Description

This skill enables you to collect Ore Fragments from the beach and near the river in Iria; you must be equipped with a Metallurgy Sieve in your right hand which can be purchased from general shops. Various ore fragments are available including Iron, Copper, Silver, Gold, and Mythril, and they can be refined to ingots at Forge in town. This skill has an extremely low chance of discovering Gems whose types vary depending on the weather, time, and location. Gems, repositories of ancient knowledge, can be exchanged with a variety of experience points when they are given to Spirit Weapons. When given to villagers, they elicit various reactions and may be exchanged with gifts.

• Allows one to sift sand to find Ore Fragments and Gems.
• Requires a Metallurgy Sieve equipped in order to use.
  • Deposits appear once every minute, or every 40 in-game minutes. However, each location can only have a limited number of deposits present at any time.
  • All metallurgy spots resets at EST: 3:00am
    UTC: 8:00am
    AEDT: 7:00pm
    12:00am PST100, causing any sparkling spot to disappear simultaneously in all areas.
  • Enabling Mini Effects causes these sparkles to be invisible.
  • Every metallurgy attempt will cause the sparkling spot to disappear, regardless of success or failure.
  • There are two types of sparkling spots: white and gold.
    • Metallurgy success rate can be increased using the following skills: Production Mastery, Harvest Song and Raining Weather
    • Doing Metallurgy on Alban Heruin (Wednesday) can also be utilized to increase your success rate.
    • Starting at Rank 9, there is a chance to find two ore fragments from a single deposit. Rank 5 increases the amount to three.
    • Gold sparkles only appear in raining weather or specific areas.
    • Failure will always produce an Unknown Ore Fragment.
    • Gems appear randomly alongside ore fragments.
    • Gems found within the deposit are determined by location and weather; color has no effect.
      • Rain Casting has no effect on weather for finding gems.
      • Very rarely, multiple gems can be found from a single deposit, with 5 being the max amount.
  • Partner gathering has no effect on Metallurgy.
  • If a player frequently clears out a beach's metallurgy deposits and then changes channels, they will receive a temporary penalty that prevents anything from dropping from a metallurgy spot, regardless of success or failure.

How to Get Quest	Talk to Effie in Qilla Base Camp with the Skills Keyword a total Exploration Level of 6 or higher.
Briefing	I'm in desperate need of 1 Gold Ore Fragment. Please bring it to me as soon as you can. - Effie - How to Collect Ore Fragments: Equip a Metallurgy Sieve in your right hand; the sieve is available at general shops in Iria. Go to Qilla Beach, exit the southern gate at Base Camp, and turn left to access the beach. Look for a shiny spot on the ground. Use the Metallurgy skill on the shining spot.

Additional Information	Rank Novice Metallurgy is learned upon accepting the quest. If the player has started the quest with a Metallurgy Sieve equipped, they will simply need to re-equip it to fulfill "Equip Metallurgy Sieve". Effie also starts two alternate skill quests if you have a Gathering Axe equipped or Stamina at 0, so be wary when trying to get the skill quest for Metallurgy! Pre-gathering the Gold Ore Fragment does not count for "Collect 1 Gold Ore Fragment". The Gem Keyword is also provided upon completion.
