A skill that allows you to successfully defend against enemies attacks by summoning strong winds to surround your body. DEF and M. DEF increases significantly, and you cannot be knocked down. While Wind Guard is active, weapon speed for the Close Combat talent increases, and you can use Close Combat skills and Giant Full Swing, the ultimate skill of a Giant Warrior. The strong wind summoned by Wind Guard allows you to use Charge and Giant Full Swing quickly and consecutively without a cooldown. Equipping a shield grants an additional DEF bonus.

Details

  • Giant-only skill.
  • Uses the power of wind to temporarily increase the user's Defense, Protection, Magic Defense, and Magic Protection and grants immunity to knockdown and stun hits, even if sent into Deadly.
    • The stat bonuses are not shown in the character stat menu.
  • While active is loaded you are free to move and use any Close Combat skills, and some skills get additional benefits.
    • The cooldown of Full Swing is reduced to 0.
    • The cooldown of Charge is reduced to 0, and your movement speed during Charge is greatly increased.
    • Status Effect skills, such as Mana Shield and Daemon of Physis, will still take effect if activated before Wind Guard.
    • Any Auto-Defenses the user has while under the effects of Wind Guard still has a chance to activate.
    • Increases weapon speed by one tier when using a close combat weapon.
      • Thus making a very slow weapon swing at the speed of a slow weapon, etc.
        • Very fast weapons get no increase as there's no faster tier.
      • Weapons that are not considered true melee weapons get no benefit (i.e. Scythes, anything that can't use Bash).
  • Ice Spear's freezing effect will still affect Wind Guard, however the knock back of Ice Spear is still negated.
  • Frozen Blast, if successful, will completely cancel Wind Guard.
  • Wind Guard cannot be maintained if the user's Stamina hits 0 at any point.
  • The user can use Full Swing while he/she has Wind Guard activated without Daemon of Physis.

Training Method

Tips

  • An effective method is to use Taunt in tandem with Wind Guard while in Outskirts District 1 in the Shyllien Nature Reserve. Mutant Rabbit have weak melee attacks and will suffice for Melee attacks.
    • Using Bare Hands while in Wind Guard stance will allow a very weak splash damage and range due the close proximity the Mutant Rabbits may be while getting aggroed by many due to the nature of Taunt. This effectively trains the attack requirement for Wind Guard.
    • In the same district, Mutant Carnivorous Plants, found usually in the back of District 1, may suffice for for Magic Attacks, provided lightning enchanted items helps reduce the already low damage of the plant's Lightning Bolts.
