Description

Blocks long-ranged physical attack skills such as Magnum Shot. Casting this skill shields you and others with a magic sphere which blocks the attack skills while allowing attacks from the inside. Your Defense increases in proportion to the number of these shields overlapping each other.

Details

Reduce the damage from Archery and Earth Alchemy Mastery attacks.

• Causes a spherical magical shield barrier to appear around the user, reducing Archery and Earth Alchemy damage done to the user and anyone within the area of effect.
  • The following skills are reduced by the barrier:
    • Ranged Attack
    • Magnum Shot
    • Arrow Revolver
    • Mirage Missile (Does not negate shock effect)
    • Crash Shot (Does not block fragment shots)
    • Throwing Attack
    • Final Shot
    • Sand Burst
    • Gold Strike
    • Cerberus Arrow
    • Normal attacks with Dual Guns
    • Grapple Shot (Only if the attacker lands outside the barrier)
    • Bullet Slide
    • Shooting Rush (Only if the attacker lands outside the barrier)
    • Bullet Storm
    • Normal attacks with Shuriken
    • Shuriken Charge
    • Shadow Cloak (Only if the attacker is outside the barrier)
    • Explosive Kunai (During placement only. Does not knockback the user if struck by multiple Explosive tags)
    • Kunai Storm
  • Those within the barrier will not be stunned or knocked back unless sufficient damage is dealt.
  • Also those behind the barrier will be protected in the same manner.
• Any attack from within the magic shield will not be blocked unless there is a 2nd magic shield.
  • In addition, players cannot attack enemies from within the area of effect with ranged attacks.
• The caster cannot move or do anything while the barrier is up.
  • However if the caster is struck by an attack other than range, even if the caster does not fall back, the shield will cancel.
• The more Natural Shields overlap, the less damage Ranged Attack and Earth Alchemy Mastery will do.
• Can be used during Windmill's animation.

Obtaining the Skill

• Talk to Kousai with the Magic Shield Keyword, which is a keyword located in the Intermediate (Inter.) section.
  • To obtain this keyword, you must perform Rafting (see page for details) and attack a Hobgoblin using the corresponding element that is shunted by their shield. Then talk to a Native at one of the raft exits to be told about the keyword.
  • Use a bow and arrows with a long range (consider Long Bow sold by Waboka) to attack a Hobgoblin under the effects of Natural Shield. After the update, Renovation Season 2: Combat Talent Changes, archery is guaranteed to hit when firing within range and the amount of damage is affected by aiming rate. Target and fire quickly to increase chances your enemy does not get defeated in a single blow. Hobgoblins using Natural Shield will appear on the first river bank to the left and you won't need to steer the raft at all to reach them.
  • The keyword can also be obtained by mages using the elemental magic corresponding with the magic shield in question, but is somewhat more difficult to accomplish than using weakened archery against targets protected by Natural Shield.

Training Method

• In order to satisfy the "Successfully block Natural attacks with Natural Shields on your allies" training requirement, you must be the one hit by an arrow with your shield up, in addition to having someone else's shield up at the same time and overlapping yours.
• "Successfully attacked an opponent who is using Natural Shield" can be fulfilled if the Hobgoblin Bowman is in its casting animation.
  • Using Ranged Attack, or similar skills, will fulfill the requirement if the Hobgoblin Bowman is attacked during the casting animation.

Tips

• The most effective method to train "Block a Natural attack with Natural Shield." is through The Saga: Iria's Episode 7's Tense Escape. The third and fourth wave spawns four Elf Guards that constantly use low damage Ranged Attack without pause. It is possible to gather both waves together.
• An easy method to train this skill is by using the Cerberus that spawn in the Fomor Attack Shadow Mission. However, they randomly use all four elements, making this training method less reliable.
