Come at me, (Character Name)!

(You hold on against the wolfman.)

Pennar
Not bad...
But play time is OVER!

(You hold on against the wolfman.)

Pennar
I'm not done with you yet!
If you don't want to fight, I'll MAKE you fight!

(You hold on against the wolfman.)

???
(Character Name)! Are you okay?

(Talvish appears.)

Pennar
An Alban Knight?! How did you get here?!

Talvish
I've been trailing Brilluen since Belvast.
Is she not here? A pity.
I had something I wanted to say to her. Ahem...
"You're nothing but a filthy succubus!" Ah, it still feels good to say it.
Anyway, the Avelin I know would never behave in such an undignified manner.
Just let Brilluen know that her performance was both disgusting and humiliating.
Who did she think she was fooling with that pathetic disguise?
Oh, Brilluen. You're as stupid as you are insane.

Pennar
Are you done insulting someone that isn't here? Why must you interrupt at a time like this?!

Talvish
Do you honestly believe this is a fair fight, Pennar?
Especially after backing (Character Name) into a corner like this?

Pennar
ENOUGH! I swear, I'll kill you all!

(Two Zebachs are summonned next to Talvish.)

Talvish
...This doesn't look good. You should try to escape, (Character Name).

(You and Talvish manage to hold on. After a moment, Caswyn appears.)

Caswyn
(Character Name)! Are you okay?!

Pennar
Damn it! Another one...

Talvish
Did your gut lead you here, Caswyn?

Caswyn
Talvish...

Talvish
I want to talk to you about the traitor...

Caswyn
...
But Talvish...
Let's save (Character Name) first.

Talvish
...?
I'm not too sure what you mean, but you're right. Let's help!

Pennar
Hmph. There's no point in fighting if I'm outnumbered like this.
Until next time, (Character Name)...

(Pennar flees, leaving behind the Apostles and corrupted monsters. You defeat them.)

(MISSION END)

Caswyn
...
Are you okay, (Character Name)?

Talvish
Do you have any injuries?
I understand their motives now.
The Prophets tried to draw you away from the rest of us so they'd be free to attack you.
I'm sorry you had to go through that...
I won't let something like that happen to you again.
On my honor.
...

Caswyn
Talvish...

Talvish
Oh, Caswyn. I...

Caswyn
...

Talvish
Hm?
What is it?
You don't seem as hostile as you did before.

Caswyn
Yes, well...
We've gone through a lot lately.

Talvish
We certainly have...
Let's talk more on the way to Belvast.
It's simply too cold here.

Forward Progress

No more secrets. It's time to unveil the truth. -Pihne

Altam
(Character Name)!

Talvish
Good. You're back.
Now, where were we?

Avelin
We were talking about what the Prophets know about us.

Talvish
Thank you, Avelin.

Avelin
No problem. You take it from here.

Talvish
To conclude what I was saying, it appears that the Prophets have been targeting our weaknesses.
Perhaps our strict lifestyle is working against us...

Caswyn
...

Talvish
Anyway...
I hope this finally puts talk of a traitor to rest.

Altam
Doesn't it feel like that was too easy?

Avelin
What are you saying, Altam?

Altam
N-nothing. I was just thinking out loud!

Avelin
So, the next order of business is...

Pihne
Wait! I-I have something to say, everyone!

Caswyn
Pihne?!

Pihne
...
No more secrets, Caswyn...

Pihne
I learned something while I was away...
The Apostle I saw recently was actually someone brought back from the dead!

Avelin
...?

Pihne
The Prophets have been conducting all sorts of "experiments."
They want to infect every living thing in Erinn with their Unholy Light and turn them into Apostles.
They used to test on animals before stepping it up to human subjects.
They moved on to dead humans, then back to living humans with Divine Light.
And now, they're seeking dead humans who possessed Divine Light.

Altam
Talvish... If what Pihne said is true...

Talvish
Hm...
So, the Prophets really have been trying to turn the Elder into an Apostle...
We were right all along.

Caswyn
...

Talvish
The Prophets must be stopped at all costs.
If the Elder becomes an Apostle, he may become even more powerful than Morrighan...
And that would spell disaster for the Alban Knights.

Avelin
So, what happened to you, Pihne?
We were pretty worried after you disappeared from Blago Prairie.

Pihne
Avelin, I...

Caswyn
Pihne!

(Caswyn is trying to stop Pihne from talking about what happened.)

> Prompt: Stop Caswyn or Stop Pihne

> Prompt: Stop Caswyn

(You tell Caswyn to knock it off and let Pihne speak.)

Caswyn
You're right, (Character Name). It shouldn't be up to me...
Are you sure you're okay with this, Pihne?

Pihne
Of course.
I've made my peace, Caswyn.
And thank you, (Character Name). I hope you know how incredible you really are.
You'll always hold a special place in my heart...

Caswyn
...

Avelin
...

Pihne
...I'll start from the beginning.

(Pihne reveals everything about her past, including her time as an Apostle.)

> Prompt: ...

(Time passes.)

Avelin
...

Talvish
...

Altam
...

Caswyn
...

