A skill that produces a new item by synthesizing multiple items in a dry oven. The quality of items before you synthesize will determine the quality of items after. Although it's hard to predict item results, you can find synthesis recipes in books on Alchemy, which can teach you how to make exceptional items (e.g. Ice Mine).

Details

  • Uses alchemy and a Dry Oven to merge three or more items together to produce a new item. See Synthesis List for all items produced by synthesis. See Synthesis Fixed Recipes List for fixed synthesis recipes.
    • Synthesized equipment has randomized stats. See Synthesis Grades for possible outcomes.
    • Synthesizing multiple items of a type often results the same type as the outcome. For example, synthesizing three swords has a relatively high chance of resulting in a sword.
      • Synthesizing three to four of the same item has a chance of returning the same item. This applies to any equipable item.
    • Certain items can be duplicated into a stack, requiring one of the item being duplicated, Holy Water of Lymilark, and an Arat Crystal. See the Duplicating Items for a fixed recipe list for a list of duplicatable items.
  • Synthesis success rate can be increased by Alchemy Mastery, Transmutation, Samhain (Saturday), Weather, certain Enchants and Titles, and Construct Alchemy Talent.
    • Formula: (Base Success + Alchemy Mastery Bonus) * (Samhain Bonus) * (Weather Bonus) + (Enchant Bonus )+ (Title Bonus) + (Transmutation Bonus) + (Talent Bonus)
    • Day Bonus is 1.2 for Saturday and 1.0 for all other days.
    • Weather Bonus is 1.2 for Thunderstorms, 1.1 for Rain without Thunder, and 1.0 for Clear and Cloudy Days.
    • Only "the Synthesis Master" and "the Royal Alchemist" titles affect synthesis success.

Tips

  • As random synthesis can be performed with most any three items, purchasing alchemy crystals from Eabha and synthesizing them together is a great way to train at early ranks.
    • A cheaper alternative would be to buy 3 different ingredients (e.g. salt, garlic, sugar) from any grocer NPC.
  • Dorren's Request is a great way to train recipe requirements, particularly failures, as the Synthesized Darkness Crystal has an extremely low success rate.
  • Herbs: Synthesize Mandrakes.
    • Has a fairly high success rate.
    • Counts for recipes as it is a fixed recipe.
    • It is also possible to create Poison Herbs via five other different herbs, but the White Herb of this may be difficult to acquire.
  • Potions: Synthesize HP 30 Potions, Stamina 30 Potions, and Marionette 30 Potions together. These may be purchased from any Healer NPC.
  • Weapons: Synthesize three Gathering Knives together. These may be purchased from most weapon dealers.
    • This is also the most efficient method to create equipment with different stats.
  • Clothing/Armor: Synthesize three Popo's Skirts or Popo's Shirt and Pants together.
  • Resell value over #: This may only be fulfilled with random synthesis, as no fixed recipe exists for equipments.
    • Current and max durability affects the result, so try to always have fully repaired items when synthesizing.
    • In general, the "best" method is to use one high-value clothing/armor (a value of 400,000+ if sold by an NPC is ideal), along with two other items of the same equipment type as the desired outcome.
