Description

Control Marionette.png Allows you to take control of a Marionette in battle. You can see the level of the Puppeteer's skill in the quick movements of the Marionette. Legend has it that a master Puppeteer can give his Marionette life.

Details

  • Allows one to control a summoned Pierrot Marionette or Colossus Marionette using a Control Bar.
  • Passively increases a summoned marionette's Damage, Critical, and Balance when controlled and decreases the player's Act Skill cooldowns.
  • 70% of the player's damage, critical, and balance contributes to the marionette when connected.
  • Summoning a marionette will automatically activate Control Marionette.
    • Control Marionette will fail to activate if the player has another skill loaded upon summoning a marionette, displaying the message: "You are already using another skill."
      • While Resting, this message is changed to "You cannot control your puppet while resting."
  • Controlling a marionette functions similarly to controlling one's own character. The point-of-view will stay on the player, but movement, attacks, and act skills will be performed by the marionette.
    • Holding the Left Shift button while moving will allow the player to move rather than the marionette.
    • Any skills or actions that are exclusive to the player (e.g. Windmill), switching weapon slots, or interactions with Props or NPCs, will cancel the skill.
  • Attempting to control a marionette while out of range will force the player to head towards the marionette. The player will want to pay close attention to Distance while using their marionette.
    • The connection will not be severed until the distance grows greater than 13m.
    • The connection will only be initialized when the character reaches approximately 7m or less.
    • Once connected, the character will follow the marionette to maintain a distance of approximately 3m.
      • On the other hand, the marionette will not attempt to follow the player if the player is to move out of its range.
      • The character will not follow if obstructed by an object or instructed by Left Shift+movement, this can be helpful to make the marionette act at distances of 3~13m.
      • Being attacked or knocked back while in control of a marionette will not cause a disconnection unless the knockback causes either to be at a distance over 13m from each other.
      • Circular graphic indicators will be visible underneath the controller and marionette, which will change color depending on distance.
        • When connected, the circle appears green at close range, but gradually grows redder when the connection is in danger of being severed. The circle appears red when disconnected, regardless of distance.
  • Act 1: Inciting Incident and Act 4: Rising Action cannot be used if there is an obstacle between the player and the marionette while Control Marionette is active.
  • Attempting to use an act skill besides Act 9: Invigorating Encore will attempt to reconnect the marionette first.
  • The marionette can still move and attack while its controller is under attack. Likewise, the controller can still move while the marionette is under attack.
    • Act skills may be canceled or unavailable if either marionette or controller are stunned.
  • Using Control Marionette while the marionette is under the influence of Act 9: Invigorating Encore will not disable the skill, simply reconnecting the marionette and suspending its AI.
    • While under the influence of both Control Marionette and Invigorating Encore, the damage bonuses from both skills will be applied.
  • Marionettes cannot be used to pick up items; the player must disconnect from the marionette in order to do so.
  • Using Meditation does not force the marionette to walk, as it only affects the player.
  • Any Movement Speed bonuses that affect the player will also affect the marionette, even when the marionette is disconnected and under the effects of Act 9.
  • Higher ranks of Control Marionette is an option for learning the following skills:
    • Rank C is required to obtain the quest for learning Act 6: Crisis; Rank B is required to complete one of the quest's objectives.
    • Rank A is required to obtain the quest for learning Act 7: Climactic Crash; Rank 9 is required to complete one of the quest's objectives.
    • Rank 6 is required to obtain the quest for learning Act 9: Invigorating Encore; Rank 5 is required to complete one of the quest's objectives.

Skill Issues

  • Control Marionette's skill cooldown reduction does not work properly.
    • This can be remedied by unsummoning and then resummoning the marionette after using an act skill.
  • Receiving a knockback on the character while controlling a marionette may display the character being knocked back further than usual, even past an obstacle or into a wall, often leading towards cancelling the skill.
  • If Control Marionette is used before initiating a cutscene, that cutscene may have the skill appearing in it, with the wires showing and the character facing the unintended direction.