Avelin
That's quite a story...

Talvish
To become an Apostle and still manage to return to the light...
The Alban Knights have no rules or punishments regarding this...
You're definitely a unique case, Pihne.
Let's see what the other generals have to say.
...
What are your thoughts, Avelin?

Avelin
I...
I don't know what to think.

Pihne
Avelin...

Avelin
I'm feeling all sorts of things right now, and I don't want to do anything I'd regret.
No one makes good decisions when they're emotional.

Pihne
Avelin, I...
...
Thank you.

Avelin
Well, it'd be irresponsible of me to make a decision right now.
There's no need to thank me.

Talvish
I agree. We can talk about this later.
Protecting Avalon Gate is our top priority.

Pihne
Thank you, everyone...

Caswyn
...
I'm just glad you're okay, Pihne...

Pihne
Caswyn! Your face!

Caswyn
What? What's wrong with my face?

Pihne
You're... YOU'RE SMILING!

Talvish
Wow. He really IS smiling!

Caswyn
...
Hm...

Pihne
Oh, don't be shy, Caswyn! I think you have a wonderful smile!

Caswyn
Like Pihne said, it's all over if the Prophets enter Avalon Gate.
They'll transform the Elder into an Apostle...

Talvish
Not on our watch.
Let's wait inside.
Hm... Something still doesn't seem right...
If the Prophets have all the shards, why haven't they made a move?

> Prompt: Go inside

(You go inside.)

Shadow Mission: Forward Progress

(You go through the path and stop at the Avalon Bridge.)

Talvish
Good, you're here.

Altam
T-that...!

(Reanimated corpses appear.)

Avelin
It can't be! How?!

Talvish
The Prophets must be near. Stay on guard.

(You all defeat the corpses.)

Altam
Over there!

(Altam points to the Avalon Gate entrance, where all four Prophets stand.)

Talvish
How did they get in?!

Pennar
Don't act so surprised. It'll take more than the likes of you to stop us.
Even the barriers surrounding this place were a joke.

Brilluen
You guys REALLY underestimate us!
Humans are so clueless sometimes...
Especially DUMB humans, like you!

(A blue light shines.)

Caswyn
...!

Talvish
Stay calm, Caswyn.

Pennar
Tell me, do you really place yourselves above a god you know nothing about?
Your wisdom pales in comparison to the wisdom of Mother Ladeca.

Marcan
God come soon. You praise. Worship!

Brilluen
Are you SURE you won't join us?
Our god didn't abandon the world like your precious Aton Cimeni did!

Avelin
Brilluen...!

Talvish
Forget how the Prophets got here.
We have to stop them...
No matter what, we have to stop them!
Get ready, everyone!

(The party moves into Avalon Gate. A fully armored and winged zebach appears.)

Talvish
Could this be its final form? This isn't going to be easy...

(You battle the Prophets and the Zebach. The knights fall, one by one. You cannot handle the Prophets on your own, either. Pennar knocks you down.)

Pennar
(Character Name).
You probably can't even stand.
I was hoping we could have a proper battle, but I guess not. What a shame.
Believe it or not, I place a high value on honor.

(A smaller Zebach moves in on you, raising its arm with the intent to crush you. But at the last moment, the hit is blocked by Talvish, who quickly reinvigorates you.)

(Talvish rushes to your side.)

Talvish

Ugh... Caswyn saved me from a mortal blow.
I knew I could count on him...
...
So, it's happening to you again, (Character Name).
People will call you a hero and even deify you, yet you always end up alone on the battlefield.
As for me... I'll be by your side until the bitter end.
Don't carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone.
I'll be there for you no matter what.

(You both turn back towards your foes.)

Talvish
*Cough cough*

(Talvish can barely stand up.)

Talvish
I can.. still use my Divine Light...
I can use it to heal you...
I'll always help you when you need it.

(With Talvish's support, you manage to somehow defeat all the foes. Although...)

Talvish
The Prophets escaped at the last possible minute. This devinitely isn't over... They're off biding their time, waiting for the right moment to invade Avalon Gate.

(MISSION END)

Talvish
How do you feel, (Character Name)?

Talvish
...

(Talvish sits by the gate, and you stand watch next to him.)

Talvish
The battle seems to be over for now. But where did the Prophets disappear to?
We must find them and heighten our defenses before they breach the gate.

(As Talvish stands, the prophets appear right in front of the gate!)

Black Wizard
Everything has unfolded just as it was planned.

Talvish
No! If they reach Avalon Gate...
We must prevent this at all costs!

(You rush at them, but Brilluen knocks you both back with a smell. The shards are offered to the door, who then opens...)

Pennar
I suppose I'll never have the pleasure of destroying (Character Name)...

Brilluen
It was SO much fun watching your pathetic attempts. Oh, well. Bye for now!

Marcan
Door. Soon close. Hurry.

(The prophets walk through the door, which then closes on them.)

Gate of Sanctuary

It's all over... The Prophets have entered Avalon Gate. -Talvish

Talvish
It looks like everyone's awake.

Altam
Ungh...

