Explosive Kunai.png
 This old ninja trick involves attaching a small proximity explosive to a kunai, and planting it for an unsuspecting enemy. The explosion will trigger when they get close, and decrease their speed for a short time.

Details

  • Requires a shuriken equipped in order to use.
  • Places explosive tags on the ground, damaging and reducing the Movement Speed of enemies that come into contact with them.
    • After loading the skill, the cursor will change to a set of tags. Clicking the ground will place them.
      • Some enemies can be clicked on, or ctrl-targeted, to lay tags on top of the enemy's current position.
      • The cursor's color determines where the tags can be set. Green (over normal ground) indicates the area where trap can be set in the ground, whereas red (outside range or over props, obstacles, outside boundaries, etc.) indicates the area where the trap cannot be set.
        • Green marked tags can still be placed even if any others are marked red.
        • Some red marked tags can still be laid.
      • All tags are laid down simultaneously and positioned in a straight line, perpendicular to the user.
    • When laid down, a white circle appears under the trap, indicating its attack radius.
    • Placed tags does not prevent players from walking through them.
    • Placing additional tags or unequipping the shuriken will not cause placed tags to disappear.
  • Placed tags show up even with mini effects disabled.
  • Ignores Protection when calculating Critical rate.
  • Enemies hit will not aggressively aggro the user.
  • The user may not move when the skill is loaded.
  • Can hit enemies in Flight if placed under them.
  • Triggers Natural Shield and is shunted by Magic Natural Shield if directly thrown at the target's feet.
  • Cannot be used in Rafting nor on a Hot-Air Balloon.

Skill Issues

  • It is possible to "freeze up" your character when attempting to throw Explosive Kunai using CTRL-targeting.
  • Explosive Kunai may miss against monsters, both during and after placement.

Memory Book

Rewarded for clearing The Saga: Iria II and speaking to Blaanid during Clear Storyline Chapter 5 in the Fourth Memoir.

  • The skill will have training requirements up to Rank 9 completed.

Other Methods

Training Method

  • "Deal damage with an explosive kunai." can be trained multiple times off a single Explosive Kunai.
  • "Get a Critical Hit while attacking." cannot be trained multiple times off a single Explosive Kunai.

Tips

  • Lay the explosives between you and an enemy, then aggro that enemy. Some enemies, you may be able to toss the kunai at their feet to trigger an explosion. May require moving the cursor around their feet to find a spot.
  • Lining up slow monsters, such as Zombies, and using Explosive Kunai to attack them can train "Deal damage with an explosive kunai." and "Get a Critical Hit while attacking." multiple times.
