Hydra Transmutation

From Mabinogi World Wiki
(Redirected from Hydra)

Description

Hydra Transmutation.png Summons a Hydra that spits venom, causing consistent damage and corroding enemy magic defense and protection. The Hydra's damage stacks 5 times and increases with a higher average of your Max HP, Max MP, and Max Stamina. (Required Crystals: 5 Earth Crystals)

Details

  • Requires a Cylinder and a Guard Cylinder equipped at the same time to use.
    • Can not be used if either cylinder is broken.
  • 5 Earth Crystals are consumed upon use.
  • Summons a Hydra that breathes poison over a wide area, reducing the opponent's Magic Protection and Magic Defense and deals damage over time.
    • Health reduction effect stacks with other damage over time effects such as Poison Attack or Mirage Missile, ignores Passive Defense, Invulnerability, and Mana Shield during damage calculation, and can lower a target's HP past 0 and can kill.
      • Monsters with Self-Destruct will not explode on death if Hydra Transmutation defeats them.
    • Will not cancel the effects of an active Lullaby.
    • Will not defeat enemies with "Finish" over their name.
    • Can damage enemies through walls.
    • The damage dealt additively increases after every damage "tick," capping after the 5th "tick."
      • For example, Hydra Transmutation with a calculated base damage of 100 over 10 "ticks" will do (100 + 200 + 300 + 400 + 500 + 500 + 500 + 500 + 500 + 500) = 4000 cumulative damage per target.
        • If no target is hit during the tick, the damage will not increase on the next tick, but will maintain its current stacking until another enemy enters the area of effect.
    • Hydra Transmutation cannot score criticals.
    • Hydra Transmutation's base damage is influenced by 8% of the user's remaining Stamina; for example, if the user had 100 remaining Stamina, the skill would deal an additional 8 damage.
      • This only adds bonus damage up to 2500 Stamina, or 200 additional base damage.
      • Final base damage is influenced by Alchemy Mastery, Earth Alchemy Mastery, Cylinder Bonus, and alchemy damage boosts(?) from enchants and titles.
        • This is calculated as: [{(Base Damage + Clay Damage Enchants + (Remaining Stamina * 0.08)) * [1 + 3 * (Alchemy Mastery Bonus + Earth Alchemy Mastery Bonus)]} - Enemy Magic Defense]
          * (1 - Damage Reduction from Magic Protection) * Cylinder Modifier * Elemental Modifier
    • Unlike other area of effect skills, Hydra Transmutation has a target limit, meaning that only a certain number of enemies can be attacked by the skill rather than all enemies within range. The target limit increases at higher ranks of this skill.
    • Enabling Mini Effects causes the poison breath to become invisible.
  • The summoning of a Hydra does not count as an attack, allowing Elves to Hide immediately after summoning.
    • However, because the player is not actively attacking the monster, using only this would negate the player from receiving the finishing blow to the monster if other people are attacking it.
  • Dyed parts B and C of the equipped Guard Cylinder determine the Hydra's overall and underside colors, respectively.
  • Hydra Transmutation increases the Attribute Marbles by 30% to clay and 15% to fire.

Skill Bugs

  • Enemies finished by Hydra Transmutation may resume their actions momentarily, such as keeping skills loaded and executing them after death.
    • A primary example is Bandits when they are stealing from a player's Commerce Transportation.
  • Hydra Transmutation's damage will include Water, Fire, or Wind Alchemy Damage (from enchants and upgrades) if a skill that normally increases damage from these enchants is currently loaded.
    • For example, having Flame Burst loaded or in progress will add Fire Alchemy Damage to Hydra Transmutation.

Training Method

Tips

  • To gain additional hits with the skill at high ranks, lower your Stamina, such as using Meditation and Counterattack with Knuckles. This will result in less extra damage, allowing the hydra to hit more times before killing enemies.
    • Using any elemental Cylinder, aside from a Clay-based one, will also trim damage by up to 12%.
  • Using Enthralling Performance on weaker monsters will help lure many enemies at once into the range of your hydra.
  • Once in range of Hydra, Lullaby may be ideal for holding in place and preventing aggro, affecting up to 15 at rank 1 and having an effective sleep time of 21+ seconds.
  • Training the skill efficiently may require using the Hide and Play Dead actions, using the skill Crisis Escape, or simply avoiding aggro altogether.
    • Giants may also use Wind Guard and Taunt to draw mobs and reduce incoming damage.
    • For Humans and Elves, targetting a mob with a bow attack may cause it to approach, though this can be unreliable.
  • Shadow missions are often ideal for training. Difficulty may be adjusted to find ideal enemy combat power ranges.
    • Many, such as Sulfur Spider, Provocation, and Offering, provide ideal spawn rates and cluster grouping.
      • Their Method provides ideal training for many ranks, with numerous high-health, slow moving groups of four enemies.
    • Rain Casting at rank 1, Shock, and Crisis may be useful for crowd control, however the latter two may incur significant damage.
  • A couple Saga missions, while fixed to a specific difficulty based on your total level, will provide instant respawn rates in tight quarters.
    • Negative Combat Power Gear (or positive) can be used to mitigate combat power issues. High Combat Power may help in finding hardy enemies for higher ranks.
    • Proceed with the ritual! spawns multiple mobs at a time.
  • The Kitchen Dungeon is ideal for boss requirements, due to the high CP of the enemies.
    • Place the hydra in the centre of the room, so that when ingredients respawn they will be in the attack zone.
    • The maximum number of active mobs is 9. At rank 1 you need to attack 8 strong level mobs, so you can only afford to have one mob outside the attack zone or below strong level.
    • Usually Sewer Rats and Silver Tableware are below the required mob level. Quickly eliminate them so they will be replaced by ingredients of the correct level.
    • Glewyas is troublesome since his attacks tend to scatter the ingredients around the edges of the pan. The Silver Tableware can defeat Glewyas. If Glewyas is moving away from the Silver Tableware to attack an ingredient, kill that ingredient, causing him to pick a new target. If he is moving nearer the Silver Tableware to attack an ingredient, leave him be. If you can get him close enough to make his splash damage hit the Silver Tableware, there's a decent chance it will attack him. However, the Tableware easily loses interest, so you may need to repeat the process.
  • Elves can easily train at Erinn Martial Arts Competition with Hide, as aggro takes several seconds to activate, allowing the player to use Hydra and Hide within that time frame.