Pihne
Wh-what happened? Where are the Prophets?

Caswyn
...

Avelin
Oh, no. Don't tell me...

Talvish
I'm sorry, Avelin...
But the Prophets have entered Avalon Gate.

Altam
What?! We have to stop them!

Talvish
We can't, Altam. The gate has closed, and the Sacred Mark is gone.

Altam
But... But... There's gotta be another way!

Avelin
Wait.
Something's off. I can still sense their Unholy Light.

Talvish
You can?
Are the Prophets nearby, Avelin?

Avelin
Yes! I think they're trapped beyond the gate!
But how is that even possible?

Talvish
Hm...
I think my plan worked...
I combined our Divine Light at the exact moment the Prophets used the Sacred Mark.
We couldn't have done it without you, (Character Name).
Thank you for helping us yet again.

Altam
I'm sorry I was unconscious, (Character Name)!

Talvish
So, our actions managed to trap the Prophets beyond the gate.
I don't see Zebach anymore, either.
The Celestial Six has completed its mission... for now...

Altam
But...

Talvish
As Avelin suggested, we must come up with a new strategy.

Avelin
Yeah. All we've really done is buy us some time.

Talvish
How does everyone feel? Should we rest a bit?

Pihne
Probably a good idea.
I'm just glad everyone's okay!

Altam
Altam, you put up a great fight. We're really proud of you!

Altam
I told you I could hold my own!

Caswyn
...

Pihne
And Caswyn was great, too!

Caswyn
...I just did my job.

Pihne
Oh, don't be ridiculous!
Thank you so much, (Character Name). If it weren't for you, we'd be...
I'm just so honored to have you with us!

Avelin
I give you my sincere thanks, (Character Name).

Caswyn
...

Pihne
Is there something you'd like to say, Caswyn?

Caswyn
...

Pihne
I can speak for you if you prefer!

Caswyn
No. I can speak for myself.
...
(Character Name)...
...
...
...
...Thank you.

Pihne
Oh, Caswyn! I'm so proud of you!

Caswyn
It's not that big of a deal...

Pihne
And I'm sure your opinion of Caswyn has changed, Avelin! Hasn't it?

Avelin
Of course not! He's such a...

Pihne
Avelin!

Avelin
... *Sigh*
Why don't we forget about what I think?

Talvish
Avelin, you never change.
Oh, (Character Name)...
I heard you're able to link with souls.
Being with the Alban Knights has brought out all sorts of qualities in you.
You really are something special.

Altam
(Character Name), you're the cat's pajamas!

Pihne
What does that even mean, Altam?

Altam
Uh... I don't know!

Talvish
Moving on... The loss of the necklace is definitely a major blow to all of us.
But if (Character Name) continues linking with the right souls, then we might be able to find out more about the Elder.
I wonder...
I wonder what sorts of things you'll find out about our history.
Please share everything you find with us.

Altam
So... what's going to happen to us?

Talvish
It's time for us to disband...

Altam
Aw, man... I was really hoping you wouldn't say that...

Talvish
We'll return to our respective units for the time being.
We have other missions to complete.
Once the dust settles, we'll face this issue again.
We need to figure out how to reopen the gate.
It looks like we have a lot of research ahead of us.
Perhaps it will bring us all together again.

Pihne
That's right! If anything happens, we'll be RIGHT there!
That is... IF the Prophets make a move...

Avelin
I guess Altam and I will hang here for a while, then.
We can keep an eye on Avalon Gate and the Prophets.

Talvish
Yes, Avelin. No one else can sense their Unholy Light like you can.

Pihne
Make sure Altam stands guard from time to time. He isn't a kid anymore, after all!

Altam
Right! I'm...

Avelin
Absolutely not! Altam still has a looong way to go.

Altam
B-but...

Avelin
But... He HAS become a lot more trustworthy.

Altam
*Sob*

Pihne
Jeez, Altam! Are those tears of joy or sorrow?

Altam
B-Both! Oh, and (Character Name)! Promise you'll come visit me and Avelin, okay?
We'll be waiting for you!

Avelin
Altam!

> Prompt: No promises or Promise to visit

Avelin
Hm...
So, is it time to head back, then?

Pihne
I think so... See you later, Avelin!

Caswyn
...Take care of yourself, Avelin.

Pihne
...
...
...?!
Wow, Caswyn!

Altam
W-what is it?

Pihne
I think he finally learned how to be polite!

Caswyn
Ack... Why did I open my mouth...

Avelin
You take care of yourself, too, Caswyn.

Talvish
Then let's move out.
(Character Name)...
We'll see each other again.

Caswyn
I won't forget everything you've done for us.

Altam
This way, (Character Name)!
I-I have a favor to ask of you...
This is a journal I wrote ALL about you!
But I think Avelin caught wind of it.
If she finds out I still have it, she'll take it away! Can you please hang on to it for now?
Pretty please!

> Prompt: Take the journal or Refuse the journal

> Prompt: Take the journal

(You agree to take the journal.)

Altam
You're the best, (Character Name)!
Avelin's going to kick my butt if I don't head back right now.
I'll see you later!
